  1. 0.5 They've played 40 games and committed 29 errors, including the four last night. But if last night's game was a turning point in the season at which a new defensive trend was established, then they're on pace to still commit 517 errors this season. I'm going with over. WAY over.
  2. Too lazy to search through the thread, but has blame for the baserunning in that fifth inning been determined? Was it quade, DeJeebus, or the runners themselves who decided to run on contact? If it was DeJesus, then that's 4 outs at the plate and a should-be 5th in less than a week, just that I can think of now.

  4. I hope that's how it goes. Hill starting, batting 8th today tho. fuk barney byrd ramirez pena castro sori hill garza
  5. Miles just tweeted Soto to DL, Wellington Castillo is at Wrigley. Awesome. :banghead:
  6. Is it too early to panic about Soto? I think I'll freak out first and get perspective/info later.
  7. In my limited Wrigleyville experience since Theriot was first on the team, it really seemed like way too many people harbored a severely irrational love for Theriot. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get an ovation this week. However, credit to Brenly for forcing an opportunity in the Sunday game to bring up Theriot's remarks about "finally being on the right side of the rivalry," and all but instructing the fans who go to the game to give him the cold welcome he deserves.
  8. Len and Bob are being pretty rude. They shouldn't show off their access to amazing hot dogs when on national tv. They may as well give the middle finger to all the displaced Chicagoans watching. Speaking of middle fingers, Dempster...
  9. Renteria tried to turn a 6-9-3 double play.
  10. Dempster ripped a single almost as hard as the ones he gave up.
  11. I remember Greenberg taking that beanball, but I didn't remember that was the only pitch in the majors he ever saw.
  12. Why isn't Cairo attempting a sac bunt here?
  13. That was the second time this week I expected him to beat a DP throw and didn't.
  14. Leadoff double against the highest ERA in the NL, and Baker uses his .327 batting second hitter to sac him over to third, where he gets stranded. Someone must have pooped in the dugout.
  15. Day off for Barney. Fuku RF Castro SS Byrd CF Aram 3b Baker 2b Sori LF Pena 1b Soto C Demp P
  16. Glad to hear good news on that front. Those two can't come back soon enough.
  17. Cueto (season debut) vs Dempster (1-3, 8.05 ERA) Johnny Cueto begged to wait one more day to make his season debut. "After getting knocked around so badly down there [in AAA-Louisville, where he posted a 0-2 record, 6.28 ERA, and .311 baa], the last thing I need is to start this season being so clearly overmatched," he told reporters today. "I completely understand where he's coming from," said Dempster. "My 8.05 ERA is the highest among NL starters, and frankly, I deserve to be kicked out of the league, but with Cueto's debut coming against the Cubs, that means that it'll take at least 6 more starts for his numbers to recover enough to get better than mine are now. After the game, he's going to wish he spent his mother's day with a pacifier safe inside a uterus somewhere." 18. Cubs wanted to make sure the pitcher's spot gets to lead off. I missed the deal with Castro - is he available off the bench today? Might be a good time to switch him in if so.
  19. Pena with a bunt single and an infield hit - Hendry picked up left-handed power AND a prototypical leadoff hitter. Extend his contract now, please.
  20. This was the only inning of the last 3 that Coleman even allowed a baserunner, right? Cubs lead after the 6th, thanks almost entirely to Coleman and DeWitt.
  21. I was sure that ball was going to die before it rolled foul.
  22. Considering all the dogging he's done on St Louis, I'm surprised they're still talking up Phillips.
  23. They were too busy researching Woodrow Wilson and Mother's Day. Nice shot from Kosuke!
