  1. A Few Thoughts on the Game: -The offensive line was very disappointing. Fred Omiyale was awful last night. Cutler was constantly under pressure and the running game was inept. -Urlacher's injury could be disastrous for the season if he's out for any extended period of time. I'm hoping Hillenmeyer isn't the starting MLB option for next week. He's third on the depth chart at the weak side linebacker and he's inadequate playing the middle against teams that can run the ball. -I'm not as upset with Cutler as some. There's clearly going to be growing pains with him and the wide receivers (especially such a young, inexperienced group). Jay has got to play better, and he will, but I was hoping he'd start his Bears career off much better. -I'm scared for next week. I think the Bears start 0-2, but it will not be the end of the season because the soft second half of the schedule.
  2. He was horrible once again. Turner has had all sorts of time and all sorts of QBs to work with as a pro OC and he's shown nothing to this point. If he somehow screws the pooch with Cutler around it would have to be the end of his time here, right? If this season turns into a disappointment, Turner is the major candidate to go. Lovie is the D-Coordinator and Head Coach, so if Angelo wants to shake up the coaching staff without being on the hook for Lovie's salary, Turner is the guy who is out.
  3. I wonder if Cutler starts slowly in this game that the meatball army at Soldier Field will give him the Rex treatment. I sure hope not.
  4. maybe the feds are watching this thread.
  5. Morrissey has been anti-cutler from the very beginning. He's going to ride that stance into the ground regardless of what the bears or cutler's performance is this year.
  6. I don't like Lou complaining about the lack of stolen bases this year. Anecdotally, he seems to love the hit and run and running into unnecessary caught stealings. I fear the green light will be given more next year, even if its for non-speedy guys.
  7. Yes, I'm very curious about this too.
  8. That would be the third this preseason? That has to be unprecedented. Runaway egotism or willingness to admit a mistake? I think the two subsequent teams saw the Chiefs make the move first and they knew it wasn't going to be something that would make them a news story by also making the firing. They might have not done it in years past, because of the uniqueness of the moves.
  9. I dont know all the circumstances, but it seems like he may be using the threats as an excuse. He had already been replaced on FSC by Wynalda, and he had already lost a lot of sponsors. To the point that he was trying to get funds from some of his listeners. If I had to guess I would say he could not find any sponsors and had no more money and that is why his show is going off the air. I listen pretty much every day and I think reggie's got it. Unfortunately I really liked the show and there wasn't anything else like it out there in terms of a daily, good soccer show. This sucks. I downloaded today's podcast but haven't listened to it yet. wolf, what soccer podcasts are you listening to now? Ok, so apparently they are relaunching in some capacity. The site is blocked at work, but I'm going to check out http://www.worldfootballdaily.com when I get home. It's becoming apparent that this was entirely due to the effective advert boycott by the liverpool supporters group. It was egged on by Cohen's behavior as well. This whole thing looks bad for the WSD guys, but what do I care. The show entertains me. I agree with your last point about it being entertaining and not caring about the other ish. But its pretty disappointing to hear Cohen use his family's safety for his canceling the show when the real reason was financial constraints. I'm hoping its coming back for the long term regardless.
  10. I'm curious to see how the appeal plays out. If it sticks, it sets a very strong precedent. Other clubs should take notice of FIFA's strictness and tread lightly.
  11. Is your source Peter King?
  12. jeez, i finally saw the favre block from last night. what an [expletive] move. i bet he's trying to prove he's gonna be a tough guy for his new teammates or something other [expletive] logic from the hillybilly.
  13. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/08/31/could-deion-branch-be-cut/ PFT is reporting that Seattle might cut Deion Branch. Any interest from Bears fans?
  14. If I was a player on the Broncos, I'd be saying that Bowlen told me that he was going to be give me a 7 year/$100 million contract.
  15. not a chance i'm looking at that.
  16. pretty standard for pre-season. bears don't paint their own either.
  17. You mean the GB game? no, pittsburgh opens on thursday night.
  18. Not a surprise, but Dusty Dvoracek's been ruled out for the season with a torn ACL. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-0828-dvoracek,0,4106063.storylink
  19. I love this http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/news/story?id=4420988&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnfl%2finsider%2fnews%2fstory%3fid%3d4420988 Jay Cutler is on his way to being my favorite Bears. He's already the best player, but I'm starting to love this guy.
  20. I hope not to paint with too broad of a brush here, but I wonder if the different groups are aligned by race? Regardless, if the Vikings, this stuff will be forgotten. Black players, hillbillies and jews? yes, your typical nfl lockerroom.
  21. http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2009/0827/franckriberylederhosen_205x285.jpg I can't see this ending well.
  22. This looks like a list Chris Berman would make.
  23. I hope not to paint with too broad of a brush here, but I wonder if the different groups are aligned by race? Regardless, if the Vikings win, this stuff will be forgotten.
  24. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=4423669 These quotes are from before Wednesday's game, Bradley elaborated on his Tuesday night comments about the "hatred" he feels at Wrigley.
  25. I'd listen.
