Its been a while now that the Mariners have been expected to trade one of their pitchers for a bat. I have no idea where the thought of them trading Gilbert came from, though. I suppose its because he's their #3 pitcher right now and if they signed a guy like Snell he would become their #4. But, the guy is a 3 WAR pre-arb pitcher, even if he were available the cost is probably so far above any bat the Cubs can offer that its not feasible a trade happens. Meanwhile, they have 3 other pitchers that would be fighting for 1 rotation spot in Miller, Woo, and Hancock. Miller or Woo seem to be the more likely to be traded because either one of them carries enough value to get a decent bat and then Hancock becomes injury depth.
