  1. Cubs have outscored the cardinals by a combined score of 71-37 this season and they’re only 6-5 so far.
  2. Perfect time to break 30 homers and 100 RBIs for Suzuki.
  3. Have the cubs scored against Mikolas besides on anything besides home runs this year?
  4. Under what circumstances though? It’s a 1 year team option for a flawed but productive enough arm, the war/$ is what the front office values. I’d be stunned.
  5. The MVPete phenomenon just seemed too good be true and unfortunately was.
  6. How do you project PCA as hitter for next season and beyond? That power surge from August of 24-July of 25 was an aberration but what are thought? Can he ever be a 115 wRC+ guy consistently? Worse? Better?
  7. Hence why Yamamoto, a superior TOR starter was paid $325 million and Shota was paid $52 million. You get what you pay for and Shota has exceeded his expectations. He’s fine for what he is, just not someone you want to rely on as a TOR pitcher.
  8. He’s not slacking off eating KFC and pounding beers in the locker room like Josh Beckett and the 2011 Redsox in the middle of a collapse. He throws low 90’s fastball without any devastating off speed stuff. If he doesn’t have pin point command a power hitting lineup like the Mets will tee off.
  9. Padres don’t hit a lot of of home runs as a team so the pitching staff might not be as much of a concern. It’s power hitting playoff contending lineups that have smoked Cubs pitching ass year long.
  10. Max Freid doesn’t get tired around 140 innings, that’s why he costs more than $52 million.
  11. This is what a $14 million/year starting pitcher looks like. One that’s exceeded expectations at that.
  12. Lol That Baty horsefeathers face again. If there’s a game 3, Shota with his 31 home runs allowed in 141 innings will have to bail us out if Horton is healthy enough to even pitch.
  13. At least he’s not Sergio mitre.
  14. He’s doing that squatting for 8-9 innings in catchers gear, in the least hitter friendly park in baseball as a switch hitter. It’s preposterous.
  15. Bieber would be the quintessential Cubs/Jed Hoyer free agent. Sign him while his price tag is lowest and hope he becomes another Cody Bellinger to spend on war in the most efficient way possible, at the expense of opening his wallet for a sure thing like a Max Fried and landing Boyd instead. Credit to him though for getting creative with financial restrictions, Toms private jet fuel is expensive.
  16. Encouraging win. Teed off on a scrub starting pitcher, good sequencing luck with 10 runs on 15 baserunners, nice response to an extended losing streak with a blowout win a wrigley… Atypical of what we’ve watched for months. Now do it again. Solid year from Busch.
  17. Just replace Ben Browns curve with a changeup and you have Jonah Tong.
  18. Aroldis Garcia would be our Suzuki, who’s been a replacement level hitter for months getting crossed up on breaking balls like a 13 year old who saw a curve ball for the first time in his life. Don’t have our Marcus simien. The WAR comes from great fielding. That’s fine if you have pitchers who don’t allow home runs which the cubs lack. So yes, Tucker at 80% won’t cut it, unless some unsuspecting hitters go on a power tear on a lineup that has scored 5+ runs in consecutive games once in 2 months against very soft pitching.
  19. Yes. I want Busch down in the order. This team isn’t hitting homers with runners on base with any consistency with PCA and Suzukis power outage. Busch moving down in the order will create more of those opportunities, the only hitter who’s shown consistent pop from April-September. Even if it’s a marginal difference there’s nothing to lose.
