  1. They can keep being a really good hitting team but there's no way the Cubs offense can keep up the pace they've been on all year. Bound to regress to the mean a bit.
  2. That could be it, but in Turner's defense he isn't playing everyday and it's hard to hit like that. I think Counsell wants to keep guys sharp and get the bench some playing time, but there's downsides to that too if they just haven't been good.
  3. He definitely has a lot of lift in his swing. Guys like Kelly, PCA, Tucker prove you don't need crazy power to hit HR, just the right launch angle.
  4. Good lineup change. Amaya can hit 4th as well. Dansby at 8th behind PCA will give PCA lots of pitches swung and missed to steal 2nd LOL.
  5. Best defensive infielder in baseball, been better than Turner and Bogaerts at significantly less cost. Shifts a 4 WAR gold glove type SS to 2B. Good guy and leader, plays every day and a competitor. Winning all around.
  6. Lefty Byron Buxton (hopefully more healthy)?
  7. Good news is Phillies are 1 of 3 teams with a worse bullpen ERA than the Cubs. Cubs = 5.17 ERA, Phils = 5.56
  8. This day will live in infamy. Current MLB leaders in WAR:
  9. If it's legal it's bush-league. That's something that could get a fielder a ball in the booty next time he's at the plate.
  10. IMO Alex needs to be demoted to Iowa permanently. He's the only guy I switch on The Score for. I agree he sounds forced and trying too hard. He just needs to be himself. He and JD don't feed off each other at all.
  11. They should be very conservative with him on IP and pitch counts. He only pitched 34 ip last year and his body couldn't handle it.
  12. Replacement players FTW
  13. BOOOOO
  14. Doesn't make sense to keep rookies rotting on the bench, especially good ones. At least Lopez has a real chance to have a WAR above zero and can provide defense when needed. I'd like to see Workman kept and sent down.
  15. I hope Horton has the arm health to remain a starter. Fingers crossed.
  16. I don't think Alcantara should come up unless he's starting.
  17. This month has been a big success so far given the schedule. I was hoping they played .500 this month
  18. Have to bring somebody up if Workman is sent somewhere. Not sure who it would be.
  19. Heyman reports that Cubs will try to extend Tucker before he hits FA. I predict they give a half-effort and fail: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/cubs-expected-to-try-to-extend-kyle-tucker-before-he-hits-free-agency-after-2025-season-per-report/
  20. PCA was 11th in fWAR in the MLB before tonight's game. Gotta think he enters the top 10 when the stats update in the morning.
  21. In small defense of Workman, it's tough being a rookie and only playing once every 2 weeks.
  22. Good it needs to be said. Workman needs to go to Iowa to work out his fielding issues, or be returned to the Tigers. Problem is Shaw is in Iowa at 3B. Maybe they trade for him and he goes back to AA or the Tigers. He has no value on our MLB roster right now. They either need to just go with Berti at 3B and call up Cowles or someone, or get creative. They also have a significant issue with this bullpen because its trash. Going with random pen arms means you get random results until June when we finally figure out who's effective or not. No excuse not to have signed Yates or Scott or Robertson etc. What a joke of an org.
  23. This is crazy but when i played I wore a helmet that fit me and it rarely if ever came off, like most MLB players.
