  1. Cubs pitchers are 2nd worst in MLB in walks allowed. Have played 2 extra games though. Walk rate not as bad.
  2. 2 of 3 and almost a sweep against a hot team with a tough lineup and pen is still pretty good.
  3. Surprised Rea didn't make an appearance today. Is he dead?
  4. This is very cool of you guys to do this, thanks @Brock Beauchamp and team.
  5. Shaw has flashed 91st percentile sprint speed per Savant. Didn't know he was that fast!
  6. Today Boog said the Cubs in April have the hardest month schedule any team will have in any month this season (based on 2024 records), and in May will have the easiest month any team will have this season. If we can get through April in decent shape that'll be huge! We're off to a great start.
  7. Let's see. Hodge, Pressly, Merryweather, Keller all have potential to have good years, plus maybe Brasier and more. They might be fine if they're healthy.
  8. Looked like it hit his left shoulder i think. Was hit hard but didn't hit him 100% flush and absorb all impact since the redirection got all the way to Nico. Hope he's ok.
  9. Boyd obviously looks great. His FB is also up 1.3 mph from last year. And solid slider and change-up, so has weapons vs RHB and LHB. Kelly and the bottom half of the order doing it today. Congrats to Happer on game #1000 and the great catch. Everything you want in a player who isn't a superstar.
  10. Pressly sulked and helped run himself out of town when the Astros made the team better by signing Hader who they had pitch the 9th. Guess he cares more about his ego and potential pocketbook than winning. Babysitting egos should not be a part of a managers job.
  11. 1. The A's pitching sucked last year (4.50 xFIP) and looked bad in the series, and their defense was unsteady too and the sun didn't help. 2. One of his hits on Wed he was fooled on an offspeed pitch and well out in front and dropped it into shallow LF. Yes he was lucky the hit dropped in and no he didn't look comfortable. 3. It's possible he's the best guy to play at 3B right now for us, hard to say, but having a rookie start his MLB career after a shorter ST than the vast majority of MLB players due to injury and hitting very poorly in that stint is not exactly giving him the optimal chance for success out the gate. He's hitting .189 and looks the part.
  12. I think he's fine, but you can't demote closers anyways it hurts their feewings.
  13. If he pitches in the 8th or the 9th does it really matter?
  14. So is PCA going to act like a toddler and throw his helmet and/or bat every single time he strikes out or gets thrown out on a close play at 1B?
  15. PCA is 2nd on the team in avg bat speed, barely behind Seiya. Significant increase over last year so far. Dustin Kelly speculated it could be the longer bat he's using. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/bat-tracking?gameType=Regular&minSwings=q&minGroupSwings=1&seasonStart=2025&seasonEnd=2025&team=112&type=batter&sortColumn=avg_sweetspot_speed_mph_qualified&sortDirection=desc
  16. Counsell and David Ross are infinitely better managers than Baker or Maddon. Being liked by players isn't enough.
  17. Against the A's and one of those hits yesterday was weakly hit and lucky to fall in. He also had an error yesterday, 3 on the season. Problem is the other options aren't exactly great. I just don't think he looks comfortable at all.
  18. Some of them looked a bit tired and out of sorts. Lack of the usual bounce in their step and alertness.
  19. Morgan looked like arse in the 9th yesterday. He's officially the mop-up guy for now.
  20. I feel like Shaw could use a few weeks in Iowa to get going after the short spring. He looks like he's pressing a bit and doesn't look comfortable at the plate or fielding. I'd be ok trying Workman/Berti for a bit.
  21. I thought a lot of guys on both teams looked flat with the day game after a night game. PCA included. He needs to stop chasing so much. He's not nearly a good enough hitter to be worth swinging at so many balls. He also needs to stop wrapping his hand with the base running mitt as he's taking his lead.
