    While a C- may have been an overreaction, I still don’t like some of the picks they made. I think the overall grade goes up some because of Loveland and Burden. Those were very good choices. The other guys in rd 2 are ok, but I think they could have probably gotten an OT similar to Trapilo in the 3rd round. (Maybe even him at 72) And I would have rather just taken the edge rusher at 41 instead of Turner when they got him. Really do not like the 4th rd pick at all. I do like the CB they got late. I agree with gflore that guys got picked right before them and that threw the draft off a little. Had Henderson been there at 41 I think they take him. Had Skattebo been there at 109 I think they take him. Things did not fall great for them. I also think Caleb Johnson was an option, but the Bears pick never lined up right to pick him. As I said, C- might be a bit low, but I don’t think it was much better than average. For those people suggesting all the grade outlets have the Bears, remember most outlets don’t score much worse than B-. USA Today ranked the bears at B- and 21st best draft. In my world 21st out of 32 is not B-.

    That might have happened in rd 4 too, with Skattebo. He went a few picks before their pick and they moved back again. Don’t like this draft, at all. C-

    I hate this draft aside from the receiver in rd 2. WTF are they doing?

    Not a fan of the trade back. Don’t really like the guys they took there either. I think the OT could have been there at 72. So right now they traded the 41st pick where they could have gotten an edge rusher (BC edge) for the DT they took from A&M. This pick better be good at 109. Skattebo would be good here. Or Henderson. I think they need a back here.

    Didn’t know about the baggage. That explains why he is there. So now I don’t want him either. Go with the BC edge rusher instead.

    For me an ideal day 2 would be Ezeiruaku or Green at 39. Henderson at 41, Ersery in the 3rd round.

    If the plan is only for this year, maybe they do see about him. But he is not the long term answer. I still believe in Shaw.

    I am not sure Turner can play 3rd base on a semi regular basis. I am way more worried about his defense than I am his bat, especially if his bat only has to be better than Berti/Lopez/Brujan.

    This. If he is there at 10, great. But I don’t want him if the Bears lose a 2nd rd pick to switch spots in rd one and get him.

    I don’t disagree with that either. However, the Brewers talent level is average to slightly above average. Cubs might not beat them, but they should. They are not on par with the NL west teams they have faced.

    Brewers might be under 500 when we play them. And even if they are not, they are not in the same class as who we have okayed. I know the Giants have a good record, but I don’t consider them that level either. The Mets are very good. Giants average but playing well and Brewers average, IMO.

    Like to see Hoerner moved up to 2nd, Tucker 3rd and Turner at 6 or 7. But it is going to be Turner just taking Suzuki’s spot🤮

    I agree. But even if they do that doesn’t mean he signs. He may test free agency no matter what they offer.

    Michael Fulmer signed. There is no end to Jed and Carter’s dumpster diving. Maybe they get lucky with someone🤷

    What happens with Workman? Does he have to be offered back to Tigers?

    Kind of a lay up prediction. If he decides to go to free agency anything they offered would be considered a half-effort. And most likely he goes to free agency. I think no matter what team he was traded to he would go to free agency.

    Didn’t bother to even look up Murakami. To me that was the least of the problems with the idea. And, hopefully the Cubs won’t be looking for a 3rd baseman next year, anyway. I think moving Hoerner to 3rd, Happ to 2nd, Suzuki to left and Kelly becoming the permanent DH was a far worse idea than that.

    Actually considering no infielder is a good option, maybe Alcantara or Franklin makes sense in the event of an injury. I mean if it was Alcantara they may even be able to get him in a few games. Maybe a lefty starts and Alcantara gets in a game for PCA. Maybe he gets in another one to replace Happ and give him a day off. I think if he did come up they might play him a few times during his stay. Which might not be a bad thing.

    Welcome, but no. Not a good idea. I mean maybe next year discussing a 3rd baseman(hopefully they won’t have to.) But “no” to everything else.

    I didn’t realize how bad Murray has been. But I wasn’t suggesting bringing him up for Workman, I was suggesting him in the event Brujan was hurt. I am fine just going with Berti at 3rd. But if Brujan got hurt again last night and they need to bring someone up I don’t want them to disrupt any of the actual higher rated prospects, so in lieu of one of them, I thought Murray. Of Brujan is ok, just keep it rolling and go Berti most days. But if he is hurt, who do they bring up?

    How about BJ Murray? He is playing 3rd in AA. Won’t disrupt Shaw working at Iowa and gives the Cubs a guy they can play there a bit. He isn’t a high ranked prospect but maybe he does for the Cubs what Morel did when he wasn’t a high ranked prospect and was brought straight from AA, but can also field at 3rd. It isn’t like he has to do much to replace Workman. Plus, Brujan might be hurt again.

    I think his numbers look bad because when he was hitting the ball well he was getting very unlucky. So his numbers were bad already, and then he started to slump. So now they look even worse. I think at seasons end you will see a guy around .240-.250 with 20-25 homers. Basically a guy a bit over leave average offensively. He will be fine.

    Finish up April going 4-3 the last 7 games of the month. 18-13 would be an awesome record for who they faced. I know May starts with a Skenes game and then Brewers, Giants and Mets, but it then gets easier. And I am not so sure the Brewers and the Giants are that good. Get through April and start distancing themselves from the division and maybe put themselves in a spot to be a top 2 team in the playoffs.
