  1. I don’t think any team did for an entire season. But teams did go to a 6 man rotation periodically during the year, last year. And then you have the Dodgers who just gave pitchers time off during the season. Maybe the Cubs wouldn’t go straight 6 man. Maybe they would skip a start by a pitcher. Maybe put a guy on the IL. Point is, if the Cubs did sign Gallen I don’t think they would trade Taillon. They would just have 6 starters. How they used them is anyone’s guess.
  2. Where are you seeing that figure for Gallen? I would be shocked if signs for that little. I don’t think they have any interest in Valdez. They seem to want a certain type of character on the team. Valdez purposely crossing the catcher up on a pitch is not the character the Cubs are looking for, IMO.
  3. Ok, cool. I must have read it wrong. I thought they comment trade him until after June 15th. Then if they got Gallen maybe Rea is traded.
  4. I agree about offering Hoerner 5 years. But using your argument, being he is younger, why wouldn’t he want 7 years. Also, what is crazy money to you. Is 5/$125M crazy?
  5. I think because they signed Rea they can’t trade him until June. I read that somewhere, but not sure if it is true. And I don’t think they will trade Taillon.
  6. Do you have stats to back up this claim that if they go to a 6 man staff guys won’t be sharp? I think guys do better with more rest, but I would say that as a statement of fact. Just curious if you do know guys pitch worse on longer rest, with stats to back it.
  7. Might be first 6 from the start. Pure 6 man rotation. Or if one of the starters is behind that would be who isn’t in the rotation. I like the idea. Keep everyone fresh through the year.
  8. That has been my thought for some time now. But Taillon is one of those character guys the Cubs love. I am not sure they trade him, even if they get Gallen. They might just limit their rotation with less innings and less starts.
  9. If he signed I would think he would be taking Austin’s spot on the bench. And if he signed they better add more too. Don’t want to go over for a bench bat. He is a solid right handed bat who can play 1st on occasion and DH against lefties.
  10. Generally I agree with this. But there are several other threads that have baseball talk. So if you don’t like this one don’t go into it. Read something else. I doubt anyone is going to this thread to see Nico updates. Pretty sure we covered that and most feel Nico isn’t going anywhere. So if you come here this is what you should expect. Don’t want to talk about it, move on.
  11. First of all everyone is free to love or hate whoever they want to. So you can judge your own tolerance. Next, just because players associate with Shaw or even have the same “Christian values” does not mean they follow a person who promotes division, racism, sexism and hate. I am sure there are players whose views are different than mine. But when you put yourself in the center of a group like Kirk’s you should expect there will be people speaking out against you.
  12. I don’t think that means exclusively. I think the comment is to mean the Cubs still are interested in Gallen. I am not sharing you are suggesting this either. Just trying to clear it up. I don’t think Cubs and Gallen are close. Just an option.
  13. It is one of the points. But it also allows them to limit innings for their rotation. But yes, can’t do one year. I would rather 3 and no opt outs. But he might want one.
  14. Has to be at least 2 years. You cant give up a pick plus IFA $ for a guy you lose in one year. Maybe a 3 year deal with an opt out after 2?
  15. I agree he is being used. And he is too dumb to realize it. He is in a cult. Period.
  16. I think a better point is, if you are going to go over, make it worth it to go over. I’m fine with that. Just don’t go over my $2M and drop 2 rounds on multiple picks. Also, since we are discussing picks for QO guys, would the Cubs offer Taillon a QO? I think he would take it. Happ, Nico and Seiya wouldn’t. If the Cubs add anyone I want Gallen. Go with a 6 man staff from the start. Work your staff like the Dodgers worked theirs. No one pitch a full season. Limit innings and have healthy pitchers for the playoffs. Then if you need a bat or another pen arm sometime during the year, you get it. You are over already so no worries about who younger putting you over the LT.
  17. He said the Bears either won or it came down to the last play. They won against Dallas, Cleveland, Philly, and the Saints. Baltimore is the only one that doesn’t quality in his scenerio. So they are the 1 of 17.
  18. WOW, you are really doubling down on nonsense. So now you are sad we have Bregman because that means we can’t sign Turner? Seriously you have to be a troll.
  19. I’ve been suggesting Gallen for some time. But I always assume they then trade Taillon. I actually like the idea of signing him and going 6 man until Steele comes back. If everyone is still healthy you then worry about trading one of them. TBH, if all are healthy they could use Horton in the pen a little to limit his innings. Or do a Dodger thing with the pitchers. Give them all time off during the season. Yep, for me, Gallen does make sense. I think the offense is fine.
  20. Kind of my thoughts too. Which is why I suggested adding a bench bat. But I also understand Jason’s point on that. So I am ok with them not adding a bat, period.
  21. So then replacing Mo in the line up. So Bellinger? Pretty sure they won’t be doing that. And I don’t want to trade for a right fielder. I think the fear of Suzuki in right is being overblown here. He isn’t Castellanos in right.
  22. So then you are suggesting they are set? That is pretty much my view too. But when people suggest they need another bat, I can only see Alcantara as the spot to upgrade. I don’t agree they need to add an everyday bat. This discussion is about the Cubs adding more. Which is the only reason I suggested a bench bat. I just don’t see them adding elsewhere. I would rather add a bench bat then replace Mo in the lineup. However, I am actually fine with them not doing anything for now.
  23. Who is this bat playing for? Mo? Otherwise there isn’t a spot for him. And I think Mo is going to be pretty good. Or are you looking for a bench bat? I agree they could get a right hand hitting outfielder for the bench and Alcantara could be sent down. Other than that, I don’t see the team a bat short.
  24. With the differences in compensation being what is it for teams under the LT and teams over, I agree with you that if they go over they need to go more than a few million over. So if they go over I hope they make it worth it. Maybe sign Bader and let Alcantara get a year in Iowa. Maybe add Kopech.
  25. Bregman? I mean who do you really expect them to get and who is a dangerous bat to you?
