    Tuckers OPS was 747 with 7 of his 22 homers hit at wrigley and a 923 away from Wrigley. 21 of Busch’s 34 were hit away from Wrigley and 7 of his 13 were against St. Louis. PCA was more balanced hitting 15/31 at wrigley but his OPS jumped from 698 away to 844 at Wrigley unlike the other 2 for some context. We’ll never know but I’d bet any contention he has is related to his home away splits and perhaps the $ it costed him.

    The wind knocking down his home runs had more to do with disliking Wrigley, whether true or rumored than a few boos. He’ll hate New York if he’s sensitive to booing.

    What most likely happened is they had no interest in extending him for $300 million+ and it turns out he was appropriately valued by the front office. I always thought the $450 million projections were nonsense but if you told me 8 months ago he’d be receiving 3 year offers I would’ve been beyond pissed off he wasn’t a Cub in 2026.

    That’s with steamer projecting Horton to post a 1.2, a full win less than last season. Ben Brown posted a 1.1 fWAR last season. So if he’s worth 1 less win then that means injuries, because you can’t convince me Ben Brown was worth over a win in 15 starts last year because of his respectable FIP. He flat out sucked. I know they’re conservative with their projections but what we hope will be a full season of Horton vs 15 starts from Brown won’t be close a wash like their model says. The rotation will be more more than a win better unless they’re devistated by injuries.

    1.7 of his 3.5 fWAR came against St. Louis in only 12 games including 1.6 in 6 games at Wrigley.

    Busch’s offensive per PA efficiency will go down entirely because Miles Mikolas is no longer in the division I’m afraid.

    That’s true, assuming Bellestaros mashes. The 4.2 fWAR and 110 wRC+ from the catcher position is likely a blimp though. I’m not sure which PCA will show up either. I hope the second half slump was stabilizing to the mean rather than a trend. To a much lesser degree of course.

    People don’t talk about that enough. That and letting Todd Collins and with his 0 passer rating sub for Cutler and waste a few drives is another thing drove me nuts.

    Would’ve been nice if they signed Bregman last year to cash in on their 1 year with Tucker.

    Suzuki will end the season with around a 130 wRC+ where he always is.

    Because some players have a preference. Assuming he doesn’t then he’ll be a valuable DH option in spots.

    Loveland now has more receiving yards on the season in equivalent games despite spending the first 6 games behind Kmet on the depth chart.

    I wonder if there’s a clause in his contract that requires playing X amount of games at third base. DHing vs lefties with Shaw in the lineup and starting at third base seems logical if they keep all 4.

    Having better depth options and a healthy Assad+Cabrera means 15 less starts from Ben Brown. Also a major addition by subtraction. Unless anyone believes he was worth 1 fWAR.

    You can pencil in at least 3.5 more wins from third base in 26. Last year Cubs third baseman had a cumulative 0 fWAR.

    We don’t win without Loveland’s game breaking talent either. He’s that dude we haven’t really had since Brandon Marshall and he’s only 21.

    Biggest Bears win since the NFC championship and yet I have to fast forward to the final 4 minutes of the highlight video because everything before 10 PM sucked.

    One thing you have to give Jed is he rarely if ever gives out bad multi year contracts. I trust his judgement on this especially with how risk averse he is. And as someone who’s criticized for never “getting his guy” he finally muscled up.

    This is what came to mind. Jed loves year to year to consistently and players who are well rounded hitters and fielders. He’s the type I’d bet Jed sees as getting a sure handed return on his investment. The rest makes sense too.

    What are your thoughts on why Bregman was Jed’s guy?

    I’m guessing it has to do with Bregmans consistency and a sure bet to play up his contract, He’s been a lock for over fWAR his entire career and is well rounded as a hitter and fielder. Right up Jed’s alley.

    Bregman has a higher career OPS on the road. His OPS was 114 points higher away from Fenway last season.
