  1. In my other league (PPR), choose 1: Tate Tomlinson Ricky Williams Are any of those options much better than DeMarco Murray on IR?
  2. I'm in the playoffs of a non-PPR league. The rounds are two weeks, and I'm up 35 heading into the second week of the matchup. Does that make it a more logical move to start both Roddy White and Julio Jones, since the odds of them both being left out of the passing game are smaller?
  3. 1) Rivers or Eli? 2) Should I sit Gore* for Helu, or should I start them both and limit myself to 1 of Steve Johnson, Laurent Robinson, or Julio Jones? * Harbaugh admitted Gore saw less playing time due to being less-than-100%, and they're playing the Steelers this week. 3) Would it be a bad idea to start both Roddy White and Julio Jones?
  4. Raw - Cointoss on QBs. Any of them could post anywhere from 8 to 23 pts. If benching MJD is the only way to get Jones into your lineup, you're in great shape. Who are your other RBs? Prize - Your take looks good. Agreed on Helu/Nelson/Austin. tfarks - Tebow, Helu/Barber, Robinson/Colston. Jones for your 3rd RB if your claim goes through. If not, monitor Smith. If he participates in practice fully by Friday, take him over Jackson. imb - I'd sit Stafford. (So you're probably right to sit Cam.)
  5. I'm almost positive that ESPN still has to correct itself for awarding Cruz with a 9-yd catch made by Nicks during the first of the two late TD drives last night.
  6. I benched Jones for Morris this morning, you are the worst. I would've lost anyway though, I just needed to vent after outscoring my league by 10 points per week and now I'm playing for my entry fee. I was talking to a friend about how I wanted to start Julio Jones over DeMarco Murray on a hunch, but I have a rule against making any Sunday morning swaps unless a player is ruled completely out. I watched my 7 bench positions rack up 97 points. My bench beat half my league this weekend. Luckily my starting lineup did too, I just left plenty of points out there.
  7. DeMarco Murray was the key to a strong second half on both my teams. Playoffs aren't looking so hot now. One team is stuck riding Ben Tate from here on.
  8. He also linked to this article written before the Beijing Olympics in 2008 regarding the statistical approach to viewing false positives.
  9. I think it depends on how you feel about how the rest of your lineup matches up. If your league is non-PPR and Williams posts a 6/95/1 line, odds are that Williams vs Freeman only nets you a loss of somewhere between 1 and 5 points. If Williams has a game like he did in weeks 2 thru 9, the chance that Freeman puts up much more than about 10-13 points is pretty slim, but even 12 points for Freeman could be an 8-pt net loss for you. If you think you match up well and want to mitigate the odds of him catching lightning in a bottle and surprising you, go for it. If you're the one looking to make up points wherever you can, it may not be best.
  10. Bush, Morris, Floyd.
  11. I have both SF and Chi for D/ST, and SF was a fairly easy pick for me. I think I'd prefer Broncos D over Bears D this week.
  12. I would pick Floyd over DHB.
  13. Not only is Wells's injury status in question, but he's going to be up against a pretty tough matchup. Check to see if Damian Williams is available on your waiver wire. He's owned in only 11% of ESPN leagues. He has been the Titans' WR1 in terms of both overall and red zone targets the last few weeks, and they're playing New Orleans this week, so they should be forced into a shootout. Nate Washington (their WR2) has been fighting injury too. I'm actually toying with the idea of starting Damian Williams over Steve Johnson, but I'll probably chicken out. With your current guys, Wells and Floyd are probably best. Keep an eye on Moore's status. I like him the best of your "if he plays" options. News on Smith and Ingram so far this week has been discouraging enough that I would stay away from both, regardless of how the rest of the week goes. Damian Williams could be a decent gamble play if you don't have a good feeling about your other options. The Rams are starting Brandstater, or whatever the name of their practice squad QB is. With the possible exception of Baltimore, there's no defense I'd rather start this week than Seattle.
  14. Tebow. His fantasy numbers have been pretty consistently good-not-great since he took over, and since the Bears don't know what to do with the ball on offense, that really reduces the concern over facing their defense. It's been 6 weeks since Vick has done anything productive (2 mediocre weeks before missing 3 for injury). Tebow makes it safe to wait and see on Vick's return. He has a lower ceiling, but he's less of a risk to settle for a sub-15 day. Plus, with Tebow, your fantasy defense will inexplicably play better too.
  15. Robinson had to go to the locker room with trainers before the end of the first half this weekend (though he returned in the 3rd quarter and caught another pass or two), and now he's listed as questionable and being limited in practice. Plus, Miles Austin is coming back and getting positive reports about his outlook for Sunday. I'll have to keep an eye on both of them. Mike Williams has been more productive than Steve Johnson lately, but after the way the first ten weeks went for him, I can't imagine starting him unless everyone else gets hurt.
  16. The positions are RB/WR and WR, so I can't pick Gore and Helu. Going with Johnson, I've got McCoy Murray Gore Roddy White Steve Johnson with Helu, Mike Williams, Laurent Robinson, and Damian Williams on the bench.
  17. I don't think I've ever met one Bears/Cardinals fan. Perhaps they're mostly in St. Louis and rooted for the Bears before the Rams came to town. Most Cardinals fans seem to be Chiefs fans though. This is kind of what I figured. Before the Rams they had nothing, and before they had nothing, they had the football Cardinals, which was even worse. Bears/Cardinals makes some sense for central/southern Illinois.
  18. Barber put up 6.5 YPC as a backup against Oakland, but he was just a shade over 3 when he took over for Forte as the lead back. That's probably because the Chiefs were able to play defense as if Hanie were a bigger threat to the Bears than to the Chiefs. Denver will do the same and will likely see the same success. If he's the only other starter you have besides Bush (if Peterson and Smith are playing), then I guess go with Barber. Keep an eye on Smith's progress though. If he's limited in practice all week, then Morris could still be a better choice even if Smith plays. Frank Gore didn't look so hot this weekend. I'm toying with the idea of sitting him. I have to choose two of: Gore (against Ari, who just shut down Demarco Murray) Laurent Robinson Steve Johnson Julio Jones (I'm already starting Roddy White, so Jones would be a handcuff play) Mike Williams (TB version) and Roy Helu could also be options, depending on how the waiver claims go. Thoughts?
  19. I either need to win by 54 points, or I need help from another matchup, in order to make the playoffs. If Gates outscores Ryan Mathews by 5 points , I have my 54-pt margin of victory. If Vincent Jackson scores 5 points, I'm in.
  20. There are enough quarterbacks who have played through a broken thumb on their throwing hand (Roethlisberger, Stafford) in the recent past that Cutler will most certainly solidify his media reputation as a pansy if he doesn't play through it.
  21. It's amazing how awful Young looks right now.
  22. Manning looking pretty useless so far. Both offenses, really.
  23. The correct answer was Torrey Smith. My answer was Starks and Bennett (I had Maclin who was out today, so I tossed in Bennett as well). Hard to start a guy who has had one monster game and a few mediocre ones, and who has Joe Flacco throwing passes to him. Without the benefit of hindsight, Bennett was a good call.
