I would make a very competitive offer for Garrett Whitlock. I know the Cubs have a great bullpen but this would give them another big time weapon back there. He also won't cost much from a prospect standpoint and only has a $4.5 million salary.
Jokes on the Dodgers - they paid $18 million for Scott and the Cubs could get someone better for a fraction of that price. Also controllable through '26 and if he plays well, club options in '27 and '28.
Imagine: Pomeranz/Whitlock/Keller/Palencia with Hodge, Pressly, Flexen on standby. That's a dominant bullpen
For a major need like starting pitching and maybe a right handed bat, I'd go elsewhere. Gallen would be at the top of my list but that would cost a bit.
