  1. I dont know all the circumstances, but it seems like he may be using the threats as an excuse. He had already been replaced on FSC by Wynalda, and he had already lost a lot of sponsors. To the point that he was trying to get funds from some of his listeners. If I had to guess I would say he could not find any sponsors and had no more money and that is why his show is going off the air. I listen pretty much every day and I think reggie's got it. Unfortunately I really liked the show and there wasn't anything else like it out there in terms of a daily, good soccer show. This sucks. I downloaded today's podcast but haven't listened to it yet. wolf, what soccer podcasts are you listening to now?
  2. I like the idea of two of our best young stars a)developing together outside of the USSF setup and B) going to such an aggressive, up-and-coming, well-run team. Hey retards, it's not the 80's anymore, nor is it a crappy Elijah Wood movie. Shocking West Ham and Millwall fans would go at it. Why wouldn't the London police be all over that before it resulted in a rumble?
  3. I'm hopefully that the decision to retain Kenney is not an indication that Ricketts is interested in maintaining the status quo with the Cubs.
  4. Yep. The Cubs are just politicking for a new facility to keep up with the jones.
  5. That's disappointing, I was pulling for the "It was taken out of context" excuse.
  6. While they are not that good right now, if they find themselves in trouble in January, SAF will dip into the chest and bring in the talent that he did not bring in this summer. Regardless, the Prem should be fun to watch this year because Man Utd is down and Chelsea is old. Hopefully, the title chase provides some great drama and I'm pumped that ESPN2 is showing matches on Saturdays and some Mondays this year because I don't get FSC anymore.
  7. I will believe it, when I see it.
  8. I'm not sure if anyone listens to World Soccer Daily, but I download their podcasts from time to time. The show went off the air today because of threats against Steven Cohen's family for his comments about the Hillsborough disaster and the Liverpool supporters. I'm not crazy about Cohen, especially not his stupid comments about Hillsborough, but I'm pissed the show is gone. As we all know there's a gap in media coverage of soccer in America and I thought the show did a nice job of providing a perspective to an American audience. Apparently, he made the comments about 5 months ago and some American Liverpool supporters have been trying to get sponsors to drop and get Sirius to take them off the air. Something has happened within the last 2 days and Cohen decided to pull the plug on the show because of the threats. Very bizarre story.
  9. jeez, is there anyway that he's actually clean?
  10. I'm a little surprised how much Corey Graham has fallen in the eyes of the Bears. He seemed to be a favorite of the coaching staff last year and now Bowman has bumped him down the depth chart. I still think there's a chance Vasher gets cut. If that's the case, then Graham for sure becomes the third corner.
  11. I've always loved Duff. He's seem to fallen off the face of the Earth with a lack of minutes and poor health. I hope he can rediscover his form at Craven Cottage.
  12. neither guy can make a damn putt. 18 will be fun!
  13. Bronson Arroyo=ZZ Thorn
  14. For those in the Chicago area (maybe even around the rest of the country depending on blackout rules), Comcast Sportsnet is airing some UEFA champions league action this year. The first match I've seen listed is for next Tuesday, August 18th between Arsenal and Celtic. This makes me very happy because I'm not a Fox Soccer subscriber. If its in HD, I might have to change my pants.
  15. CubColtPacer continues to be the most underrated poster on NSBB. Nice research, CCP.
  16. Wow, you can't make that stuff up. I'm curious about the communication between Donovan and Bradley as far as his stamina. To me, he clearly looked gassed, especially on the go ahead goal.
  17. http://www.suntimes.com/news/24-7/1715739,wrigley-field-beer-thrower-caught-081309.article His name is Johnny Macchione and he's been charged with two misdemeanors. Supposedly, the guy the security hauled away was actually his friend.
  18. There's nothing wrong with it, I was just picking out everything I could.
  19. You have keen eyes. They played a report on the radio earlier stating that security did indeed detain the wrong guy, and the guy who threw the beer walked away. The report went on to say that the Cubs will issue a photo of the guy--with the help of the CPD and hope to prosecute him to the fullest extent possible. I thought the beer came from a different angle than from where the guy they threw out was sitting. But in reality, my dvr was the key in my investigative research of finding the true culprit.
  20. that guy's look epitomizes everything why i don't ever sit in the bleachers anymore: -plain, white t-shirt? check -cub hat, slightly cocked to the side? check -thinly groomed beard? check -oversized, white sunglasses hanging from t-shirt? check -white sweat bands on the forearm? check
  21. It's not as if the beer-throwing wouldn't have gotten national airtime ad nauseum if the game weren't on ESPN tonight. I don't know. TV networks seem to avoid putting poor fan behavior on shows. Either way, the idiot cub fan stereotype lives on. We can always revel in the fact that our fans never tried to beat up an old man first base coach or an umpire. No but a guy did attack Bob Howry. Granted, Howry desrved it, but still. Randy Myers got attacked, too. Chad Kreuter got his hat stolen and a fan v. Dodgers bullpen brawl erupted.
  22. i thought the same thing I thought the guy in the Phillies shirt was gonna kick his ass The tough guy threw a peanut at him. BAHA. I rewound my dvr 20 minutes to see what you were talking about and it was worth it.
