  1. He basically just says that Friedman will have options, will have to make a decision and lists the pro's and con's.
  2. 1) Forgive my ignorance, but can someone explain how these GM contracts work? Are Friedman and Cashman (and possibly Theo's) contracts up this year or is there an easy way to get out of those? 2) What did Crane Kenney do to completely piss off every member of the Chicago sports media? I get that he's a buffoon who maybe thinks too highly of himself. But damn, these guys really, really hate him.
  3. I've been wondering that also. Specifically with teams that aren't competing. Not quite yet but once we get to September and call-ups have been made maybe? Thanks for the links by the way.
  4. By the way great thread. I was only able to see snippets from twitter on my phone until getting home now and this thread delivered. NSBB is back baby
  5. Same. I'm extremely excited and optimistic and Hendry brought this upon himself. But he's a hell of a guy and you know he poured everything he had into this job. Good luck Jim, get healthy.
  6. well yeah, they probably didn't want to know. nobody's arguing that they shouldn't be punished if the information in the yahoo article is accurate. the question is how severely they should be punished. I wasn't meaning to argue with anyone or disagree with what has been said. I was just finally able to read the whole thing and basically marveling at how outrageous it is .
  7. Apparently Wetzel told Dan Patrick that Shapiro approached Shalala about replacing Larry Coker. In this plan he would just pay for the best assistants to do the coaching while he was just a recruiter. LOL
  8. There's really not much more to indicate a university-wide "look the other way" than this case. As he said, do a background check or hire a PI for one day and you could have had all the information needed to sever ties and report yourself to get off easily. He's leading the team on the field multiple times, handing the hoops coach and University president a $50K check in a public function, hanging out with coaches and players all over town in a visible setting and trying to fight the compliance guy in the press box as witnessed by many. And through all of this, no one even bothered to check that this young, flashy rich dude was working with an agency that hired UM players?
  9. So who is going to coach Missouri this year?
  10. What was this "Yahoo 10" stuff? No way though. It's still Miami and this is [expletive] huge. This is the most thorough and detailed investigation to nail a program since SMU.
  11. The delays during the season were huge red flags, and if they are still coming up this summer, it is a very bad sign. Yeah it really is. This sucks.
  12. With the cap space the Bears have, it would seem to be worth it to sign McKinnie to an incentive-laden deal and just pray he can drop 30 pounds by midseason. Charlie Johnson, the LT the Vikings signed from the Colts to replace him has been getting destroyed by Allen in camp so the Lions and Packers should be licking their chops.
  13. Obviously you would rather have a finish like that with big names but that was great drama and some really good golf. Out of the last 7 majors, the last two PGA's have been at the top of the list. Glad to see Bradley win it. I think he has a legit future whereas Duffner was more of a fluke.
  14. B1G and Pac-12 AD's favor a "plus-one" setup which would include the addition of the Cotton Bowl to the BCS and result in two semi-finals and a championship being played every year. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/collegesports/2015896289_proposal13.html This would be ideal.
  15. Unless we really are headed for the 4 Superleagues, I would rather see the B1G stay at 12.
  16. http://www.wnde.com/cc-common/podcast/single_page.html?podcast=zakkjack&selected_podcast=Kevin%2520Wilson%2520segment%2520RAW%2520081111.mp3 I think Kevin Wilson totally overreacted to begin with but then the radio guys matched that. Trudeau becomes a tough guy after they hung up on him.
  17. Not gonna happen now. Yikes Tiger.
  18. The course is getting really good reviews and should be pretty tough. Tonight Nobilo was doing a Tee to Green on #15 which looks like a bitch. 256 yards with water all along the right and sand along the left and back. Hopefully we get some Tiger in the mix this weekend.
  19. The 2000 U.S. Open was one of the most amazing things I've seen in sports. Seeing someone dominate in that manner is astounding. He was 15 [expletive] strokes better than the best players in the world, it's absurd. i know, and that might be fun to watch if a round of golf didn't take 6 hours. i'm not going to sit there and watch tiger woods hit a shot every 15 minutes so i can marvel at how he's blowing away everyone else in the field. golf just isn't a dynamic enough sport for that. Understood. I acknowledge golf is a niche sport and if you're not a regular golfer it could be boring when a guy is lapping the field. And not that it changes your point but a leader's round is closer to 4 hours than 6.
  20. Love you Starlin.

  22. Golf is a niche sport. It's often only exciting to casual fans if you have Tiger or someone with star power. Tiger is a once in a generation talent who is also one of the most recognizable athletes in the world. I love golf so I watch all of the majors and a fair number of other tournaments on the weekend. But it's soooooo much more fun when Tiger is in the mix.
  23. I think Woodbury still ends up at Iowa, even with the UNC offer. KU would worry me more, but I also think it's a longshot they offer. Really? I think it's Iowa or UNC. UNC offers everything KU does plus he can play with Paige.
  24. Adam Woodbury got his offer from UNC. He seemed to be the third or fourth big guy on the board for them but Roy probably felt he had to make the move with Gesell's commitment. [expletive] you Roy
  25. Yeah Woodbury will most likely wait. I don't think the odds are that high with Macon and Gaines but Iowa was one of 2-3 schools Macon said he wanted to visit and Gaines just put us in his final 5 last week. Since then Georgia Tech has added a SG. If not, we could become the whitest team in the country.
