  1. I'm optimistic again, and it pisses me off. I hate this team.
  2. His last contract was just an incentive-laden 1-yr deal. Here's hoping he cashes in on every incentive.
  3. I'll take May 27th, @ LA. The last game of a tough roadtrip, and after putting up with SoCal drivers for a week, I think he'll even throw a punch or two.
  4. I can understand Game 1 (Sammy's home run is probably the most exciting sports moment of my life, not counting things I witnessed live), but the other two? Watching them is part of the healing process. I can agree if it were just games 1 and 7, but I've decided that the only healing process for game 6 is watching the Cubs win it all. Until that happens, there is no healing. Some good videos in this thread, thanks everyone. The first video would have been a lot better if it didn't waste time hating the WSox. My favorite part of the 20K video was when Chip said "Kerry Wood ties his career high with 9 strikeouts."
  5. Being a Bears fan has nothing to do with being a Cubs fan for me, apparently with the exception that being both is like asking someone wearing a lead clown shoe to kick you in the nuts. I hate sports.
  6. I blame the refs. Considering the conditions, there was NO reason not to cancel the game upon conclusion of the opening play. It waas so dangerous and they put all the players in harm's way.
  7. Me either. But it definitely doesn't sting nearly as bad. If I were to have heard before the game that this is how it all would have gone down, I wouldn't have been surprised. Disappointed and pissed, yes, but not terribly surprised. Can't say the same for '03.
  8. Just got home... I hate the Bears.
  9. I think at some point Hester has to break loose or at least find a few holes to give the Bears good field position. And Hester's still a wild card. I have no idea what the pressure of the Super Bowl is going to do to him. If he starts bobbling the ball it could be trouble. I'm pretty worried about that... I don't think pressure bothers him, 4/6 of his returns have been in prime time, obviously this is prime time x10. I think his drops are more lack of concentration. I think he at least breaks one for a big return like you. It would be great if he returned the opening kick off though :D He's going to run one back before the game starts, which is how the Colts will end up with their score of -7.
  10. Simming the game on whatifsports.com seems to favor the Bears more often than not. I like this boxscore. :D I don't know much about accuscore, except that it picked the Bears when every brainchild at ESPN was picking the Saints. Does anyone know what the percentage was on that pick, compared to its 62.5% pick for the Colts?
  11. Comparing jetskiing to riding a motorcycle without a helmet?! I don't know why I'm still amazed at how far-fetched and ridiculous the media gets this time of year (or any time of year, i guess), but they still manage to shock me every time.
  12. I saw the link to that Simms piece on nfl.com and made it a point not to read it. Former-players-turned-analyst who spend too much time talking about themselves are rarely interesting, IMO, and Simms definitely does his share.
  13. In the article I was referring to that she did before, her whole point was to try and point out how black pop culture was self-destructive, and the money and status that pro athletes attain isn't lifting them above the cycle, so they're part of the problem rather than the solution. It's hard to say how right she was (I didn't disagree with most of it), but this most recent article seems much more stereotype-based and ridiculous.
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/070130&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines Dark Sunglasses? in Miami? what was he thinking!? A wave cap? Unless it had "Thug Life" printed on it or a place to hide a gun, i'm not sure I see the connection A Diamond Earring? pleeaaaase I'd say she pretty much just accused him of being black and black=thug, but she is a black woman so I don't know the proper way to call out that ridiculous statement. She's also the one who described it as an inescapable coincidence to realize that all the players who have been killed and arrested this year are black, so this isn't new for her.
  15. Great pics guys - keep 'em coming! Sunday can't get here soon enough...
  16. 129 hours. Losing my freaking mind.
  17. I don't necessarily think he is going to pick the Bears, despite his "I believe" finale to his previous article. I think leaving the explanation for later means he's actually waiting until the game is over to decide who wins, so that way he can say he was either wrong about the loser (half credit) or wrong about the whole thing.
  18. Wow... yea, they really should be embarrassed. Not only did they miss the point, but it sounds like they're believing the idea that Grossman and Manning had similar numbers THIS year.
  19. Ouch. Ah well, he'll be laughing all the way to the bank. And then he'll be out of the NFL. I sorta feel for the guy, but honestly, he's a pretty horrible QB. He's also made an ass of himself enough times that he should have the self-respect (or the shame?) to quit getting lit in public. So this guy has to hide in shame because there are pictures of him being drunk? And this hasn't happened to every other college student ever? Why should he be publicly shamed? I didn't say he should be publicly shamed, and in that situation, I do sort of feel for him. I think he should have the self-shame to quit fueling it, however.
  20. I figure it will either be Izturis or one of the (projected) starters. I think Marquis and Lilly will take the expected load of crap, but I have this ingrained expectation that Izturis will see way more starts than any one (or possibly two) starters, and that alone will make him this year's Neifi Macias Alfonseca.
  22. That's just silly. You can't expect the media to miss a day of hype. Plus, with an 8:30 pm interview session they might miss dinner. It's still silly. If I were the Colts, I'd arrive an extra day late just to make 'em more mad. What's the penalty for showing up late I wonder? The opposing team automatically starts every drive at the offending team's 25 yard line :D
  23. Definitely a good article. Also, the Joe Buck article is the first time I've ever thought that an Onion article needs to be longer.
  24. Well, he IS a Packers fan  But seriously, he's under house arrest. If he isn't granted permission to go to Miami with the team, people shouldn't be in an uproar about it. Really? I think if Tank is held back in Chicago it blows the doors off every news outlet in the city. If he's under house arrest, doesnt he still have the right to make a living? Who's your backup DT? Idonije? You could do a whole hell of a lot worse than that. Of course the media will make a big deal out of it, but I don't think it would really hinder the outcome of the game. Losing Tank would be a huge loss. With Harris out, Tank is the only DT we have who has a shot to put pressure on the QB. Tank was missed in the 2 games he was out for at the end of the season. Even if Tank is under house arrest, doesnt he still have the right to make a living? To be honest, if I was Tank I would seriously weigh the punishment of skipping out with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity if it comes down to that. Seriously, what would the punishment be? You would be arrested upon return, whereby court hearings would ensue and you would probably spend a couple months in jail after all is said and done. Worth playing in the Super Bowl? I think so. Ultimately I think that's why he won't be kept back in Chicago by the courts. Illinois wouldn't have the ability to get him back in time for the Super Bowl, and the punishment wouldn't likely outweigh the benefit anyway. They'll just let him go. In this scenario though, couldn't people in charge of the Bears be charged as knowing accomplices? Granted, it's not a huge crime to be part of, but I think in that case it's a decision that affects more than just Tank.
  25. I didn't have a big problem with it. It was a huge game, and a huge play. He could probably smell a hundred thousand Bears fans soiling themselves at that very second. I think he's [expletive] for getting so cocky when they were still losing and had been so outplayed for 80 percent of the game to that point, but he ended up making an ass of himself in the end. Beyond bringing it up and having a snicker at Bush's expense, I don't think it should be much of an issue.
