Seems like last night took a lot out of this team. Everybody hates day games after a night game. Yea, and there are too many white guys in the lineup, dude - they don't play in the sun as well.
3 walks, a double, a WP, and only 1ER. Next inning, they're going to chain him up and throw him in Lake Michigan, and he'll escape in less than 2 minutes.
Hey who you got in the IL Mizzou game? Am I stupid for thinking U of I has a chance? Yes. Please, you guys aren't anything special. And you guys are a bad football team. We'll see. I bet we aren't in two years. Can you say the same? Suddenly we're talking about the future, I thought we were talking about tomorrow's game. I won't make any suggestions about 2 years from now. Lots of things can happen in that time period. I am excited that this series is back though, but I would prefer if we traded years at each others home fields. Remember that one time when the cubs game was on?
Thanks for the PBP Fred, some of us have to look like we're working. I look like I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing, I'm just fortunate enough for that to include wearing headphones :D
Fred, do you happen to have stats for Cubs pitchers in the first inning this year, to include pitch counts? I swear Cubs starters are averaging close to 30 pitches per first inning.
I wouldn't call it the worst trade ever, just the worst acquisition ever. Sure, there was more value to be had for those guys, but we didn't sacrifice people who would have been regulars on the ML roster.
How 'bout the marketing department that thought it would be a good idea to have Santo and Seattle Sutton reading from scripts ??? I haven't heard this one yet - This is one of those rare and super-crappy days which the gameday audio broadcast is of the actual broadcast and not the closed-circuit feed, so I'm stuck with commercials rather than dead air with stadium noise in the background. I much prefer the latter.
It's one thing to have a celebrity spokesman selling your product, but when you use that person's name in your slogan, ie "Chevy - Drive what Ron Santo drives!" you should really consider firing your entire marketing department.
I quit a long time ago trying to assume and figure out exactly what the hell Hendry is doing. I'm wondering, and hoping like hell, that he's got some other deal up his sleeve. It'd be nice, but I seriously doubt that Trachsel would be more enticing bait for another team than Cherry or Moore would be. I think he just let himself get hosed by Baltimore again.
If his role is anything more than that, I'll be seriously disappointed in Lou. I also hope he's the third or fourth option for long guy out of the pen, and that Gallagher or Guzman get the nod in the spot start during the Cards DH.
What pisses me off even more was that Hendry made it a point to make this move in time for him to be eligible for the post season roster. Such horsecrap. If a starter gets rocked and we need a reliever to eat up another 3 or 4 innings, I don't mind Trachsel in that role, though I would rather pitch a 78-yr-old Sandy Koufax (signed in the Israeli baseball league this year!) instead. If he's used for anything else, Hendry is truly stupid. I hope Lou's intolerance for crap players mitigates Hendry's brainfart here.
