Favorable pitching matchup, sort of depending on Shotas velocity.. Going into the break in first place with a series win vs a playoff contender for the first time since taking 2/3 from a struggling brewers team in may would make for a nice 4 days. The other thing on the line is that run differential, only a 2 run edge over the Yankees for the MLB lead. Get it done.

To be fair, Keller’s struggled lately and Hodge just hasn’t been the same guy since coming off the IL. Other than that there’s still more quality arms to choose from. The quantity of 4+ run wins and losses have given the high leverage guys needed rest with 32.6% this season vs 26.5% of games last season.

The timing of my post makes it seem like I was upset about pitching to him in that specific at bat. I was speaking in general terms. He’s arguably as good as early 2000’s Bonds, has mediocre lineup protection and has all these opportunities to hit pitches in the zone.

Kelly doesn’t press nearly as much with RISP, CC is probably going back to what worked, albeit that’s when Kelly was mashing 2 months ago.

It is. With a 3.3 ERA going into yesterday’s game you’d think 2-3 runs in 6 innings would be a reasonable expectation with this offense. He allowed 11 runs in his last 22 innings as well. Hopefully Boyd can keep them in the game today.
