    My bad. I thought you were referencing chibear. But he has Steele in the rotation. If Steele and Boyd are healthy I would do some sort of hybrid 6 man rotation. If there is a day off in the 6 game cycle, maybe skip a guy. Otherwise go 6 men. Be happy all are healthy.

    Boyd is out another 5 weeks, minimum. Why would Brown only be stretched to 80-85 by then? Why not fully stretched to throw 100 pitches if he needed to? I know you said “at least”. But do you mean fully stretched out?

    Well they are going to stretch him at least until Boyd comes back. If he is pitching well, IMO, he is way more valuable starting. And, technically that theory if don’t break what is working would qualify as a reason to keep him in the rotation. I cannot see a scenerio wheee Ben is pitching well every time out and the Cubs decide to take him out of the rotation. IMO that would be a terrible idea.

    I absolutely believe they want him to be a starting pitcher. When Boyd comes back Brown should be fully stretched and I would expect him to be a part of the rotation. Rea might go to the pen. If/when Steele comes back maybe they go to some sort of hybrid 6 man rotation.

    And honestly, except for the Cardinals, I think there is a solid chance of 4 teams being over .500. I think the Cardinals will fall. And when they do, they will fall hard.

    If Brown is a dude it makes me feel much better about making the post season and making noise in it Imanaga and Brown, if they continue with the success they are having, make a solid 1-2. You now have Boyd, Steele, Cabrera and probably someone they trade for to be the 3rd and 4th guy. And, break in case of an emergency, Tailon if all others falter. Brown also helps the look of the rotation next year. Maybe him, Steele, Cabrera take 3 spots. If they offer Boyd a QO maybe he takes it. Then there is still Rea, Assad, Wiggins and hopefully a big time FA pitcher (Peralta). And, who knows what happens with Shota? Maybe he comes back. And, of course, Horton (🤞eventually)

    I don’t think a 3 game series tell anyone anything. Braves seem to have a pen who is going great now. To me that is where they are better, for now.

    So if you like OPS how can you say Happ is having a bad year. His OPS is 825. That is very good.

    I someone doesn’t know much about hockey comparing him to someone else in hockey isn’t going to help him. ls he someone to play on the top line when Bedard? Will he be a regular next season? What should be expected of him? 20 or 30 goals? 50-60 points? Is he a top 2 line guy?

    So trade for Peralta at the TDL. There is the star. Cubs probably have the best 1-9 in baseball. Happ is a part of it. They need to upgrade pitching.

    Peanut, I didn’t think what you said was a trigger. I don’t necessary agree with you, but you didn’t cut Happ down. I just don’t see them upgrading offensively from him without severely weakening another part of the team. I found the comment that Happ hasn’t done anything to give the Cubs a reason to sign him as a trigger. He is a very polarizing player for some reason. And he aggravates me too, when playing bad. But facts are facts. He is a guy who post WAR over 3 every year and this year he is trending to be over 5. So suggesting he hasn’t given the Cubs a reason to sign him is blatantly false. If they choose to go cheap in left with a minor league bat they will be weaker at that position. And I just don’t see many left fielders who are better overall than Happ. So go cheaper there and spend on Peralta. I am fine with that. But know your production in left will be worse without Happ. Also, the reason people defend him so much is because so many posters undervalue him.

    OBP and slug are more important than BA. He is getting on at a very high level and slugging well. Sure I would like his strike outs to go down some. But if he keeps a 368 OBP and slugs over 450 that is a great season.

    That nice chibear. But this is a group forum. So when you say something someone disagrees with, whether is it in response to a different poster or not, another will respond. Since my response, you have continued to put numbers out to defend your belief Happ hasn’t done anything this year and has been bad. In a group forum people will agree and disagree with you even if your original point was just to one poster. Had you just said you would rather extend Seiya then Happ, maybe no one responds. Or maybe makes an argument of wanting Happ over Seiya. Personally, I wouldn’t have responded. That is a fair statement and a preference of yours. As I have said multiple times now, the only issue with your comment to PP was suggesting Happ isn’t very good. Which is now the point of the discussion. And a point you continue to defend using SSS.

    I have never argued signing Happ or letting Happ walk. That has never been my discussion. I only took issue with using a small sample size to make a determination Happ isn’t good. Cubs won’t sign both him or Seiya. They might not sign either. They may put money elsewhere. But that doesn’t mean Happ isn’t good. That is all my conversation was about.
