    Yes Tucker's swing speed has dropped about 1.5 mph since June 1, exactly. when he hurt his finger. May have affected the launch angle too as 1908 showed that graph which tracks the same timeline.

    Caissie looked really bad today on everything not a fastball. He looks like he's playing t-ball up there and looking for fastball over the heart of the plate to drive. That's not going to play.

    He says this NOW during the Brewers series? Everyone should have been rested up and ready to go for this series. How are they this stupid? Counsell isn't a fool, and yet here we are...

    With no runners on batters are hitting .808 OPS (.275 AVG) and with men on it's .631 OPS (.210 AVG). There's about a seasons' worth of PA's in each scenario, so could still be luck, or maybe's he's just better in the stretch? He's definitely a competitor though. We'd need more data i think, like batted ball data. RISP guys hitting .156 off him. Usually pitchers get worse with men on due to infield placement changes.

    9 runs in 3 games vs the Pirates. A nifty 3.00 ERA for the Bucs this series, maybe lower if some weren't earned (don't know, didn't watch). Power outage continues. Assad has looked good though in 2 starts.

    Caissie will whiff a ton, and have HR and doubles. Swing doesn't seem as geared for HR as a Schwarber, and not nearly as pull-heavy. I love Caissie's swing beyond the whiffs, he's not a Morel or Canario falling in love with the HR and pulling off everything. I'm interested to see his defense.

    It's just the bats that are in freefall. I guess it's nice the SP have been quality because they were a 1st half weakness. The thing is Boyd/Horton aren't set up to be strong in Sept/Oct, unless the Cubs want to risk injury. We need other SP to step up and also stay healthy. As long as we hit and pitch well in Oct that's what matters most.

    Hey the Cubs had more wins than the Brewers in 2020 the COVID year. Nobody were in the seats to see it but it probably still happened. If it didn't we have to go back to 2017 as the last time, so there is precedent. That's another way of saying that an 8 year old child has never seen the Cubs beat the Brewers any season in-person and will probably die before that changes. 🤣

    Whatever team they face have to shut down their running game, both SB and taking extra bases. Good thing for next week is Happ is epic at getting the ball in quick, definitely the best LF i've ever seen do it. We also have Boyd the pickoff master, and McGuire is very quick.

    Therein lies the problem. If a player is doing something incorrectly it's ok for a coach to tell them and help them correct it. If he's throwing home when he should throw to 2b he needs to be told and have it corrected and learn from it. Fans come to watch the Cubs win, it's not just "The PCA Show" out there. Why he hasn't learned basic baseball skills after several seasons in the minors is alarming. If a player is being told and not listening then at some point you have to bench the player. They need to be held accountable. He probably thinks the rules of thumb don't apply to him because he thinks he's so amazingly talented he's going to break the rules and do things normal players can't. Sometimes that's true but many times not. He needs to learn when to tap the breaks. A gazillion All-star and HOF caliber players winning World Series trophies for decades and he thinks he's better than them? C'mon Pete. He's not a savant like Javy was, his overzealous play hurts the team. Trying to make the big play every time because you see that 5-10% chance to make it isn't a smart decision most of the time.

    Maybe he rubs them the wrong way. Maybe they're a bit salty and frustrated because their team sucks? Maybe they did it 0-2 so they could get seat with it. We dont know. Losing an AB or a game doesn't matter when your season is lost.

    They hit PCA on the spot he injured the previous inning. Is this the most incredible coincidence ever? Do we give them the benefit of the doubt?

    Unfortunately we play the Brewers for 5 games ostartingMonday. The momentum for both teams going in is about the worst we could script. I hope we step up, but things could get ugly, a ton of pressure on the Cubs and not nearly aa much on the Brewers. There's no way a month ago any of us would believe we'd be. 9 games back. What a crazy month.
