It’s mind blowing that he has a 370 OBP 85 games in. Thinking he’d ever be this high at any point of his career this many games in seemed optimistic, let alone this year back in early April.

CC is streaky. He was great in April, sucked in May and early June and is back to being a manager of the year candidate. We need more consistency.

Even while PCA has leveled off, he’s been on base 8/19 PAs with 2 stolen bases since Friday. His floor as a hitter is so much higher if this sticks.

Cubs dead last in pitching war in June and only 14th in ERA. Miller’s allowed 6/16 hits this season against the Cubs in 2.1/34.2 innings.

Not to mention they had a day off on Thursday at home while the Cubs had to play 4 games in 3 days before flying into Milwaukee at 2 AM on Friday. It didn’t just fatigue the pitching staff but the position players too.

It rarely seems to play out how it was drawn up in the offseason. Braiser, Hodge and Pressley were replaced by Palencia, Keller, Pomeranz and Theilbar last year and outside of Webb, Palencia, Milner and Theilbar, it’s more musical chairs. Rollison, Thornton even a couple weeks of Riley Martin have become the latest darts that have stuck. Albeit, there’s a ton of margin for error as long as you can minimize home runs behind that defense.

46-38 is beyond fine when you account for Palecias 2 IL stints, Boyd missing 2 months and Horton only throwing 8 total innings, and those are only the key injuries. What will the future hold without Brown, Cabrera and the Iowa cubs bullpen is anyone’s guess.

Brewers are in a bit of a rut offensively so this series was perfectly timed with the pitching staff in shambles.
