  1. I've read in a couple places that the A's gm (Billy Beane) called up the Reds gm (Dan O’Brien) and asked about the availability of Adam Dunn. O'Brien said that unless the name Rich Harden was going to come up, they had nothing to discuss. That was the end of that. O'Brien apparently doesn't like being a gm or something, because if he thinks the best strategy is to make insane trade offers to other teams and then do nothing, he's going to struggle.

  3. tree is late but on the scene i've always like lawton. wtg cubs. hope he plays everyday. wish we'd found a way to trade murton (in a separate deal). i dont see his value every being higher than it is right now.
  4. the angels are 3.5 games ahead of the a's they should probably stop losing soon
  5. if this happened, many esteemed colleagues of mine would have a new favorite team dunn and mercker in one trade? unless jesus comes out or retirement (AGAIN!) im pretty sure there's no way to get fair value
  6. That's awesome. The "O" stands for "overrated"! tru dat
  7. i've always liked him. he'd be a good fit if we had a manager who'd use him right. so we should pass.

  9. Wow, that must have been a REALLY bad throw! Ha, I was thinking the same thing. :) Harvey has a heck of an arm in RF. Fuld (batting 6th today) goes 2-3 with a triple, an rbi and 2 runs scored. His average is up to .292, which is impressive given how slowly he started. I wonder if he and Nomar had a conversation about #5. :P where did you guys get your info? this is all wrong. it was a ground ball to third and the throw was to second harveys throw home was amazing, as always
  10. that's the thing, unless manny is such a horrible behind the scenes guy that they have NO CHOICE but to move him (stabbing the pitchers in the elbow or something in the clubhouse), i doubt that epstein is going to make a trade that he doesn't come out ahead on.
  11. wow, much worse than i thought. GREAT evidence against all those who talk about how great neifi is for a backup shortstop. this just show that he's not great at all. he's basically replacement level.
  12. People who boo their own team really confuse me. People often say "what do you want to me do, cheer when he fails?" That's horrible logic. You don't have to cheer or boo at every moment of the game. Yeah, it would've been nice if Latroy had done better here, but you can't say he wasn't trying, and as far as I'm concerned that's all you can really ask of a guy. Cub fans get mad when people proclaim Cardinal fans to be the best in baseball, but you sure as heck don't see this crap happen there. I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin.
  13. i promised id have pictures from peoria http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/edstevensiscool/WETFIELD.jpg this better not happen again tomorrow.
  14. Sorry, but he's made several great plays for the Cubs this year. The most recent one being the screaming liner from Pujols. ???????????? i can catch line drives hit right at me
  15. so would all the farmers here, but that aint me, and i want to see nomar
  16. i will, if it freaking stops raining
  17. if you want to evaluate a minor league pitcher based only on 60ip in a year in which he was hurt, feel free edited to add: i forgot to say that meyer's velocity is back into the low to mid 90's rather than the mid to high 80's where it was earlier this year. i dont know how much you follow oakland a's prospects, so this isn't necessarily a fair fight. dan meyer will probably be pretty good, and could very well be in the a's rotation out of spring training next year.
  18. you gotta be kidding me. I know you some of you have an allegiance to billy beane, but this is a ridiculous series of implied conclusions. - Tim Hudson's career ERA+ is 138. He is an established pitcher who supplies a lot of quality innings at the top of a big-league rotation. - Juan Cruz is "dominating" AAA? HE'S TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OLD! His ERA in oakland this year? 8.49 - Dan Meyer is either injured or just not a good pitcher: 55 IP, 67 H, 27 BB, 12 HR to date I don't see how you can suggest Beane didn't get the worst of this deal. They'd give Cruz and Meyer back for Hudson in a heartbeat...but at this point I don't think they'd get anything more than a AAA reliever for either of these guys. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ if you're only spending 55 million, you can't keep everyone. it'd be awesome if they could've kept everyone who's come up through their system that they wanted to, but this is not the reality the a's deal with. Agreed, but lets call a spade a spade - the Hudson deal was underwhelming in terms of what Beane got back. only if you insist on evaluating the deal right now before dan meyer even pitches for the a's
  19. i still love you moises im sorry for being so mean last year i take it all back
  20. Completely agree. Unless we're getting someone like Dunn who's going to be here a while, I'd really rather we not give up any young players of use.
  21. I really hope that's what they're intending.
