  1. But that's going to be the day when Capuano can't hit the strike zone and the Cubs will break out of their offensive slump with 15 runs on 22 hits. edited for coherence
  2. Wow, all these first pitch strikes... I hope Miller is taking notes.
  3. I think you know the answer to that. Isn't Derosa due up this inning?? He could tie the game with a leadoff grand slam.
  4. I think if the Cubs would just hit more homeruns they would score more points.
  5. If you look up to see which second baseman was statistically guaranteed to hit 100 hr this year, save at least 20 babies from fires during the course of the season, and punch Joe Morgan in the mouth on live television, br would show that it's Mark DEROSA. Edit: ftr, I forgot that I was posting in a br thread and not a hijacked derosa thread. not quite awake yet.
  6. Thank Barrett Z got out of there with the lead.
  7. What, you mean on a homerun the very next AB after someone mentinos him being perfect? Yes, it does.
  8. this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened this year. If it happens too much more, I may come to expect it every now and then. It's so scary raising expectations of this team.
  9. You mean Babe Derosa? Bat him 4th!!
  10. I've only got gameday audio, and it sounds like there's some pretty brutal interference. Anyone else having any issues?
  11. Better yet, imagine 2003 Prior, 2003 Zambrano, and 2003 Wood all scheduled to take the mound, and you're only ONE WIN AWAY from going to the WS!!! Ok, totally uncalled for and I apologize.
  12. The owner is sabotaging the team and trying to make them drop lower in the standings so she can move the team to Florida.
  13. If it were something rubbing off from his thumb as opposed to something that were already there, the edges of coloration wouldn't be as finely contrasted. Also, it runs along the brim of his cap, but if it were to have rubbed off from his thumb, it would have been running from the edge of the hat toward his head, the natural direction the thumb points when you grab your hat. IMO, there's absolutely zero chance that it's from the rosin bag. I'll leave a one or two percent chance that the reason it's there is for reasons OTHER than doctoring the ball and cheating, but those pictures are pretty clear - it's a deliberately placed foreign substance.
  14. If his beard also throws off his balance and gets him out of innings on 6 pitches in lieu of sucking, I'm all for it.
  15. DeRosa leads the team in power numbers - 1HR, 3RBI - Move him up to third.
  16. Speaking of unexpected, after two games, DeRosa is the team leader in RBI, and Izturis and Lilly are tied for second. At this pace, DeRosa's going to drive in more than 160 runs, and the rest of the roster is going to be worthless!!
  17. Where were all the automatic outs at the bottom of the order to seal the 1-0 victory for the Reds? It'd sure be nice to get used to the possibility that the bottom of the order has a chance at cleaning up a little of the top of the order can't manage to do anything more than set the table. Bases loaded 1 out for Izzy and Lilly, 2nd and 3rd w/ 1 out for Derosa, and 4 runs come out of it. Definitely not going to happen every day, but it's nice to see.
  18. I'm already sick of hearing the number $300 million.
  19. Luckily DeRosa had those RBIs to make it a 3-run game. It was entirely too interesting as it was. I probably would have had an aneurism already if it were only a 1-run game. CUBS WIN!!!
