  1. Gus: Diaz is 3-3 from the line in Big Ten play. They've played 6 games. He's their 6'11 center.
  2. 4 of the 5 Nebraska players on the floor are wearing t-shirts. Verdell Jones is still terrible.
  3. Someone needs to remind Diaz that he's bad.
  4. It's been a long time since I've seen kids look that smug. Especially the one on the right.
  5. A referee fell down at the feet of a Nebraska 3-point shooter and almost took him out. Fitting for this game.
  6. Nebraska is just the worst. They're like Wisconsin without any of the offensive skill or efficiency. The two Nebraska-Wisconsin games have been completely unwatchable.
  7. Those two kids just look like assholes.
  8. And shockingly enough, Carver-Hawkeye???? Lucky bastards. That's alright. The next time you visit, the Illini will be taken down by 2 gingers and a very goofy looking 7-footer. Then you'll be pissed.
  9. No, their software is still all run off RPI, at least as of last March. They may not look at a team's RPI specifically, but all the results are based off opponent RPI (I think they also still look at RPI). If anything, instead of overusing RPI they're just being completely subjective (see: VCU, UTEP, Utah State) and putting in teams they think should get a chance just because. They just made this public. It's supposedly the actual data and team reports that the committee uses and yes it's based on RPI. http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/NCAA/Championships/RPI
  10. Damn, gave that one away with awful turnovers and terrible rebounding in the 2nd half. Purdue got 40% of their misses. We were shooting 73% from the line on the year, they were shooting 61%. Tonight they shoot 71% and we shoot 63%.
  11. The one on Smith? Are you suggesting that was hard or something? I suggest re-watching it.
  12. You got that one back with Johnson's bobbled no-call.
  13. I know we've had this discussion before but are Purdue fans required by law to boo every call? Byrd just tried to foul McCabe so he wouldn't get a layup, put his forearm square in his back with a push and of course resounding "ohhh" and boos reign down.
  14. By the way is LewJack playing tonight or not?
  15. I just kind of assumed White would be going to the NBA. He'll already be 21 after the season and I don't know if he's played two straight seasons in full since he was 12.
  16. Here's my summation: -They went into a funk during and after the Creighton game. The rotation was too deep, the defense was atrocious and the new guys didn't know how to play with the experienced guys. This was exasperated by Cartwright and Basabe being completely awful. -Then they played pretty well in December. The UNI game was a 20 point loss but it was a 2 point game with 9 minutes left when officiating chaos broke out and UNI attempted 87 free throws. The last 3 non-conference games were impressive. -In the Big Ten you have two outliers against the two most talented, athletic teams who also guard the hell out of you. They actually played really well in the first half against OSU but couldn't make anything. MSU was just not adjusting to how the game was being played, being soft and why Fran thought he had to start slamming chairs. The other 4 games they've played well. Purdue was winnable but they had too many defensive breakdowns which cost them a home game when the offense was solid. The 3 wins have been solid efforts all around. They're inconsistent and will remain inconsistent but getting much better. They have some depth, take care of the ball and have multiple options that can score which is why it always comes down to their defense and rebounding. Unfortunately those are the two most inconsistent parts of their game. The shitty part of it is if they even show up for the Campbell game and play at half this level against Clemson they would be 13-6, 3-3 and actually have a shot at the tournament with a 10-8 Big Ten record that now looks possible.
  17. The last few minutes were like the Michigan-Notre Dame game this year.
  18. Iowa has played the toughest league schedule (by a decent margin) in the toughest conference in the country and is 3-3. With the remaining schedule I think they're definitely going to get to my goal of 8-10 in the Big Ten which would have them in the mix for an NIT bid. Get to 9-9 and they're 17-14 overall and probably safe. And yes this is probably the most anyone has rooted for or discussed an NIT bid in January on this board.
  19. Welp, I hope Iowa is playing on NYD next year so I can completely ignore that Winter Classic. Those bastards will probably make for an awful season of 24/7 too.
  20. Minnesota has given IU two 3 point plays in the final minute in addition to two other 3's. Up 1 with 15 seconds left shooting free throws.
  21. Minnesota is up 8 at Indiana with 2:45 to go.
  22. Pomeroy's system also indicates Purdue has played the easiest B1G schedule so far. Yeah I like that he's added that. Iowa has played the hardest thus far by a decent margin. The next two are home vs. Michigan and at Purdue, then after playing Nebraska at home they go to Indiana. Fortunately the back half eases up a ton. The last 9 games they play 5 at home (3 of them are PSU, Minnesota and Northwestern) and the road games are PSU, Nebraska, Northwestern and Illinois. It's a pretty extreme split.
  23. Where the [expletive] did that come from with Paul? I only saw the last few minutes, who was guarding him most of the night? Those 3's from the corner were ridiculous.
