  1. 49ers have possessed the ball almost 4X as long.
  2. Eagles also beat the Rams. Would it be intra conference record?
  3. Because of intra conference record?
  4. It was actually the panthers they didn’t punt against. To not punt while scoring over 20 points a single time has to be historic. In those games they scored 13, 16 and 24 points.
  5. I know as much as you do but Shaw for Cabrera is a reach. For the sake of improving the team for 2026 and beyond keeping all 3 infielders would be the best move unless we’re talking Joe Ryan. The consensus from other posters is Owen Cassie would be the main piece in a Cabrera trade. Bregman is an upgrade in the lineup and had better numbers away from Fenway and isn’t a Crawford box/green monster merchant either, he had better career numbers away. Was on pace for a 5 fWAR if he didn’t miss time from injuries and will improve the lineup vs left handed pitchers too. Maybe the bat track data projects him to age well? A +hitter to fill the void left by Tucker with the best of what’s available makes the team better. So if he doesn’t get the years he wants then I say go for it in this unlikely scenario.
  6. This is a possibility if Bregman doesn’t get the years he wants. Boras’s b tier clients are always the last to sign.
  7. Jed already floated Bregman $115 million last winter and is once again showing interest. It might not make sense but the rumors from last offseason was that Jed planned on flipping Nico for a starting pitcher if they had landed Bregman. He definitely made more sense last year though. Sign Bregman, keep all 3 infielders while still acquiring Cabrera improves the team and especially the lineup. You’ll still have your second baseman of the future when Nico walks. Shaw can still get at bats as a utility guy for a season. Trade Nico and if you turn him into a prospect to send to Miami or somewhere else you’d hope the Marlins throw in an another piece. I’d hope they have someone bigger in mind than Cabrera. Jed pursuing him again is why it’s a topic and I’d be surprised if it happens
  8. Cabreras asking price would be Matt Shaw? Seems excessive.
  9. Bregman to DH? He isn’t a fit with the entire infield locked up so It can’t be ignored that this is winter number 2 Jed has shown interest and already floated him $115 million. It opens the door for Nico/Shaw being moved and maybe in a 3 way trade in Nico’s case to send a prospect back for a starting pitcher, 2 years in a row now.
  10. It was successful in terms of relevant and entertaining baseball for 6 1/2 months and the emergence of Shaw, Busch, PCA and Horton all proving to be valuable future contributors. Its also a success if you consider Boyd, Keller, Carson Kelly and other relievers over performing projections but that’s not always predictive of future performance, so it’s a wash for me. But the idea it was a failure because they traded cam smith to me is nonsense. Was 2024 a success because he was mashing in AA while the ML roster finished 83-79? If you’re a Cubs fan who lives in the current reality where we’ll never be the Dodgers than winning a playoff series is a success. They had a single postseason series win since 1945 until 2015.
  11. The upgrading should’ve been done before the season. Unless you believe Meryl Kelly or Mitch Keller made any difference. Burnes (I know he had a season ending injury), Snell and Fried were all available and TOR starting pitchers that make a true impact. With Tucker that team would’ve had potential, especially in an alternate universe where either Horton or Steele are healthy for the playoffs. Even Bregman would’ve added a couple extra wins and Shaw was overmatched in the playoffs. The offseason is where they failed by pocketing the $ from bellinger.
  12. I hope both Flores and Hafley are poached for head coaching positions and are out of the division.
  13. They badly miss Gordon’s speed in the secondary. The bend but don’t break exposed the underneath all game. Pass rush is a priority but they lack speed at safety too.
  14. Obviously their defense is why. It’s just super rare to have such an inefficient passing game and post a 500 record in 2025. Their team passer rating of 74 with 4 ANY/A. That game gave me 05 flashbacks.
  15. How the Vikings have managed to go 6-5 record with Brosmer and McCarthy is beyond me. They lead the NFL in offensive turnovers and are near or at the bottom in every offensive category.
  16. I was leaning on a sugar high analogy but keto diets are popular these days. I figured whippets would be more relatable.
  17. Most fans know the score. This isn’t lovable loser “cubbies” from before the Epstein era where having a good time at day games drinking and buying Ryan Theriot jerseys represented the essence of Cub fans. Your choices are to stop watching or enjoy the short lived whippets high of 2025.
  18. That and the fact every high end reliever is off the market. There’s enough capable bodies on the roster. Our bottom of the rotation starters stack up against any pitching staff in a best of 11 playoff series. They need someone to raise their ceiling whether it’s Imai or whoever including a trade.
  19. I’d be shocked by bregman too. They’d have to strike out on every free agent starter and Bregman wouldn’t be getting the years he wants from other teams for Jed to even consider making an offer. I hope the pitching lab can fix another reclamation project like Brad Keller instead of splurging on relievers. A downgrade from Keller for the same AAV he’s getting in Philly doesn’t entice me. They need quality not quantity.
  20. Does Okamoto really move the needle enough to be excited about signing a fourth infielder/contingency plan for Nico? He’d be better than nothing but Cubs have enough “decent players”. At least Bregman brings a proven right handed slug element.
  21. There’s the Rangers boom or bust strategy of signing Semian, Seager and Degrom resulting in a World Series and 3 non winning seasons and there’s the Jed way, high floor and limited ceiling which is building a core of position players consisting of 6 Ian Happs and 3 Matt Shaw’s with some positional adjustments and a similar payroll. . You might not be a top heavy lineup which I’d think helps with run sequencing and raises your floor vs playoff caliber pitching but you’ll have no problem stringing together 10+ runs vs weak pitching staffs like the Cardinals or A’s. He’s one of a kind
  22. Cam smith was the only long term asset they traded. Unless he becomes a bonafide star, 92 wins and winning a playoff series was a nice whippets high. What’s a failure for the Dodgers is a success for us.
  23. Not really. Taillon, Stroman and Shota tier free agents are dime of dozen every winter available on 3-4 year deals. They’re likely content with Boyd, Shota, Taillon, Horton, Rae and perhaps Gallen/Steele and they’ll find their replacements next winter.
  24. Does the expected fart represent no Imai and does the tiny voice in your head fearful that you’ll soil yourself represent the Cubs signing Imai, catching you by surprise?
