You know...to a large extent I agree with this. If the Cubs were 4-5 games up they'd be the talk of the country...we'd start getting goat stories, and black cats run before every broad cast...if we can have the media all over the Cards while we still maintain the lead I think its better for us in the long run...the pressure will be big enough in the Playoffs, no reason to seek in right now too. Yea, I don't mind the Cards receiving the media attention either, but if the Cubs maintain their lead, they'll be getting their attention. In response to the original post, the Cubs were getting plenty of respect by the end of July. Plenty of power rankings had them as a top 8 team, with one even placing them at the 5 spot. They were a good team and people acknowledged it. They then proceeded to suck for two weeks, the magnitude of which still exceeds the success over the recent 8-10 games or so. The Cardinals were left for dead a while back, and they just passed the formerly 8.5 game leaders to move into second place. Yes, they deserve the attention. (I won't get into what else they deserve, though :evil: )
