  1. How expensive is a rental? Do we know? Kelly and Suarez for Brown and Long or Triantos? Too much? Not enough? I don’t think those two warrant losing Cassie, Wiggins, Ballestaros, Alcantara or Rojas. Maybe any two prospects after those?
  2. Not really a cold front. Game time temperature is 80. Wind not much of a factor for tonight.
  3. If it cost that much for two rentals I don’t think the cubs make that deal.
  4. I think until his last start Horton has been a much better rookie than Shaw. He pitched fairly well, IMO. Yes, he does still need some work but he wasn’t a liability in the rotation. Shaw, except for a few weeks, has been a liability in the line up. To me the biggest issue with Horton would be depending on him the rest of the year. His innings could become a problem.
  5. Love to get Suarez too. But can’t make Az trade right now and at what cost? What do you trade for 2 or 3 months if Suarez. He is a rental.
  6. Anyone off the Horton bandwagon was never in it from the start. Speaking for myself, I would like to see Wicks get.a few starts so the Cubs can limit Horton’s innings, not because I thjnk he is doing poorly. Plus, Cubs started two lefties against the Cardinals and they each threw a shutout, so why not start another? I think Bertz suggested the same thing and based on previous posts from him, I do not think he is jumping off Horton either. As for any other posts, several posters who are “jumping off” honestly, where never in.
  7. Nico hit 2 in 3 games. Enough said. I hate that park.
  8. I just don’t think Az is selling just yet. And after looking again, I really don’t want McMahon. I would rather go with Castro and at the very least he would be bench help. But probably start at 3rd a bit too.
  9. I get your point that Suarez should be someone they are after. But there are other upgrades with lesser guys. I would take McMahon if he came for a low level prospect. And he shouldn’t cost more than that. He is not great but still does have some pop in his bat. And he is also good defensively. I would also be okay with Castro of the twins. I am sure there are a few more. Yes, 100%, Suarez should be the reach guy they consider. But they can improve at 3rd with a lesser deal too. I do not see Hayes improving them.
  10. Thank you both for easing my concerns a bit. They are still my biggest fear, but if the Cubs do win in the low 90’s they should be fine.
  11. If that rookie pitcher is for real and a TOR starter they have the best 2 starters on either team. If Woodeuff comes back healthy he is also very good. Time to give them some credit. They are a good team. I am not saying the Cubs won’t beat them, but they are the biggest threat, imo. And they are good. Even if the Cubs add a starting pitcher he isn’t going to be at the level of Peralta.
  12. Aren’t the Cardinals weaker against left handed starters? I wouldn’t be shocked if he had a spot start in that series. Take a few starts through the rotation. Maybe Horton goes down for a bit. As you said, give Horton a little breather.
  13. He did strike Altuve out the previous 2 AB. Probably why he let him face him. I am sure he was his last batter, even if he got a single or a walk. He just happened to hit a homer on a fly ball that is an out in 29 of 30 parks.
  14. His contract shouldn’t hinder the Cubs from adding whoever they want. And he has played above his annual salary since coming to the Cubs. I just don’t understand the Swanson hate in this site.
  15. I think the Brewers are a problem. People want to discount them but they are good. I wouldn’t be shocked if the division came down to the very end.
  16. Exactly. It would be against Hader. Pretty sure Shaw comes into the game to play 3rd so that AB would be his. Not great either. But if he knew he was using 2 pinch hitters I would have gone Brujan then Busch. Brujan try to bunt.
  17. So I will ask again. If Candelario is healthy we don’t want him? He isn’t a better option than Brujan?
  18. If Brujan is going to pinch hit why not him come in to bunt and then Busch? Baffling.
  19. Yes you did. That is why I didn’t quote you. That said, he did handle Altuve all game. And let’s be honest, he hit a fly ball to left that is caught in 29 of 30 parks. And while being honest, had the Cubs brought in a pen arm to start the inning, and he gave up a run, don’t you think people would have said they should have left Jamo in? Again, not you. You said it before the inning.
  20. This sounds like a results bias statement. Jamo handled Altuve twice. He should be able to throw 105-110 pitches. Has he gone to the pen at 94 pitches and the pen game up a run I am sure people would have said why not leave Jamo in?
  21. And prior to his last 2 starts this year was doing very well. Which is why I said he was an ok #3 and a solid #4. In ‘24 he was actually a good #3. And prior to his last 2 starts he was trending that way again this year.
  22. Agreed. Jamo is a decent #3 starter. Not great, but ok. He is a solid #4. Rea is, at best a #5, swing starter. That said, this is a rough match up for him.
  23. Also, he has Cam stuck out but the umpire missed the call. He got him out twice
