  1. And freshman PG Cezar Guererro went for 29, including 6 in like 5 seconds to force OT. He was down to Iowa and OSU, told players and possibly coaches on his visit in March he was coming to Iowa and his brother talked him out of it. Although if we had gotten him it might have lowered our chances with Gesell which may have lowered our chances with Woodbury.
  2. I hope you're not suggesting that a Mark Dantonio team is anything but disciplined. ESPN would never allow me to believe such hogwash. Worthy himself did this twice, each time coming back in the next play after laying down on the ground, walking off on his power at the slowest possible rate imaginable. They had 10 of these total defensively, almost all in the second half when Iowa was finally moving the ball and something like 7 of them came in on the next play.
  3. yeap and they also got several defensive players released from prison just to beat Iowa Serious question. Iowa is not good and the defense completely sucks. The injury thing had nothing to do with MSU winning.
  4. So has MSU been having like 12 defensive injuries (only to return the next play most of the time) per game often this year? Worthy confirmed they were mostly to slow down the offense.
  5. UCLA lost by 11 at home to Loyola Marymount.
  6. In a meaningless, arbitrary stat, Iowa's Aaron White was the third B1G freshman since 1997 (maybe further) to get 19+ and 10+ in his freshman debut. The other two were Kris Humphries and Sullinger. He was also the first Iowa freshman to have a double double in his debut since Settles in '93 and the most points in a freshman debut since Ricky Davis in '97 (which was also against Chicago State).
  7. Huh? Its been that kind of day. Mean't Ferentz. He's had multiple opportunities to jump to the NFL, which is one reason. Plus he's provided incredible stability so they haven't had to spend resources going after other coaches and/or buying out one while hiring a new one. And his staff barely shows up on the list of assistants getting paid. Put that together with a solid bowl record, a couple big ten championships and flirtations with the top of the polls and he's probably been worth every penny. All of this. He's had 4 top 10 finishes in 9 years. At Iowa.
  8. Well this thread was unexpected...
  9. They put the MSU/Iowa game at 11 also. I would have thought either would be a bigger draw than Michigan/Illinois.
  10. I hate how journalists and TV guys are trying to be football snobs and playing the "if you didn't enjoy that, you can't enjoy good football, it doesn't need to be high scoring to be entertaining or a great game" card. I love great defense and low-scoring games are fine. But the conservative, unimaginative offenses featuring terrible QB play made that game pretty damn boring.
  11. Especially when the call on the field was incomplete.
  12. Kenpom.com has his preseason ratings/predictions up.
  13. For two bad teams, the Vikings/Panthers game was pretty fun and entertaining. Ponder is impressing me.
  14. Gah, finish that Frolik. Kane has been a magician.
  15. Well at least that Vikings game was entertaining. Ponder is going to make mistakes but he made some plays and it was nice to see a guy not afraid to take shots when he had to. He does a good job of feeling the pressure and moving in the pocket. Arm strength looks fine. He had to have converted almost as many 2nd half 3rd downs as McNabb has all year.
  16. Yeah that was sick.
  17. Well that was [expletive] domination. Ick.
  18. I hope the Vikings win.
  19. [expletive] you Pat Fitzgerald. Thank God we finally beat them.
  20. It's just been bizarre. They completely dominated the Bucs and Lions in the first half. They outgained the Bucs 284-62. I mean that's absurd. It was something similar like 230-80 at half against the Lions when they were up 20-0. They've outscored opponents 89-19 in the first half this year. The defense has been dominating in those halves as has the run game. Then in the second half they get beaten underneath and over the middle repeatedly, give up a couple big plays and cannot pick up any first downs. They got to something like 1-19 on 3rd downs in second halves.
  21. Yes he'll definitely start this week even though he's been awful. The only reason for any optimism on my end is that the DE's have been a force as pass rushers this year, Allen in particular. The OL looked the best they have in a long time last week but they're still not good. Musgrave runs a lot of 2 and sometimes 3 TE sets in base but McNabb hasn't been able to get Rudolph or Shank the ball enough. Jenkins has caught most everything thrown his way but Percy is still the only real threat outside of Aromashodu's occasional bursts now that he's getting more snaps. The secondary has been better than expected but they've gotten killed over the middle and underneath in these awful second halves.
  22. I would be completely fine with Sandberg if Theo wanted him.
  23. I saw 3 new pages from this morning and got really excited that something was breaking. This sucks.
