    the same reason you don't hold the english premier league championship in new york city. sure, you COULD do it, but it's pointless when the majority of the people in the country don't care about the sport. soccer nerd correction alert: there isn't a premier league championship because the league champion is based only on the regular season. there isn't a playoff to crown a champion in one ultimate game. rocket's overall point still stands though. People in England would go nuts if they decided to have the FA Cup final in America. Same goes for people across Europe with the Champions League final. absolutely, and rightfully so. the reaction in the u.s. about the superbowl being played elsewhere would be the same.

    I was just coming here to post this as well. I'm hoping he gets more comfortable in front of the camera because he looked so nervous when he was on before. They also mentioned he was writing for espn.com, which i was also unaware of. I know he recently moved from Chicago to NYC, as well.

    my favorite part of yesterday's game was essien's big melon head stopping that shot from the line when cech was way out in front of the net. Was Cech drunk yesterday? He looked really horrible. it was the worst game i've ever seen him play. i didn't get to see this weekends game v. bolton but it sounded like the defense was bad there too. JT suuuuuucked against Bolton. They need to start thinking of long term replacements for he and Carvalho. i'll be a sad chelsea fan when terry's gone. its a matter of time until they do it, but he's bought some extra time because he's such a fan favorite.

    i knew the result of the chelsea-liverpool match and i was still nervous watching the last 25 minutes of it. i wouldn't say it was a great match because the defense from both sides was pretty sub-par but it was still exciting. either way, i love sending the scousers back home empty handed. chelsea has to shore up the back four if they plan on advance past barca. today's result shows how crucial john terry is to their success. also, petr cech needs to get his head out of his ass.

    Because he's not popular. He's been beaten in ratings in nearly every time slot he had on the radio and now he's starting the tv gig with an accompanying internet based sports radio station. He's made a career of out representing the "blue collar" Chicagoan but he's just a caricature of himself and really embarrassing that some view him as the representation of Chicago. The question is not about his current ratings, but rather, how did he become so popular. Clearly he did become popular. But he never should have become an established personality. He's an idiot with nothing to say. I liked sportsrise especially when games ran a little late and I passed out without seeing the end. I'd throw that show on while getting ready in the morning to see what happened. Now, if I ever throw on that channel, North is just blabbering about nonsense and Jiggets is doing nothing. Were those two radio partners at one point? Part of the popularity comes from him being on one of the only sports radio shows in Chicago back when sports radio was just beginning in the city. He catered to the meatball faction of Chicago sports fan, which unfortunately hasn't diminished over the past 20 years. He's a loudmouth, racist, misogynist, barely English speaking idiot and that appeals to people who want to be that.
