  1. si's grant wahl's new beckham book has been getting covered in the mainstream sports media. landon donovan goes after beckham pretty strong with some quotes in the book. calls him a bad teammate and beckham is cheap with picking up the tab with his teammates. its sort of melodramatic but it was an interesting behind the scene excerpt about what's happened at the galaxy. si.com has an excerpt up on the front page. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/the_bonus/06/29/beckham.book/index.html
  2. howard just signed a 5 year extension, i doubt he's moving anytime soon.
  3. well that match turned into a kick in the [expletive] nuts.
  4. ugh. they are relentless.
  5. i've been very impressed with donovan. he's been strong, decisive, and looks determined to be one of the best on the field.
  6. wow, that's a tough one to defend/stop.
  7. my stomach is in a huge knot. these 45 minutes are goign to move at a snail's pace. [expletive]!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. this turned into a really fun game to watch.
  9. kind of sad the announcers mentioned that they could actually hear the crowd. the home country is holding one of the best teams in the world to a 0-0 draw in the 64th minute of a semi-final.
  10. *insert soto getting the munchies from hitting the pipe and putting on those extra 25 lbs. he's sporting this year joke*
  11. To an untrain eye like myself, it look like a good clean tackle. So, IMO it's worth contesting. Maybe those who follow the game much longer then I can give you a better answer. maybe a yellow, probably not even that. Hard challenge, both feet down, hit the ball first. agreed. i thought he clearly got the ball before any contact was made. but as mentioned that's three red so far, hopefully that doesn't develop into a reputation and referees become even quicker in pull one out.
  12. wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. i'm stunned, absolutely [expletive] stunned. i can't get a grasp on this team. the look like [expletive] half the time and then turn around and beat the best team in the world, 2-nil. the defense today was outstanding. our back four is set. spector has been very good and demerit, who i had doubts about, looked strong and confident. landycakes is obviously very frustrating but i thought he played a phenomenal match today. wow.
  13. i like my football talk at nsbb.
  14. 40 days until training camp starts. i'm so excited for the bears season, i feel like moses wandering through the desert or something waiting for training camp.
  15. is italy playing that bad right now that egypt can play so well against them but then look so bad against the us today? i'm not hoping for much against spain but its another great team we get to play in a short amount of time. hopefully the us can build on the victory and look a little more focused and determined going forward, especially in the wc2010 qualifiers.
  16. is there any chance bradley gets canned? if we go 0 for 3 in the confed cup, does that force a change? or is the world cup qualifying what really matters to ussoccer?
  17. it might be a blessing that the picture went out.
  18. this has the potential to turn into a thrashing of monumental proportions.
  19. ugh. is there no one back on that set piece? beasley sucks.
  20. ten minutes in and hasn't looked too promising so far. a pretty weak foul call set-up the braziliian goal but the us has been on their heals so far.
  21. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-webio-hernandez-missing-jun16,0,5222640.story Now this David Hernandez has been missing for 24 hours. His family and the cops can't find him.
  22. comcast is re-airing the game from june 27, 2003.
  23. i was very excited about how well the us played in the first half. you could see the confidence growing but clark's b.s. red card was enough to dash any hopes for a result for the u.s. the team was gassed the last 25 minutes and the italians superior talent showed through. rossi did act like asshat after his goal (a tremendous goal at that). was there any bad blood between him/his family and usscoccer? his celebration seemed so over the top that i figured it was personal or something. gooch is a much stronger player with boca next to him in the middle. i thought he played indecisively but don't think it really matter in the overall scope of the game because the italians were going to score eventually. i'm not as down on the team as some but i don't have any hopes vs. brazil on thursday. i'm just hoping not to get embarrassed. unfortunately, i think wolf is right, 2010 is shaping up like 2006 and that sucks.
