  1. Wonder how the Cubs will hit against an actual good SP if they can't hit the mediocre ones.
  2. Not sure Jed would bother trading a guy with the Cubs history and loyalty of Hendricks for some mediocre prospect. Maybe they'd ask Hendricks if he'd prefer to stay or potentially play for a contender the rest of the year.
  3. It's the pitchers getting hurt. Are they teaching them all screwballs or something? Position regulars are all healthy but Tauchman and they still suck.
  4. It's hard for me to see Nico traded at this point. Next year I could see it with Shaw and/or Triantos potentially knocking on the door. Maybe Nico is moved not this offseason but next. Taillon and Happ could potentially be traded. Ideally they'd hold on to Happ until Caissie or other corner OF are a bit closer, but Bellinger can always play a corner if PCA & him stick next year. IMO there's some potential for an overreaction in dealing guys just to deal them. I'm more worried about improving 3B and catcher for next year. We're still in the early stages of this rebuild. With the prospects and players we have I think the state of the infield and OF look somewhat promising. Catcher is unknown because we don't know how the Cubs see Bellosteros' catching defense. We still need more HR power from somewhere.
  5. Brock can you post your source? Unless I missed something else, I don't see any reports of trade talks about Nico with Seattle by Morosi in the video Morosi talks about it on MLB network. He's simply speculating on players who could possibly be moved by the Cubs and potential destinations.
  6. We don't know what happens in the clubhouse. I'd be surprised if he's the only player to lose his cool. I've seen visible frustration from several players over this stretch on the field, most often at themselves. Swanson, Happ, Bellinger, Gomes etc. Seiya is always hard on himself. Pen guys as always when things go bad.
  7. It took Heyward more than 4 seasons as a Cub to put up the same WAR that Dansby has in a year and half.
  8. I think at least offensively we were a bit lucky last year especially during the summer and this season we've been unlucky. Offensively I think we're somewhere in the middle.
  9. Accurate description of the last 60 games.
  10. Neris seems like a guy who would rather be spread out on the couch eating donuts.
  11. Holy crap, i didn't see this during the game. Who was he yelling at? I get the frustration. Brutal 3rd inning. And imagine being one of the best pitchers in baseball and being 0-3 halfway through the season because the rest of your team is f**king everything up almost every time you pitch. I also saw Taillon shaking his head on the mound yesterday right after PCA ran into Happ while Happ was trying to play the ball bouncing off the wall. These guys are starting to lose it.
  12. Do you not know who Christopher Morel is?
  13. He's not slow. I think he doesn't hustle unless absolutely needed in order to conserve energy for the 162. He also runs like a girl when he does run hard, which I find strange and humorous. I've never in my life seen a pro ballplayer run like he does.
  14. That was after Morel whiffed on the hit ball that got that runner on-base in the first place. And before the immaculate pop-fly fell in between 3 of the best fielders in the MLB and before Steele misplayed an easy soft tapper. That might have been the worst inning of Cubs baseball i've seen since the Bartman inning.
  15. Make him closer so he can eventually blow one and we can watch him fly off the handle again. At least that would be entertaining.
  16. To be fair, since magical May 1st the Cubs lead the MLB in baserunning runs above average according to FanGraphs. Might have to do with team speed than decisions though.
  17. I think PCA should be calling most everyone off on flyballs he can get under comfortably because of his arm. However, on that play Happ got there first so it's not like he isn't going to play the ball. PCA needs to learn when to dial down the aggression.
  18. PCA hitting 22 wRC+ in June with a 37.5 k% and 4.7 BB%. 10 SBs. Amaya = 38 wRC+. Michael Busch leads the MLB in BABIP.
  19. Due for some Belli bombs. Remember those?
  20. What about since May 1? Either way, we can say that since May 1 they've been terrible at knocking in runs, and the bottom of the order has been almost useless.
  21. The Cubs strand hitters like mad and suck with RISP especially 2 outs. PCA was up next and he's horrible. I'll defend Counsell and Willie on most aggressive sends right now given how this team is hitting. Better to try to score than watch PCA strikeout I think. Giants made a perfect throw to home, Cubs took a calculated risk.
  22. Nice to see all of our useful relievers and all of our young starters injured, including Horton.
  23. Given our strong SP, weak hitting, and terrible bullpen that can't hold leads, this team should continue to play in a lot of close games and make a run at the all-time blown saves record. This man will be a part of that journey.
