  1. extend him now or watch him go to the Braves or Dodgers
  2. Boyd's pitch count is solid. He can give them 8 more outs if he doesn't have a blow up inning
  3. I’ll give the man some credit. Cubs don’t win that game yesterday without his single off of Miller. Eye test says his ABs look better the last few games.
  4. Starting to think they should trade both of those guys+ for the best arm they can get (Joe Ryan?), resign Seiya for one corner outfield spot, then replace Happ with a guy like Randy Arozarena. He's basically the same player but a pure righty to balance out the lineup. With the money they will free up, they could easily come away with a guy like Arozarena and Gausman or Gray next off season
  5. If the Cubs don't want to break the bank for a guy (in terms of prospect capital), I can't see a better fit than Sonny Gray. He strikes me as the type of guy who would love Wrigley Field. Mutual option at the end of the year so it doesn't have to be a rental.
  6. yeah, I was ready to riot when the Cubs were a .500 team on June 10th, having just lost to the Rockies. And I think people were well justified in being upset. The combination of PCA's superstar breakout and the offense playing lights out has cured a lot of the frustration. It just feels good to watch quality baseball again.
  7. I and many others on here have been critical of Counsell over the last few years, but this is the best managing job I've seen from a Cubs skipper in a decade. If the Cubs make the playoffs, he should get serious consideration for manager of the year. He's held this thing together, despite the many injuries and underperformance from some vets.
  8. Happ is a good player but he can drive you crazy sometimes
  9. I know the AL sucks but damn.. at 10 games below .500, that would be malpractice
  10. The Red Sox would be pretty good trade partners. They have a player at all 3 areas that I'd want on the Cubs. Sonny Gray, Garrett Whitlock, Willson Contreras (he's a hothead now so he'd have to scale back his antics and be cool with being DH, which I doubt he would be). I wonder what the price tag would be on Gray + Whitlock.
  11. Now is the time for Jordan Wicks to do one positive horsefeathers thing in his 5 years in this organization
