  1. What an embarrassment. They were never in this game.
  2. WTF was Indiana doing all week?
  3. That was just absurd.
  4. With plenty of room to spare.
  5. They're 32nd in Pomeroy and definitely don't suck at home. They had won 19 straight and beat up on an average ACC there. i didn't think they deserved to be in the tourney and i'm still not convinced they're particularly good, but this NIT run will definitely be beneficial. not feeling good about iowa st's early season matchup with them next year even though it is in ames. Until something really changes with either program, I'm going to continue to assume that every year the home team will win that game.

  7. Iowa won at Virginia by 11 to move on to MSG next week. It's the NIT so with all the standard disclaimers included, this is a really good development for a super young team. Woodbury had a really good game tonight and Marble has just been killing it. They'll play Maryland on Tuesday with the other semifinal being Baylor vs. BYU.
  8. Firing Howland (coming off a Pac-12 title) to hire Mark Gottfried? That can't happen.
  9. Illinois is probably going to take a one-year step back next year, right?
  10. Minnesota's A.D. is serious about basketball and reportedly really respected by basketball coaches and connected through that Villa 7 deal he started. You never know with any new coaching change and they have to upgrade their facilities but I would have been much less concerned with Minnesota if Tubby stayed there.
  11. Craft pretty much blew that lead single handedly, fucked up their 2 for 1 chance at the end, never looked for Thomas, missed a bad shot, got lucky the rebound went out of bounds. But he hit the last shot so he's clutch and just a winner.
  12. Hey we might actually get a good game today!
  13. email your coach & ad. May be the fact that I was in school back in the day, but I refuse to feel the slightest bit of sympathy for Iowa not being smart enough to do the little things. That just feels about right. Let Iowa and Pearl toil together in obscurity forever. Who the [expletive] is asking for sympathy? I've stated multiple times on this board it's Iowa's own fault that they scheduled like this. The point is the system is completely dumb and everyone can recognize it except the NCAA. When your SOS improves 150 spots by playing D-2/NAIA schools instead of low-level D-1 schools, something needs to be evaluated. And it's not just about selection. For the vast majority of the field, the seeds fell right about in line with the RPI. But yeah an Iowa assistant did something you thought was really bad 25 years ago so keep focusing on that instead and ignore the article or the content of the post. The fact that it even gets brought up anymore is just bizarre. Good God, get over it.
  14. http://www.thebiglead.com/index.php/2013/03/18/jay-bilas-was-wrong-about-the-committee-going-by-who-you-lost-to-it-was-the-bad-teams-you-beat-that-were-the-difference/ So ridiculous this hasn't been solved by now. If Iowa, Maryland, Virginia, Oregon, etc. would have just swapped out their 2 worst non-conference opponents for NAIA or D-2 schools like Boise and other MWC schools did, their SOS would have been higher than Boise's.
  15. Why? NIT and NCAA have different selection committees. I thought in years past the 4 #1 seeds were the last 4 out. I may have completely made that up The NIT committee is just made up of C.M. Newton and a bunch of 70+ year old men who do their own thing and just take the top RPI's for the most part.
  16. Bobinski already confirmed that Iowa, Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Southern Miss were the first 6 out.
  17. Interesting that Tennessee was the 5th team out. Lunardi had them as his 1st team out. Sucks for Iowa to know they were probably in if they werent jobbed against MSU I think they just listed them alphabetically. But yeah Iowa is probably in with the MSU win. Or closing out any 2 of the 7 Big Ten games they lost by 4 or less, 5 of which they led in the final minute. Hell they might have been in if MTSU won their conference tournament and/or Missouri didn't gag to end the Ole Miss game.
  18. Embarrassing. And he wanted to know why Missouri got in over Kentucky. Because UK beat Missouri. Who thought it was a good idea to hire him?
  19. Was that stated somewhere? They're the 4 1 seeds in the NIT. How do you know that? http://www.policymic.com/articles/30098/nit-bracket-2013 Am I high or is that just a projection? The NIT selection show is at 8.
  20. If you would have seen Minnesota the last 2 months any game besides IU you wouldn't be so concerned. They can look really good but they also can play extremely dumb and fold up their tents easily. They've struggled mightily against zones.
  21. Was that stated somewhere?
  22. He's the best. I've always loved him but it's great that he's been openly campaigning for Iowa to get in. How many commentators would say on national tv that a team just got "Teddy V'ed" against MSU and that is why people are keeping them out? Plus he just kills Davis in every debate. Davis was saying no way should Iowa be in after earlier using close road losses to favor another team. Gottlieb brought up all of Iowa's close road losses against good teams, asked him why that didn't matter for them and Seth just was left stammering with his smarmy smile.
  23. Well Traylor tweeted that he was sad because his dog Sosa died, so that info wasn't hard to come by. And who wouldn't follow KU's 8th man on twitter? Especially when his tweets going back over the past week plus are as riveting as this:
  24. Hey at least Bobisnki keeps referencing KenPom and Sagarin. I'm putting them at about a 10% chance but given some of the criteria, the Big Ten's rep, the countless close losses and the bubble's performance this week, I'm holding out a slight amount of hope that they could be the surprise team this year.
  25. Hold up. I'll take any chance I get to make fun of ISU, especially their band members. But why does anyone know the name of KU's 8th man's dog, not to mention whether he died or not?
