  1. Not sure about you all but I'd rather watch Javy Assad pitch 10/10 times than this bum.
  2. He's a 25 year old 2x all-star, who is getting on base nearly 40% of the time this year. He's way better than Seiya has ever been. Don't get me wrong, he's no Yordan Alvarez or Juan Soto but he'd be the best bat in this lineup easily. With plenty of upside.
  3. If the Cubs are making a deal with Detroit, I'd much rather pursue a guy like Riley Greene. The Cubs have the pieces to get it done. I know this is an unpopular opinion here, but they need a middle-of-the order game changing bat more than they need half a season of Skubal. It would be like acquiring a younger, better, cost controlled Kyle Tucker. Check out his baseball savant. I'd give them any 3 prospects they want. He's an elite left handed hitter and only 25 years old. And his swing would fit like a glove at Wrigley.
  4. If the Cubs were 1 piece away then I'd be all for Skubal. But unfortunately, they need at least 1 more legit piece in the bullpen, the lineup, and the rotation. Selling the farm for Skubal could backfire tremendously for future seasons.
  5. It felt great to watch elite starting pitching today. We've been robbed of that this season with all of the injuries. Very imperfect lineup and serious questions about roster construction, but if the Cubs have Boyd/Cabrera/Steele/Horton healthy, this team is probably as good as anyone outside of the Braves/Dodgers.
  6. Ben has become the best SP on this team and that’s an exciting development
  7. I’m really interested to see what they do next season. Happ and Seiya will basically be the 2 best OFers on the market. Seems like they will try to bring Happ back - do they make another Tucker like trade or a prospect for prospect trade if Seiya is gone?
  8. I’ve been a Seiya fan since day 1 but he’s not playing like a guy who deserves an extension here
  9. As much as i give Counsell horsefeathers, he’s developed the horsefeathers out of some of these arms. Brown, Horton, Palencia, even Boyd.
  10. I don't think the Brewers would want Maton for free lol or maybe they would and turn him into Curt Schilling.
  11. I'll never understand why the Cubs didn't just keep Nico at SS. He might not be the defensive player Swanson is but he still graded out as an above average defensive SS. Not playing the retrospect game. Plenty of people back then were saying Swanson's contract would age horribly. They weren't wrong
  12. This team needs more velocity out of the bullpen in the worst way
  13. wow we are getting another winning streak lol. This team is something else
  14. Well to be fair, it's not like folks necessarily disagreed that Counsell is doing this. But like they accurately pointed out, it's because the Cubs are down their 3 best starting pitchers and have a crappy bullpen. They have to make some difficult decisions right now that they probably wouldn't make if they had a fully healthy roster. I was not taking that into account in that moment, and that's my bad.
  15. Thanks man. If I'm being honest, I can be too critical lol. The highs and lows of baseball. The whole narrative on this team could be different in 10 days and often I forget that
  16. I'm surprised the Cubs sent Assad down given the current injuries. Kind of a perfect option in that spot to try and get thru 2 innings and 1 ER or less.
  17. Yeah, the other side to my Craig Counsell beef is that they are missing like what, 3 or 4 starters. Hard for any team to overcome that.
  18. I on the other hand respect your opinions. I was surprised at the personal shot just because you disagreed with what I said. If you guys think I'm complaining too much then I'll dial it back. Otherwise I'm just voicing what 10 million other Cubs fans think
  19. I remember that Counsell didn't manage like this in the playoffs. We saw Palencia come into the 5th, 6th, innings. So hopefully you are right that it's just injuries and lack of options. I agree that they need to make a move and soon. I just hate feeling like the team doesn't have a sense of urgency on some days. Not complaining.
