  1. And that was a check swing double down the left field line to open the season.
  2. Wish the lead was bigger with the pen we have available. Not very comfortable with who we have to pitch.
  3. Maybe pen availability? Last week they still had Palencia.
  4. Exactly. Wouldn’t surprise me if a corner spot is filled by either Shaw or someone in the system. Maybe they give an outfielders glove to Ramirez and tell him to go play left, if he was the best hitter of the group. Or Shaw to the outfield and Ramirez to Shaw’s spot. Between Shaw, Ramirez, Triantos, Long, Rojas and Alcantara I can see one starter and one utility guy next year.
  5. I thought Happ sucked? Isn’t that what everyone keeps saying? He needs to sit because of his bad start. How can he possibly be the WAR leader in left field and so many people are down on him?
  6. I really doubt Ramirez is blocked if he can hit. I just don’t think it is that hard to grab an outfield glove and go play left field. If he hits they will find a spot. Cam Smith and Shaw have moved to the outfield. Ramirez can follow if he hits.
  7. Split is fine, but with the Phillies down I would like 3 of 4. Trip to California is going to be rough. If they split these they have a real chance at a 4-6, 10 game stretch.
  8. Makes sense too. Phillies are bad against lefties. Might as well give them as many as you can.
  9. I thought the Cubs were activating Boyd for that game. Can’t announce him yet, since he isn’t even in the team.
  10. Of course it is a no win situation. But better to face a guy they can strike out than a guy who makes a lot of contract. I don’t think anyone is saying had they did something else it would have worked. Just, pitching to the best contact hitter in the team when they have their best baserunner on 3rd is probably the worst option they could have taken.
  11. I heard the highlight of the last inning and even Coomer said he was shocked the Mets were pitching to Nico. I agree, there are no real good options and there was a good chance the Cubs score no matter what the manager did. But pitching to Nico was thr worst decision of his bad options. I know that as a fan I was very happy when I found they weee pitching to him. Again, to be clear, I am not saying my decision would have saved the Mets. I get the Cubs weee cert likely to score. Put pitching to a guy who is very good with men on base and who makes contact better than almost anyone in baseball, just isn’t a good decision.
  12. I would have walked Busch too, or pitched around him. If I am the Mets manager I would much rather face Bregman with a force out in play then Nico. Remember, Kingery is after Bregman if they happen to get Bregman out.
  13. Explain it however you want, as a Cubs fan I would much rather see Hoerner up with a man in third then Bregman up with the bases loaded. Which is probably they way I would have done it had I been the Mets manager. Kimbrel may not given you many ground balls, but Bregman does but the ball on the ground. I just know I was very happy and surprised they pitched to Nico, regardless of if you think it was the right play.
  14. I don’t agree. I was saying as Nico came up they had to walk him. If he steals second let him go. Pitch to Busch. Maybe nibble. If you miss then bases loaded for Bregman. If I am the Mets manager I would rather face Bregman than Hoerner.
  15. How do we like Conforto now? How about the Cubs bench?
  16. One very good reason. The game they are playing is baseball. Baseball is stupid. No rhyme or reason to it. It just happens🤷
  17. My guess is Rea stays and Assad goes to the one.
  18. Doesn’t mean they can’t give him an 8 or 9 year deal and buy out a few FA years. Not saying they will do it, but they could. Teams do it all the time.
  19. If he gets a few more starts and does well is he someone they bring up and put in the rotation so that Rea can go back to the pen? I like Rea, so putting him in the pen isn’t because he can’t start. It is to make the pen better.
  20. Is Meyers an opener? Do the Cubs start Mo and run the risk of a lefty pitching most of the game? Maybe they should move Mo up to 2nd. At least they know he gets his first AB against a righty.
  21. Happ made a nice catch at the wall on a ball smoked to left. He gave up some solid contact, and was a bit wild. I think he is fine, but IMO, he didn’t throw great today. He did ok.
