  1. 6 4 2 1 2 4 are the bare minimum amount of runs needed for to win all 6 games. Let this sink in
  2. Hold the Brewers to 5 GD runs and lose 2/3. Hold the D backs and brewers to 14 runs and lose 4 of 6. what’s the record for most losses games a team’s allowed 3 or fewer runs because the cubs have to be on pace to break it. It’s sickening.
  3. Don’t forget the not scoring thing either. Can’t tell the story of the 2024 Cubs without it.
  4. They were due to a score A run. That’s all they needed plus 1 more. Good work Shotah and the pen. Hopefully Dansby heats up and bats his way into the 5 hole in front of Tauchman and 200 hitting Morel.
  5. The lineup is better suited with Mr. $177 million batting behind Tauchman and Morel.
  6. Not terribly surprising a 200 hitter and a career journeyman couldn’t bring in the game winning run. That’s not even the bottom of the order. Lol
  7. The bullpen is $ when the Cubs are trailing and scoring a single run for a come from behind win is insurmountable.
  8. We got dealt a bad hand with Johnson Schilling and Brandon Webb.
  9. Other than Happ and Seiya hitting around their career averages and a promising season from Busch this team is full of misplaced hype. Dansby has 2 seasons with a 4+ WAR, Bellinger had an outlier 2023 sandwiched between 3 terrible seasons in LA and even Nico performing at his yearly averages they simply overachieved last season including their pythag win loss %. Bullpen still stinks and wasn’t improved in the offseason….
  10. This is a typical Cub performance vs an NL wild card contender skating around 500. If they played slumping first place AL teams and the Rockies they’d be watchable.
  11. This team would miss the playoffs with 5 prime Randy Johnsons if they hypothetically couldn’t pitch past the 7th inning.
  12. The Cubs team identity is scoring 3 runs or less. It seems like ages ago the bullpen blowing 2 run leads in the 8th inning was the pressing issue holding them back.
  13. Why spend $237 million when you can assemble a last place team for less than half of that?
  14. If the cubs faced slumping first place American League teams and the Rockies every game we’d be in decent shape.
  15. WAR doesn’t calculate situational hitting. The chances of stranding an infinite amount of runners plummets with Him in the 3 hole. Think 2nd and third 0 outs last night with Happ and Suzuki striking out. A consistent run producer drives in those runs 6th hole hitters like Suzuki and Happ fail at.
  16. Yes. The Cubs crappy team is the punchline here. Hopefully the Guardians are on losing streak when we play them too so we can finish 9-0 vs first place teams in the AL and finish with 70 wins.
  17. It’s unacceptable no doubt but that’s the only reasoning that comes to mind other than Jed being bad at his job. Corey Seager in place of Suzuki and Dansby come to mind.
  18. All I can think of is less long term commitment. In a perfect world Jed is doing the Theo thing waiting for the prospects to be ready and then sign quality players when the championship window opens while aspiring to win 86 games best case scenario to keep the fans happy. There’s the Dansby Swanson overpay which is incongruent with that plan however. Thats the only way this makes sense.
  19. I like it. A VHPP who can provide the same WAR as Swanson Happ Suzuki and Bellinger for 40% of their $94 million combined AAV. Like Juan Soto. Might be too late though since they’re all on the books next season.
  20. Remember Happs hot streak before the all star break? What we need is a guy who can do that consistently from April-September. I think “star” is the term they use for said player.
  21. Cubs have problems vs NL wild card contenders teams <=> 5 games within 500. 20-34 vs Pitt Cincy Stl SF SD AZ NYM ATL across the board. Subtract the teams they need to beat they’re a solid 27-19.
