  1. wtf, get ou out of there still no o-line and our defense is getting hit pretty hard. Schlabach has OU at 12. Here's his top 10: 1. Bama 2. Ohio State 3. Boise State 4. Oregon 5. Texas 6. Va Tech 7. TCU 8. Nebraska 9. Iowa 10. Wisconsin http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=schlabach_mark&id=4804655
  2. No kidding. Last night he just had a nervous chuckle while Herbstreit apologized for not having him in his top 5 preseason next year.
  3. Won't they have to at least pretend to adhere to the Rooney Rule?
  4. Carroll's interest also helps explain firing Mora so quickly. That seemed to come out of left field, at least to me.
  5. What an idiot Truly. For some irrational reason I listen to him for 5-10 minutes every day.
  6. Hopefully. Even if they aren't going to get smacked hard by the NCAA, I'm sure all of this is nudging him in that direction.
  7. Collin Cowherd said that was proof that the SEC hits harder than everyone else. "That hit last night didn't even look bad. But that's what the SEC does, they hit harder than everyone else and beat you up. Even when it doesn't look bad, it is."
  8. Herbstreit's top 5 for 2010: 1. Alabama 2. Ohio State 3. Oklahoma 4. Iowa 5. Virginia Tech
  9. I'm extra pissed because I need 44 total points or less to win my bowl contest. I had a shot if McCoy couldn't return and Bama just got conservative in the second half. Now they're already at 30 and I'm hosed.
  10. Precisely. There's so much discussion and analysis over a game where the winner will be stomped out next week. The other three games this weekend matter.
  11. If McCoy had stayed healthy, especially after the start they had, this would be a competitive game. I have no idea why Texas didn't just get in to the locker room as soon as possible there.
  12. I love haters. 13. Is that how old you are? "I love haters"? You sure you don't have a drink recommendation for me?
  13. The answer to "what gives?" could be the strong possibility of a rookie salary cap being written into the new CBA beginning in 2011. This may be guys last chance to get big bucks with a rookie contract. While if he jumps back into the first round next year, he would still make more than he will this year, even if they do institute a rookie cap, but if he stays the same, he might cost himself a great deal of money. I'm not saying that has anything do to with it, but it might. From what I've heard, the rookie cap would really only affect the top 5-10 picks in the draft. Everybody else is in the $1-5 million a year range in the first round and that's unlikely to change. The cap would really only affect the guys getting $15-20+ million guaranteed. Correct.
  14. Awesome MSG. I guess I'll be pulling for Texas tonight simply out of having more disdain for Saban. What really matters is that I need the total to be 44 or less to win my bowl pool.
  15. Only states to go 2-0 in bowls this year: Iowa, Idaho and Utah. Totally dominant game by the defense. Stanzi showed how good he can be at times and then he goes through stretches where he doesn't see the field and makes bad decisions. Fake field goal call was interesting. They obviously must have seen on film that the outside man crashes hard and thought they could sneak past him. Should end the season ranked #6 or 7. 4th time in 8 years they'll finish in the top 8. Hopefully one of Spivey/Bulaga will come back. Should be somewhere between 5-10 preseason next year. Any chance they'll start playing a little tougher teams in their non-conference schedule? Well this year they played Arizona who beat USC so they must be really, really awesome and a road rivalry game with a Big 12 team that won a bowl. Next year they play at Arizona. Two BCS games with one on the road is probably above average when it comes to top 25 teams. At least on par.

  17. With a likely autonomous OC, it's entirely possible that they can bring in a guy that would be here longer than Lovie on that side of the ball. Teams keep coordinators all the time even as head coaches change. But I doubt the Bears pull it off. This is true. I guess it will depend on how the offense and team performs as a whole. If they struggle again they're obviously more likely to clean house which I think could be really damaging. If it's Martz he's not an easy guy to work with and might not be attractive to a guy like Cowher.
  18. This just seems so strange and could be really counter productive long term. Bringing in two new coordinators and multiple other assistants but keeping a lame duck head coach and GM? They could make the right hires and hit it out of the park but I think the NFC North is pretty happy about the possibility of Cutler having 4 OC's in 4 years. It's the one thing that could really screw him up.
  19. I admit, I'm not unbiased here as a BSU fan, but I have no idea what game you were watching if you thought TCU was good offensively. They scored 10 points...they had really only one good drive. They had 36 rushing yards for the entire game. They had some success through the air, but they came out behind BSU in total yards. Both defenses played very well, and both offenses sputtered on the big stage. I don't know what you saw that you thought was "better". calm down, he meant going into the game. TCU's offense looked terrible, I don't know if Dalton was pressing or nervous but he was awful. The best player they had all game was their punter. Yep I meant going into the game. Daulton was just bad.
  20. This has been my outsider's opinion all along. For all the screaming about Turner, I think it will cause more harm to bring in some schmoe for 1 year and replace him in 2011.
  21. Almost impossible to differentiate much between the top 6-7. Has to be one of the strongest groups of QB's in the playoffs that I can remember. Manning Brees Rivers Brady Favre Rodgers Romo Warner McNabb Palmer Flacco Sanchez
  22. I also thought TCU was better offensively. I think Boise may have benefited from having been on this stage before, even if most of the players didn't play in that game. I don't see Boise being #2 preseason, but could be top 5. Will be tougher to get through next year's schedule undefeated than this year's though. Alright on to the Orange Bowl...
  23. Still can't figure out who I would like the Vikings to play in the divisional round. I'm leaning towards Arizona.
  24. Apparently you've never seen Antoine Winfield.
  25. NBC must have some serious pull to get the PHI/DAL game Saturday night. If the NFL was going to throw them a bone and give them one of the top two attractions I figured it would be NE/BAL.
