  1. Have you read any of the thread? And to atc, they take on Milton's contract, we take on Silva's. They send $9M to us to assist in paying that. So we net about $6M.
  2. It all depends on the length and amount of the deal. Fortunately if they're as cash-strapped as most suggest, Hendry shouldn't be able to offer a deal that's way out of line. He's probably the best option we have at this point.
  3. Seriously...Taj really is a poor man's Tyrus Thomas with probably less athleticism. Didn't you go off on me when I suggested this exact thing on draft night?
  4. Good article by Mandel on Big Ten expansion: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/stewart_mandel/12/15/bigten-expansion/index.html
  5. Coaches at Mizzou will have very little say. It's not like they have a Boeheim or Paterno who can tell that athletic department and president what to do. I would say that the Mizzou coaches are probably irrelevant as far as this goes. There are only a handful of coaches in all of college sports who could influence a decision like this at all. "The University President, Athletic Director, much of the administration and faculty were all in favor of joining the Big 10. However Gary Pinkel and a couple of our non-revenue coaches put their foot down. A decision that will affect the entire university for generations must be approved by Gary Pinkel."
  6. That article is all kinds of fail. 1) Giants and Skins play this week...on Monday night 2) In week 17, the Giants are playing the Vikings at 1pm. The Skins are playing the Chargers at 4:15pm. There's not currently a Week 17 primetime game scheduled. Yeah what the hell? I was just going to post that. How do you eff that up that badly?

  8. For all the "he was turning his life around" stuff, it should be noted that if he hadn't died he probably would have been arrested for this incident. His fiancee is trying to drive away, he jumps in the back and is pounding on the back window shirtless.
  9. It actually sounds like he got a raw deal to me. This laptop thing seems pretty trumped up. Didn't sound to me like this was a one incident situation. Then following his situation, it doesn't seem he did much to get back in Tubby's good graces. Good for Tubby. It's cold, but he should really root against Royce now. He had been in trouble in high school. Then he had an incident this summer that got him a two-game suspension which was supposed to be it. But from everything I've read and heard there's nothing to this laptop deal and he's been pretty outspoken all along that he's going to the police and volunteering fingerprints. I've also heard that Tubby hasn't had much say on this.

  11. No one likes Richie Incognito. He was an [expletive] at Nebraska who was in trouble like 17 times. He's been an [expletive] every day he's been in the NFL.
  12. If you can't beat 'em, get rid of 'em. As jersey said, I suspected that no one really cares about Rutgers in NY now and in general NY isn't big on college sports. At least if you added Mizzou it would be adding mid-level markets that actually care. Though KC is probably higher than STL. You get the BTN on in more homes with NY and more regional ABC games I guess.
  13. I can't think of one. And I agree. A lot of people said that about Penn State but that turned out well. Trouble is they shouldn't add a school like Missouri. Penn State football was a huge addition. Syracuse basketball and Notre Dame football are the only additions that will mean anything to the conference. Exactly. If Notre Dame were willing to come I would be all for it. Adding Rutgers or Mizzou doesn't really do much besides get you a football championship game. Yeah there's the NY/NJ market (and to a lesser extent KC/STL) but do they really care that much? Let's just drop Northwestern and have a round robin schedule in football and basketball.

  15. Reportedly this really is getting serious and they're going to have an announcement this afternoon that they're looking at adding a 12th team. Of the speculated teams, I hope it's Mizzou.
  16. Wait... you like the hawkeyes, vikings and pistons? Why not become a cards fan and complete the chicago-hate circle of life? LOL, yeah odd collection I know. Hawkeyes and Vikings were a result of geography and family influence. Growing up with the Cubs on WGN almost everyday in the 80s was what led me to them. Older brother loved the Bad Boy Pistons and it stuck.
  17. Their own, I believe. And they were ridiculed because many had them losing 10+ games. I think just about everyone outside of Bill Simmons did. His crazy 10-6 pick is probably going to be on the nose. That Bears pick will probably slot around 7-10.
  18. The Pistons have been entertaining the last week and a half. Playing pretty well despite not having Gordon, Rip or Prince and having Villanueva and banged up. Stuckey has been averaging 25 points, 6 assists on 54% from the field in the last 5 games. Jonas Jerbeko is becoming my new favorite player. Kuester is an enormous upgrade over Curry.
  19. In last year's draft did the Broncos trade their own 2010 1st rounder or the Bears 2010 1st rounder?
  20. I still don't really want this to happen and don't think it will happen for a while. If it does, I've heard Mizzou might be the most likely but it's all speculative. The divisions would be awfully tricky.
  21. Rare is the coach that loses his opening press conference.
  22. Yea looks like a good hire, but until we get somebody with half a damn clue to fix the D, its not going to matter. well, disch and mallory have been demoted and i'm sure that petrino has been brought in to take over should zook fail. i like the hire a lot. Yeah my first thought was that Zook may have just hired his replacement. Hasn't his brother always called the plays though?
  23. If I ever win the Powerball I'm going to set aside like $15M to donate to bring Calipari to Iowa. They can come up with the rest. Then I'll show up drunk at every game and marvel at the talent he illegally lures to Iowa City. Then I'll ensure Miami of Ohio gets on the schedule and get a reporter to ask how he let the game get away.
