  1. Shaw looks much better so far, he's attacking and driving the ball like we've seen in his minor league highlights. Let's hope he stays and has a solid season. What kinda sucks is Bregman has 2.4 WAR. We'd be up like 3 wins (in theory) if we landed him.
  2. Agreed. If he stays up he's just a bench bat. He needs to develop his catching in Iowa. What kinda sucks is we don't have any good LHB on the bench. But we also don't have any starting players now who are obvious candidates to pinch hit for a LHB.
  3. Thing is Tucker got to the ball because he seemed to slow up on it, but he just whiffed. Not a routine catch but he needed to have that if he got to it like he did.
  4. Counsell reads this forum. Happ is back tonight and Tucker is in the DH slot likely to get him off his feet, with Seiya in RF.
  5. I guess I missed the news that Hodge is headed to the IL with an oblique issue
  6. Maybe he needs a day off when Happ gets back. Maybe a few of these guys do
  7. What's a "save"? Who are these "closers" you speak of? Looks like Chapman has gained a tick back on his velo too.
  8. Tucker needed to catch that. Hard to blame Palencia, he's been lights out and everyone is going to give up some runs once in a while. The expectation can't be perfection. Main thing is Brown can't give up 6 ER in less than 5 IP. The pen gave up 2 ER in 4 IP, which is better than what Brown did. With this mediocre pen Counsell probably has a slow hook trying to get some length out of his SP. But maybe when Brown started getting knocked around late it's a spot where someone like Flexen needs to come in and throw a couple of innings. But then again I have no idea who's available.
  9. Shaw, Ballesteros, PCA, Amaya, and Busch in the starting lineup. Ben Brown is today's SP. Hodge is probably the closer. The future is here.
  10. At this point a 1 WAR contribution would be better than what anyone else can do, so I'd take it
  11. There's just no advantage for the Orioles to bow out in May rather than waiting another month or 2.
  12. Much to early for the Orioles to consider themselves sellers.
  13. PCA had 2.7 fWAR last season. He's already surpassed that this season and its mid-May (and that was before today's game). On pace for 9.5 WAR. There's basically nothing he can't do on a diamond besides take a walk.
  14. Horton had some good fastball command today. And no walks again. Was bouncing the slider in the dirt a lot, hopefully he gets more chase by locating it better out of the zone. Not going to get those swings like in the minors. Still just the 2nd MLB game and still early in the year for a guy who hasn't thrown much in the minors. Lots of opportunity for improvement and tweaking.
  15. Maybe he could be effective as a reliever. Understandable if he starts for Iowa though.
  16. Yeah, nice to see him hitting the ball hard and driving some out.
  17. It was weird watching the Mets series and seeing them trot out relievers that actually looked like athletes. Hodge counts though.
  18. SS/2B defense has been a bit rough/sloppy the last 2-3 weeks.
