    Busch has tied Turners season total for XBHs in his last 3 at bats, all vs left handed pitchers.

    Only a few hours I think. We’re in the noticing stages now. It’s no longer a secret until at least August I think. That’s on me for me putting it in the wrong order.

    I’d have to look this up but good bet Michael Busch and PCA are at least top 5 in wRC+ on Apple TV broadcasts in 2025.

    The optics of sitting Busch after hitting 3 home runs including 1 vs a lefty finally pushed Counsell to try this novel idea of putting Busch in the lineup vs lefty in place of a guy whose signature Cub moment was wearing fake balls.

    Let’s all hope they put a crooked number kn the board today to shut the people who notice these things up.

    He provided a sample size. 91 wRC+ since May 1st. That’s 2 months right there. The fact that people are realizing Turner needs to be replaced in the lineup is a symptom of this. It’s a an observation that may or not be a minor speed bump.

    Obviously they’re better than this 10 runs in 50 innings stretch but PCA struggles a bit vs lefties and Busch, our 920 OPS first baseman isn’t even allowed in the lineup until today so regression is predictable. but we’re not allowed to make these basic observations until the sample size reaches 3 months like with Turner? Is that the rule?

    As soon as they add a platoon bat to replace Turner I’ll assume it’s just a bad stretch. But when 3/4 top sluggers are left handed bats obviously they won’t be as potent vs lefties, which isn’t necessarily cubs specific to be fair.

    Are we still pretending they haven’t been awful vs lefties for the last month +? 10 runs in the last 50.2 innings vs left handed starters.

    It’s not a secret that Left handed pitchers are the cubs kryptonite. With that said it’s encouraging when Ian Happ is 7th in team wRC+ and I’m counting all 3 catchers as a single player. add another pitcher quickly. With Taillon down we’re back to 2 reliable starters again unless Wicks can ascend as that quality number 4 starter he projected as.

    It’s important to let out $6 million glorified bench coach with his signature Cubs moment wearing fake nuts those ABs vs lefties and bench our 920 OPS 1st baseman for reasons that only Counsel knows. At least those fake nuts only cost $6 million instead of $184 million for an alleged speech in the World Series that might never have been needed if he had more than 5 hits in the 2016 postseason.

    I hope the Cardinals offense that showed up vs Pittsburgh is the one we see and not the that hit 5+ homers vs Taillon and Brown with the wind blowing out with Rae on the bump.

    It’d be nice if Wicks stayed healthy and could develop into that number 3-4 starter they drafted him profiling his high floor low ceiling. Does he still have any trade value? Keegan Thompson all but disappeared.

    He’s just an example. He has some experience, you may or not be comfortable with it but where do you go from here? Is there another platform bat on the market? How many versatile corner infielders who can hit are available? Jake Burger is an example I like using as he’d cost you less and has solid platoon splits. A lot of the in house options are left handed bats. If Jonathon Long is the guy I’m not sure how many more reps he needs. like the rangers in 2023 I like the idea of outscoring teams with an elite defense, a bullpen that hopefully keeps producing at a high level and another MOR starter to at least insure quality starts. Cubs are a slugging platoon bat away from more consistently.

    Bregman being the starting third baseman for 3 months shouldn’t be a problem. He’ll play first vs lefties and Shaw will play third. If you want to complete the lineup he’s the guy as far as available bats. But really anyone will suffice if we’re talking strictly a platoon bat. during a playoff series against these pitchers there’l be a lol of cap tipping on your way to the offseason losing a best of series.
