  1. need more info Are you going to just fire it at random or will you be aiming at something specific? If I answer specific, do I have to name a target. I don't want anything to be able to be traced back to me. nope i just want to make sure that youre not firing the thing at random, because that most certainly would not be a martial art
  2. There are some many reasons why not. He is a very bad baseball player. Here's his line for the 2005 season. .212/.248/.285/.533 I think that line says enough. The very fact that the Cubs are interested shows that Grissom's numbers are not bad enough to discourage Hendry. Simon's and Neifi's season numbers were also terrible when they were acquired. Good point. I feel the Cubs shouldn't sign him but I could really see Grissom wearing blue pin stripes in a week. Hendry seems to enjoy finding reclamation projects. hopefully grissom can hit 320 for 60 at bats and trick the cubs into thinking he's good so we sign him for next year too.
  3. i don't think he's hot though. if he was hot, he'd be hitting the ball hard on a more regular basis.
  4. we should concentrate on winning innings at this point.
  5. I'm not even beginning to justify murton's non-usage, but I think Murton might be due for a fall. I was thinking to my self that it seemed like he had an awful lot of infield singles and bloopers, so I looked up his babip/ld% numbers. ld% = 20.7 babip = .536 sometimes your memory is right.
  6. has a broadcaster ever jumped from the booth to the dugout b4? Interesting question. NO but I'm pretty sure Mark Grace would like to be the first... larry dierker did. why do people think joe girardi would be a good manager? He's educated(Northwestern grad) and is learning under Torre. However, there's no way any of us can pass judgment on any managerial candidate that hasn't managed yet. We just don't know if they'll do some of the same stupid stuff that Baker does. im not huge on torre, but the educated part is a good point that i hadnt thought of.
  7. 18 hits and 10 walks. Wow. jose lima was pitching, though. andy sisco walked two in an inning and a third (didnt give up a run), but i unfortunately left before he came in.

  9. While I understand what your saying and agree that I wouldn't want them to tighten up the purse strings, having a low payroll does not automatically make for a less competitive team, just as having a high payroll doesn't automatically guarantee a WS trophy type team (see the 2005 version of the Cubs). No, but it guarantees Prior and Z won't be around for very long. Lower payroll doesn't guarantee that all in my opinion. It just means that if the payroll was lowered that they would have to get a bigger percentage of the total. The only problem then is finding good young and cheap talent. Which could be a big problem obviously. good young and cheap talent that our manager will use properly/at all
  10. If we had Bobby Cox for manager Leo Mazzone as pitching coach and John Schuerholz as GM we'd be 30 games over .500 right now. if we had bobby cox and leo mazzone and john schuerholz and ted turner we'd be 40 games over .500 right now
  11. after a 16-1 win over jose lima and the royals, the a's are now tied with the angels for first place in the american league west at 63-47.
  12. for what it's worth, hoops has mentioned this as a possibility.

  14. Lee and Pujols are now even in win shares, each having 28. Pujols is slightly ahead of Lee in batting win shares, but Lee makes up the difference by being slightly ahead of Pujols in fielding win shares. As far as Lee being the man in the lead for mvp, I'd say that the end is near.
  15. Minnesota thanks us in advance for when we sign Jacque Jones for 3/25. not if we get down to one of the first 15 picks! Wow, that really is a bright side! We're 13th right now! Really? I guess I should've known since we're under .500, but I was still thinking we'd be around 18-19 at the moment. Stupid Cobs.
  16. No prob, that happens a lot in August. hahahhahaha "i'm going to be gone for a week. better move me down seven slots." always a realist.
  17. has he even thrown five innings in a start? id say hes going to struggle to get too many 2's if he hasnt. I don't believe so. He did go 4 in his last start, though, so he might get there by the end of the season. Of course, when you have 16 pitchers on your roster, you also don't need your starters to go that long. ill bet dusty could have 17 pitchers on the roster and still overwork prior and z. ronny would probably get a lot of pt if he made the roster though.

  19. fine, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I can handle that very well. I like Radiohead, The Beatles, Tool, System of a Down, Led Zep, and Hans Zimmer soundtracks (Gladiator, Last Samurai, The Thin Red Line) I'm not huge on Radiohead, but all the others are awesome. I actually own two of those Hans Zimmer soundtracks. System of a Down always sells lots of records and is clearly pretty popular (including with me), but you hardly ever see people actually say they like them. Kinda weird.
  20. plus next year's amateur draft is more exciting with ever passing loss THATS RIGHT MILWAUKEE WE PICK BEFORE YOU
  21. and the fact that you're not supporting a website that costs a lot to run (unless you're clicking lots of ads)
  22. I definitely don't think Native Americans are any better or worse than anyone in history. However, unlike most good liberals, I don't think them somehow "noble" I minored in Archaeology so I spent nearly 100 percent of my digs on Native American sites and while I gained a great deal of respect for their intelligence and culture, I also saw how brutal of a people they could be. They would put GITMO to shame. im pretty sure it's not fair to compare the human rights abuses that took place in societies separated by centuries. ill agree that the native americans were not peaceful flower children or anything close to it, but the gitmo reference seems out of place. im getting kind of tired of talking about this/arguing with you. name some bands you like and then i will do the same and then we can learn how we are similar.
  23. ah, I see. But it's ok for you to insuate that I am somehow some insensitive bigot? i dont know that i did that. if i did, it was likely unintentional or an overreaction on my part and i apologize either way.
  24. I don't think walks are the opposite of strikeouts like that. When one goes up, the other doesn't necessarily (or even usually) go down. In fact, the easiest way to cut down on strikeouts would be to cut down on walks as well by swinging early in the count and just trying to make contact. This would result in reduced production for most players though.
  25. I'll agree that the cream of wheat thing is probably nothing, although when coupled with the first line, I don't know how much benefit of the doubt we should allow this guy.
