  1. Anyone heard from KatiePerrysBootyHole?
  2. Preller is a fool. This Miller trade is ridiculous too.
  3. Gee hope the Cubs exercise his 9m option this winter so he can be our Pressly/Neris next season.
  4. With Boyd, Brown, and Horton possibly running on fumes by Sept/Oct, Jed would have to be crazy to not acquire another SP of some kind. Probably just a matter of what caliber an arm they get. If Jed balks at the price of the more quality SPs he can always grab another Soroka type for insurance.
  5. Alcantara might playing CF for the Cubs if PCA gets hurt unless they stick one of our corner guys there, especially with Brujan DFAd, so I can't really see him going anywhere, unless they acquire another CF.
  6. Soroka seems like a clear upgrade over Flexen if the velo comes back. Kittredge is an above-average RH reliever with veteran experience. He's also pretty nasty vs RHB with a really good slider that he uses as his primary pitch. Vs LHB he's not as good so will probably be used vs RHB. Not huge moves but are upgrades to the roster. Most expected both these kinds of moves, and possibly 1 more SP who is at least above-average. Wouldn't be surprised if they get another reliever and a bat for the bench or 3b.
  7. Ballesteros is a better pure hitter plus has had his feet wet already. In a short stint he probably has to make fewer adjustments than Caissie who has a long swing and is a K-machine. And it's not like Ballesteros isn't also hitting well in Iowa. Plus has lots of experience DH'ing
  8. Couldn't help but notice the Cubs pitching, hitting, and defense have all decided to sh*t the bed this series. Also, 1 for 12 with RISP last night.
  9. Tucker was out 3 months last year after a foul ball to his shin fractured it. Here's hoping Happ is OK
  10. Terrible game for Boyd to sh*t the bed. That Misi guy is a beast. Brewers just keep finding and developing good arms. Cubs need to do better on that.
  11. Sounds like so many of us grew up idolizing Ryno. I had his poster on my wall. L I remember the shock of his sudden retirement, and the excitement when he announced his comeback. RIP.
  12. Was thinking of something like this yesterday. Good for Jed. And good to do it before he feels desperate to trade prospects at the deadline just to save his job. I'm fairly happy with his performance. We can complain about the results on the field but if you look at all the moves he's made and not made (FAs he's avoided) he's done quite well IMO. And had he resigned Rizzo/Bryant/Baez this franchise would be toast. I don't think he's signed any bad contract 3 years or longer, in fact he's knocked most of them out of the park.
  13. Just looking at 2025, the Tucker trade has looked like a wash. WAR-wise it seems we've lost that trade, even when you factor Paredes getting a big bump playing at Minute Maid (or whatever it's called now). Bellinger's HR haven't seen a bump at Yankee Stadium vs Wrigley according to Savant. But when you factor the money we saved on Bellinger/Paredes vs Tucker/Shaw we were able to use to nab other players then the trade is more of a wash, just looking at 2025. However, when you factor Paredes is controlled for another 2 seasons and Cam Smith for another 5-6 and can seemingly play a solid corner OF i'd say we probably lost that trade. Bellinger is playing like he did in 2023 for us, plus could spell PCA in CF when he needs a day off, and hits LHP well so could platoon with Busch at 1B. Oops.
  14. I would interpret this as "nobody is untouchable", rather than "they're willing to dump the farm to upgrade". But honestly, nobody in the minors right now is particularly exciting enough to worry much about keeping if they can acquire some good players, especially controllable SP. We have lots of "good" prospects but that's it. Only one I might prefer to keep is Ballesteros if they believe he'll be able to play an adequate catcher, since it's so difficult to acquire a good catcher from outside the org.
  15. Does Berti end up with more ABs or innings pitched post-ASB by the end of the year?
  16. They're gonna keep playing him and hoping he breaks out of it
  17. I'm really tired of this cheap org wasting money on old post-prime players like Turner, Pressly, Berti, Hendricks, Mancini etc that predictably horsefeathers the bed on the Cubs' watch. Why to do they continue to waste millions on old players? Spend a little bit of money and get some real talent FFS.
  18. Brujan should never play unless as a pinch runner or a mid-game injury filler.
  19. I dunno if Jed is going to make a trade based on 1 game. Hoyer says trade prices drop dramatically in the last few days before deadline so things will probably go down to the wire.
  20. Yeah could be. If they acquire 2 SP, even one, I could see them sticking Horton down in AAA to give him a rest like Brown and save him for Sept/Oct. Hoyer doesn't spend much on relievers. If we get any reliever it will probably be someone average at best. Anyone better than that would be because the market fell out of some guy and they score a deal they couldn't pass up.
