  1. Not a question of what I prefer. Obviously with a 6 run lead, even against the Dodgers you have to like the Cubs chances. Just saying it sucks to have to tax the pen so much in this one. A game that if it didn’t rain the Cubs would have won easily and most likely had a fresh pen for the trip.
  2. Couldn’t help yourself. Has to throw one more comment. For the record I am glad they are going to play on. I am glad my weather app was wrong. But i am a bit concerned about 5 innings from the pen. Not so much them holding the lead. Just being used. Not a great way to start a west coast trip.
  3. I said it it rained long enough, the field would be tough to play on. That was based on a 6PM time I got for the rain stopping. You suggested it would be common sense to continue the game because the Cubs were winning by a large margin. I disagreed with that. I think the common sense that would be used would be based on players safely. Not the score of the game. Now, if they can get the field in playing shape, they will play. That is all that should go into the decision, IMO. Not the score. I am fine if you don’t agree. Just not fine with you coming at me if I don’t agree with you.
  4. I’m not doing this with you again. I don’t think it they go 4 to 5 hours of non stop rain it is common sense they should resume, even if a team has a 6 run lead. I think common sense would prevail based on players safety. But you do you.
  5. This is true. But how often does a team in the Midwest play a night game the night before going to the west coast? And really the biggest issue is going to be the playing field. I am sure the Dodgers are suggesting the field is not safe.
  6. I don’t think this is true. Unless they changed the rule the game starts over.
  7. Well you did suggest common sense when you said they should resume. Wouldn’t that commoon sense you are referring to also be used when considering what the field would look like after 4 to 5 hours of rain? Just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean you have to be a dick.
  8. Even sillier to risk injury to players because of a field that is soaked. I get your point in the score, but that is just a tough break for the Cubs.
  9. Why is it common sense to wait it out? Even if it doesn’t end at 5, that means it remained for 4 hours. Players getting injured on an extremely wet field has to be considered too. Sure, as a Cubs fan I hope they do finish it. But the decision will be made based on what is best for baseball, not just the Cubs. That field was a mess before they brought the tarp out.
  10. I am sure they can figure something out. But the fact is the Cubs are losing out on a game they probably had a 95% chance of winning if there wasn’t bad weather. And that sucks.
  11. Maybe they should all get on buses and head to central Illinois to finish the game.
  12. This is a fair statement and I agree with it. Let’s hope they do. I am just not optimistic they will.
  13. I think the best chance is the rain ends earlier. Closer to 4:30. Then they will come back. But what also sucks is thrnCubs then have to use the pen for 5 innings. Not a great way to head west.
  14. You say pessimistic and I say realistic. I don’t see them waiting 3 1/2 hours. If chibear is right and weather does clear at 4:30, sure that would work. But to just think they can play baseball afte 3 hours of rain in the outfield isn’t being realistic. Again, I hope chibear is right.
  15. How many games do you remember there being a 3 1/2 hr delay? I don’t remember any.
  16. If the losing team doesn’t bat 5 times nothing counts.
  17. I hope that’s the only thing that sucks about this delay. But you are right, no way Imanaga comes back. So now we need the pen to go 5 innings. Which hurts them starting the road trip. And that is best case scenario.
  18. What are you seeing that I am not? I hope you are right.
  19. You are way more optimistic than I am on this. I see a report the rain will be here until 6. Add 30-40 minutes to get the field ready and we are talking 6:30 to resume. They are not waiting 3 1/2 hours in a rain delay. Cubs will get screwed on this one. But that is what will happen.
  20. Not supposed to let up until 6. They aren’t finishing this one. None of this will count horsefeathers!!!!!!!
  21. Cubs need to go out quickly in this half so we can get the a dodgers 5th inning and make this official. Counsel might even bring Madrigal in for defense in the 5th.
  22. Looks like it might be a tough one to get in based on weather.
  23. I think it would be him before Little. Hell, they might release Almonte before sending Little down. But to me, most likely when Taillon and Steele come back it will be Cuas and Brown sent down.
