  1. This month has been a big success so far given the schedule. I was hoping they played .500 this month
  2. Have to bring somebody up if Workman is sent somewhere. Not sure who it would be.
  3. Heyman reports that Cubs will try to extend Tucker before he hits FA. I predict they give a half-effort and fail: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/cubs-expected-to-try-to-extend-kyle-tucker-before-he-hits-free-agency-after-2025-season-per-report/
  4. PCA was 11th in fWAR in the MLB before tonight's game. Gotta think he enters the top 10 when the stats update in the morning.
  5. In small defense of Workman, it's tough being a rookie and only playing once every 2 weeks.
  6. Good it needs to be said. Workman needs to go to Iowa to work out his fielding issues, or be returned to the Tigers. Problem is Shaw is in Iowa at 3B. Maybe they trade for him and he goes back to AA or the Tigers. He has no value on our MLB roster right now. They either need to just go with Berti at 3B and call up Cowles or someone, or get creative. They also have a significant issue with this bullpen because its trash. Going with random pen arms means you get random results until June when we finally figure out who's effective or not. No excuse not to have signed Yates or Scott or Robertson etc. What a joke of an org.
  7. This is crazy but when i played I wore a helmet that fit me and it rarely if ever came off, like most MLB players.
  8. Kilian resigned to minor league deal.
  9. Tyson Miller, Tom Cosgrove, and Assad are all off to great starts in Iowa.
  10. Looks like his K/9 has always been excellent. Walks are the issue including this year.
  11. Jed and Counsell just told Luke Little and Wicks that they suck. I approve of this acquisition. Hopefully he can avoid the walks.
  12. Wicks has 1 good pitch plus a bunch of arse. If he wants to succeed he'll have to command the fastball like a boss, Taillon-style.
  13. He's been complete trash vs non-fastballs. Which is normal but more extreme so far.
  14. Our pitching still sucks but Rea has been good. Palencia was painting 100mph today. Surprised to see that command from him.
  15. I think they maybe mean the same thing?
  16. I remember when Bo Jackson (i believe a degenerative hip) got a hip replacement around when he played for the W.Sox. The back is much more complex though. Sucks to hear this. Yeah sounds like he's close to done. Better to walk with less pain the rest of your life than to have more millions i'd wager. But yeah he probably just stays on the IL through his contract if it's really bad.
  17. Americans are free to vote for Marxists or Bernie Sanders or Libertarians or whomever they want for whatever economic or political system they want. Again crying helpless victim you are. The politics forum on this site isn't this one so why do you keep bringing political economics into every single discussion? Now excuse me I'm off to enjoy my free healthcare and stringent gun control laws and then sit down to watch my recording of today's Cubs game. Go Cubs!
  18. Luigi I'd be upset if they mistreated PCA in any way whatsoever. But making PCA out to be some kind of victim and Hoyer et al to being "draconian" for putting out a rumoured lowish contract offer is just ricidulous and cringe. The Cubs don't operate a charity, so get over it or contact your local Congressman if you don't like the rules of your society. And yes, your real beef is with the voting habits of your fellow citizens, of which i'm not a member. Hoyer is just trying to win as many ballgames as he can under the payroll constraints of his cheapo owner so us Cubs fan can be happy with our product. Aka he's just doing his job.
  19. Michael Fulmer is available guys: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/04/red-sox-designate-michael-fulmer-for-assignment.html
  20. Because they actually value those kinds of relievers.
  21. There's literally nothing "draconian" about offering any MLB player any contract whatsoever. All contracts are signed voluntary by the player and they all have the right to say no if they want, like PCA did here. Cubs could have offered PCA an uber-cheap contract worth 20m over 8 years and who cares? He's a grown adult with an agent and can say no. It's just business, and both FO and player have every right to make contract decisions in each of their own best interests. PCA would never ever sign a 20m over 8 years extension but i would absolutely love it if he did because it means the team I follow is more likely to win more games over that span. The exact same reason why I'd love it if Ricketts would spend 500m on payroll every year. I literally couldn't care less what money Ricketts or any player takes home. The only thing I care about are my own interests as a fan/consumer, which is having a product (team) that's as good as possible and paying the least possible amount for it. Why anyone licks cleats and takes sides when millionaires and billionaires squabble over how they spend all the money we fork over to them is beyond me.
  22. Jed definitely hasn't been perfect, but in order to win you basically either need good prospects turning into good cheap MLB players (or trade for good MLB players) and/or enough payroll to buy good players in FA. Nico, Steele, and Morel isn't enough pre-arb players, and Cubs tax payrolls each year since 2021 have been ranked 15th, 12th, 10th, 9th, and now 12th in 2025. Even the best FO's would have a tough time sneaking into a wild card spot under those conditions IMO. I think if Jed had spent wiser on his 1-2 year type deals we could have maybe hit 86 wins the last 2 seasons instead of 83 wins, but it's hard to have seen a path to 90 wins unless the budget was expanded or they traded most of their good prospects they've acquired since Darvish.
  23. Cam Smith has been doing better (not trying to start a fight here LOL, just interesting to look at). Savant says he has some good peripherals in some key places. Very good raw power and chase (so far), surprisingly good sprint speed, whiffs are below average so far but not terrible. To compare sprint speed, PCA and Corbin Carroll have only been a touch faster at 29.4 ft/s this year so far.
