  1. is that even really a debate? To the lay fan, PSU is leaps and bounds more well known of a program than Iowa. Yes it is debatable. There was an article last week debunking some of that. Basically Penn State's bowl games recently haven't been any higher than that bowl has averaged. Iowa has had some games with really high tv ratings this year. The IU game was the 2nd highest rated 11 a.m. start ever on ESPN. Iowa/OSU was rated higher than PSU/OSU. The Iowa/Texas Alamo Bowl in '06 was the highest rated bowl game ever on ESPN.
  2. I heard people calling into B&B saying that diabetes affects nighttime vision negatively. I guess writers have been getting the same emails. With his struggles in night games someone was going to ask about it eventually.
  3. Donovan always knows where the cameras are and how to get them focused on him.
  4. What in the world did Cutler see on that play? That LB was 1.5 steps away the whole time.
  5. What a weak call by Reid. The Bears are going to win this game.
  6. That was a perfect call. It might have lost the Bears the game. Them running something intermediate might have lost them the game too. That was the right call. The call didn't lose the game. The execution did. As has been said before, you have to look at what your QB has done up to this point. There was a great probability of completing a 7 yarder than a 40 yarder. He's missed on passes underneath 10 yards also. Why are you completely ignoring half of the equation? The defense isn't meaningless. You got your fastest player in single coverage against a hobbled CB with no help to the outside. I don't get it.
  7. With a good throw you have a touchdown. but he's shown all night he cant make the good throw how many wide open touchdowns has cutler missed tonight? i can think of at least 3 He's sailed passes within 10 yards also. You have to take what they give you and that was single coverage with no help outside.
  8. With a good throw you have a touchdown.
  9. Honestly why is the surface at Soldier Field so bad every year? It hasn't even been that cold yet.
  10. i really don't think oklahoma st matters. they have 2 losses in a mediocre conference and don't even sell out their own 60,000 seat stadium. iowa and penn st are clearly better options. Deserving or not, I think Penn State gets selected over Iowa for an at-large bid. on what basis? Iowa is ahead of them in the BCS standings (and isn't likely to be jumped since they're both done), won the H2H matchup, has more quality wins (both AZ and Wisconsin are better than any non-Iowa, non-OSU team PSU played, which is to say, Iowa has at least 3 quality wins to PSU's 0), and has fans that travel in droves (as does PSU, but this is a neutral factor, at best, for PSU). So again, on what possible basis? He said "deserving or not". Head to head, quality wins, etc. is pretty irrelevant in this discussion. Good news is that PSU won't travel more than Iowa. However there's the perception that PSU would deliver higher tv ratings than Iowa. You can debate how true that is or even how important that is, but it's not outlandish.

I agree for the most part but the only thing that concerns me is if the Fiesta Bowl wants to keep their Big 12 tie. It's three 10-2 teams that will be ranked between 9-13 in the BCS. If they want to keep the Big 12 happy for whatever reason... The good news is that they can probably get Okie State with their second pick. If they want Iowa or PSU, they'll have to take them with their first pick or else the Orange will snatch them up.
  12. Can't wait to hear the overreaction to that Bell run by at least a dozen callers on B&B tomorrow.
  13. Go Oklahoma. Wouldn't be against West Virginia, Nevada and Illinois winning either.
  14. No. . ect.... Oh, by everyone I thought you meant more than three people. There were also lots of people that thought the Brettsiah would save the Vikings. There were others(like me) that thought he would be an improvement, but not by much. He has clearly helped the team a lot, but it's not like everyone expected him to ruin the Vikings. If you're talking about this board he wasn't far off. The Bears fans were almost unanimous. Most thought he sucked and talked about how great it would be to watch him throw picks to the Bears. The others thought it wouldn't be an upgrade. There were a few in the minority that thought it would be a slight upgrade. Caballo and I were arguing the same points in every discussion. Except he thought Favre would be even better than I did and I think I'm the only Vikings fan on here.
  15. I don't see two Big East teams making it. They don't sell tickets to their own games like the others, don't travel like the others and Cincy was part of the lowest rated BCS game ever last year. I don't think Pitt has any chance at an at-large. If they beat Cincy, I don't see the Bearcats jumping Iowa/PSU or even Okie State.
  16. The Orange Bowl is tied in to the ACC. The winner of Clemson/Georgia Tech will be going to Miami. I thought the Big East was tied to the Orange as well, but they sometimes shuffle it around for a better match up with an at-large. Either way, PSU vs. Pitt would draw big ratings/attendance No, the ACC champion is like 97% sure of going to the Orange Bowl. That's fine, then another bowl, then. Just spit balling here, since there is a chance that Pitt wins the Big East and the PSU/Pitt rivalry is one that fans have wanted to see come back for years The Fiesta is the only one it could happen in. They would need to select PSU first then take Pitt on the wraparound. That's possible. It really just comes down to whether they think they can make more money on that or an Iowa/Okie State/Penn State vs. Boise/TCU matchup. Or potentially Iowa/PSU vs. Okie State with Boise left out.

  19. Yep. It was quite pathetic. We were booing them pretty solidly. Here's video: I had no idea they had red or black hoods. Are those like a special rank? Les Miles is an embarrassment.
  20. I don't live in Kansas or Texas. It's about to be [expletive] 58-20. Oregon is driving to tie the game with 2:30 left. Come on.
  21. Why the hell am I still stuck watching a 51-20 Texas romp when Oregona/Arizona is tied with 8 minutes left?
  22. We could have a showdown. If PSU jumps Iowa for the BCS bid Iowa is going to the Cap One, possibly against Ole Miss.
  23. I'm afraid an ugly 12-0 win plus PSU putting up style points on MSU makes it more likely that they jump us for a BCS bid. Too bad the offense was looking decent and we were running the ball until Robinson got hurt. Even with the win today I don't think Northwestern will jump Wisconsin for the Outback, will they?
  24. Iowa gets in the win column with a 22 point win over Bowling Green. Unfortunately Bowling Green was really bad. Still, even in the losses the offense is getting better shots than last year. Tonight they finally went down. Shot 12-25 from 3.
  25. Agreed. But they are in the top 14 of the BCS and the Fiesta could feel some pressure to take a Big 12 replacement for Texas since they have the Big 12 tie-in. If it were about who "deserved" it more, no one would even be considering PSU over Iowa.
