  1. How long did it take you to dig that up?
  2. That’s what happens when 3 of your top sluggers in the first half are swapped with a pair of replacement level hitters and Kyle Tucker playing at 80% and missing games in the second half. This isn’t a playoff team, it’s a 500 team that inherited a 59-39 team in the first half. The reinforcements of Taillon and Horton have kept them afloat with their 3.75 runs/game average over their last 48 at 25-23 with a .an openings win % .481.
  3. It’s such a common score and I’m drawing a complete blank on this.
  4. When was the last time the bears won a game by a 31-14 score?
  5. There’s probably 50 final scores I’d predict before picking a 31-14 Bears win today.. Way to Wash off that Cubs stink.
  6. They’ve used picks 9, 10 and 39 on pass catchers in consecutive drafts. There’s zero reason to keep DJ around if you can get a 2 for him.
  7. DJ has no catches either. Lol
  8. Extremely slow. They had plenty of opportunities to draft a higher quality back than Monangai in the mid rounds but traded down 50 times.
  9. Zaccheaus and DJ have more carries than Monangai. He must look terrible in practice.
  10. Who wins more games next month, Bears or Cubs?
  11. They really want to go back to Sandiego. It’s an awesome city, I don’t blame them.
  12. Finally some explosive plays by the offense and Caleb. Even if it’s against Dallas’s ****** defense.
  13. We can only theorize why the cubs keep losing these simulations but I’d bet the pitching staffs susceptibility to giving up the long ball, including our primary guys on the playoff roster doesn’t matchup well vs the power hitting lineups like the dodgers and Phillies. Lowest pitching war of any playoff team and no true number 1 starter is my guess. Defensive war can’t prevent home runs. Maybe other reasons I’ve outlined or maybe nothing I’ve typed.
  14. Let’s hope it’s us. Fangraphs too, so I can use Nico’s bWAR to prove he’s better than Soto in an argument if the Cubs discredit them and their 3.4% World Series winning odds.
  15. That’s all true. I can point to the Cubs SOS over the last month to explain their solid record, and of course you can point to other teams losing series to bad teams and that’s a valid point. My issue here is the back of the players cards. The lack of star power gives me uncertainty over whether or not Suzuki and PCA will ever regain their pre all star break form or at least tread water like Busch, the status of Tucker and of course Boyd’s peripherals catching up to him. You could say this about the Brewers too, but in regards to some of the other teams there’s less question marks surrounding what their core players are capable of playing their best baseball. The great defense won’t prevent home runs which has been a huge issue for the pitching staff. Suzuki has to do a 180 quickly and we’ll need a healthy Tucker to get hot, which again is an unknown.
  16. Yes. Last years defensive line was bad but still had 40 sacks because the secondary was able to hold up long enough to give the d line time to get the quarterback. You can kiss that goodbye without Smith, Joshnon and Gordon who’s questionable every week.
  17. By the time they start clicking on offense, it still won’t equal wins without Jaylon Johnson and the other secondary injuries, and a defensive unit void of young talent thanks to awful drafting and talent evaluation from Ryan Poles. He blew up the roster, couldn’t replenish any lost talent with draft picks and they’re similar to an expansion roster, with one of the most expensive defenses because they’re forced to sign mid level starters on veteran deals because Austin Booker and Reuben Hippolite are the alternatives. It’s such a mess that’ll take years to fix and hopefully a new GM unless Ben has full roster autonomy and superior talent evaluation.
  18. It’d be a bad look to lose home field advantage though. With Suzuki and PCA crawling since the all star break and the Kyle Tucker question, I’m not sure how they’ll pull off a deep playoff run. The issue is the teams ceiling at the moment, It’s a tail of 2 halves with this team and the second half iteration just leaves a lot to be desired. Streakiness and getting hot comes in handy In the playoffs.
  19. These guys aren’t the Braves, Pirates, Angels or Rockies, they’re mediocre like the Giants and outclassing the Cubs as a result.
  20. I hate the horsefeathers Reds. Mets will sweep the Cubs too and destroy their playoff hopes, Good riddance.
  21. The rule states that in a calendar week, no more than 2 games of 5+ runs and a mandated less than 5 runs/game average. Rule has been in effect since July 28th.
  22. Is you wanted an elite bat with average defense you’d end up with Trea Turner for $300 million for 11 years. Swanson’s making nowhere near superstar money relative to the market. He was the fourth highest paid middle infielder from his free agent class by $250 million combined.
  23. After scoring 8 on Wednesday, naturally they’re shutout on Thursday and score 4 runs tonight to maintain that almost on the dot 4 runs/game average since the all star break.
  24. They’re number 1 in OPS+ yet not even top 5 wRC+. Fangraphs and baseball reference have conflicting data.
