  1. I like the NSBB idea. Do you think anyone would notice if the cost of premium jumped to about $3.5mil/yr?

    Milk

    F) None of the Above Organic milk is best, because it stays good for more than twice as long. I'm more likely to get through the whole carton than to realize realize it's gone bad and has now set up camp in the back corner of the fridge.
  3. Heroin. Needle. Forehead. Hendry's doorstep. On the bright side, at least now you don't have to do that whole heroin thing on Hendry's doorstep! :D Honestly, I'm seriously hoping (expecting) to be figuring out what's wrong with his next move before lunch tomorrow.
  4. I call BS. Blanco is a .657 career OPSer. He's not a high standard to live up to. And when evaluating a back-up catcher, OPS is the most important stat how? If that is what you are using to judge what Blanco brings to the table then you are missing the big picture. I hope Hendry signs Drew.

    Apples

    Preach it Word.
  6. Packers and Vikings lose (I think they both have very losable games) and Bears win, magic number is 1 :D Holy Crap! Holy Crap is right! We could have this division easily wrapped up by The Vikes game on 12/3. Amazing. Anyone find any game day Bears vs. Jets pictures BTW? I can't find any. They haven't played too terribly many times over the years, so I'm not surprised that any pictures that exist online of them would be buried. /bump
  7. If this doesn't prove Big Z is a closet NSBB'er, I don't know what does.
  8. Instead of throwing a red flag to signal requesting a challenge, the manager should be required to throw first base.
  9. Last season was the first in which he ate up a good number of innings, which is really what I'm hoping for out of one new starter for this team. If you assume his ERA drops a little for being in the NL (based on his career and last few seasons would put it in the neighborhood of 4.7) and if he can get close to 200 innings this year, and if Hendry is going this route because he'll be dropping big bucks on offensive players who are actually worth it, I wouldn't object terribly. So I guess that means this that, all told, this will turn out to be another in a series of mediocre moves which attempt to build a .500 team.
  10. Signings like that one are exactly why I've tried so hard (and failed, obviously) to stay away from the Cubs this off-season. The reasons for hope, followed by the same old regurgitations... I refuse to get off the fence between optimism and pessimism until after the regular season begins and we see how this starts panning out on the field.
  11. Wow. I don't know how many times I've seen that spelling without the meaning ever dawning on me.
  12. I definitely am worried about giving up those kinds of numbers for Soriano. Just because he's among the best available this off-season doesn't mean he's worth it. Though if there's any merit to the Angels angle of the story, I think it'd be funny seeing Hendry bump up the bidding to make Anaheim go closer to 7/125.
  13. Wasn't Yankee Stadium a haven for left handed power hitters? Offhand, I'm not sure how it compared to the rest of the league, but it was definitely much friendlier to left-handed power than it was to right-handed power.
  14. Wow. It's obvious now why he dances around so much and runs backward trying to make things happen. He used to have almost completely free reign on the field whenever the ball was in his hands. That last one against Duke was particularly ridiculous.
  15. I want to believe he's clean and always has been clean but I wish he would stay retired and keep quiet. "They don't have no evidence"? "They haven't been writing a book about me"? C'mon Sammy. To me, when he says things like that it just confirms the doubts about him. How? To repeatedly point out lack of evidence, and now saying things like "hey I'm not the one people are writing a book about" ... just sounds suspicious, too much denial via technicalities and red herrings. Obivously this is just a viewpoint; you don't have to agree. I'm not saying it proves he was juiced - there's a lot of circumstantial evidence that already points to that. But innocent until proven guilty: there is no clear damning evidence and I hope it stays that way. So I wish he would just shut up, stay retired and rest on his laurels on his way to Cooperstown. I had the same reaction to Sammy's "they don't have no evidence" remark. The only reason that inspired some doubt in me is that he was basically angling for not guilty rather than for innocent. Not guilty matters in court and in hearings, but in a forum that is specifically limited to the court of public opinion, it comes across as quite shady. It doesn't actually mean anything, but IMO, raising an eyebrow to the remark is a very valid reaction.
  16. The Jets have spent the year being middle of the pack, but they've seemed to be a team that has always been capable of inching out ahead. They definitely made a statement beating New England, so I would imagine that emotionally, they're in a pretty similar boat as the Bears. This game doesn't make me as nervous as the Giants game did, but it could definitely go either way. I'm just glad Rex was able to prove he could show up on the road against a competent team. BEARS 31 JETS 17
  17. Benson back up to positive yards. I'm liking this running drive to finish it off.
  18. Jones is only 15 yards away from putting up more yards than Eli.
  19. Bad officiating or not, the defense seems to have quit playing.
  20. 3rd and 4 to 4th and 19 in no time flat. Lovely.
  21. people go different ways with this. I agree with the decision. you can't assume your defense is going to throw a shutout the rest of the game. that automatic one can be very valuable down the road. Exactly. Bears kick a FG, and now the Giants need a PAT to tie instead of 2.
  22. The Bears are behind and come out with mixing in the run?!
