He’s like any Astro reliever we’ve traded for. He’s another Edward Cabrera. Great on paper, He has the stuff, the ‘pitching lab’ to fix him and an outstanding defense behind him and just hasn’t worked out yet.

I wish there was way to crunch in leverage stats into war. He could just as easily stat pad his way into his 128 game slash line in blowout wins while the Cubs have 3 or 4 fewer wins. That’s not at all the case. Cubs teams of the past would have the same exact run differential with 5 fewer wins. Bottom row is PCA, top row is Kris Bryant in 2016.

They really can’t hit on getaway days. If they’re serious about catching the Brewers then a 7-5 stretch against a relatively soft schedule isn’t going to get it done.

I wonder if the lack of rest is draining him a bit. He’s been remarkably consistent all season outside of his April slump, the complete opposite of Happ. I wonder if there’s more value in that by raising your offensive floor through an entire season as only a 115<> guy this year.

Perhaps. Would you prefer this version of Busch as a more well rounded splits guy over what they had last year with Busch and Turner, if his drop in slug is a result of changing his swing path? PCAs jump from a 59 wRC+ to a 168 versus lefties is unfathomable.

Kind of funny how Busch and PCA hit first inning bombs against a lefty when a year ago Turner would be batting 4th and PCA would be batting 6th or 7th.

Yeah. It’s not like he’s having these types of games in 5+ win blowouts either where the Cubs are winning by 12+ runs while losing on the margins. He has directly contributed to a number of wins ending in 9th and extra inning walk offs.
