  1. hurray for rizzo! i hope he won by the exact number of times i voted
  2. when i heard it was alcantara coming up for the two days, i really assumed he'd just get to pinch hit and play an inning in the field.
  3. i'm going to keep defending this, but for safety's sake, i am going to reiterate here that i don't really think there's any chance of us doing this at all.
  4. we already aren't valuing high-end pitchers, though, either in the draft, through free agency, or trades. even if we have the best offense in the national league in 2016 or whatever, we're probably still looking at a kershaw vs scott feldman 4.0 game one, except in your scenario, you're hoping for feldman to get you six or seven good innings. if first round playoff pitching matchups are a concern, you should be against what our front office is doing at present.
  5. part of the premise is that we don't appear to be interested in signing good starting pitchers anyway. unless you think we're going to draft guys and have them refuse to sign as a result of this, i don't think it'd be a huge concern. hell, i bet a lot of relief pitchers would be more inclined to sign with the cubs than they would otherwise if we were doing this.
  6. let me preface this by saying that i know this is not going to happen. the cubs have: ONE a crazy offense-leaning farm system TWO top minor league pitchers who mostly seem to have big stuff but questions about durability THREE no big established successful starters in their major league rotation FOUR no apparent willingness to sign expensive pitchers to long-term contracts. aren't they in a perfect position to be the team that throws out the normal pitching rotation and does the all piggy-back pitching staff and just pitches guys slightly more often but for briefer outings?
  7. Yes, easily my favorite one season or less Cub one day we are going to run into each other while both wearing edmonds shirtseys and it is going to be glorious
  8. I listen to it like 4-6 hours a day, driving for work. Make of that what you will. There's really no other option though. Sometimes I can't stand it, sometimes I love it - was just curious what other people thought and figured I'd just ask here. that is a lot of miley
  9. That is casual. Yeah; jeans automatically = casual. So then the next level down would just be "No Dress Code?" Slobs. in my experience, that level could also be called "we're going to be out of business in two months anyway so who gives a [expletive]."
  10. remember when we thought javy would be getting promoted this year around this time? : (
  11. And Russell just missed a couple of days with the move from the As org to the Cubs. Odd timing. i'm going to hold my hand over the damaged goods alarm just so i can be the first to hit it when necessary
  12. bowtie and tear-away pants
  13. whatever value there is in having a confident veteran catcher helping a rookie pitcher in his first mlb start, i have to think a lot of it has to come from being able to actually talk to one another on the field
  14. darwin barney somehow went ragdoll on his way up for that ball
  15. i know it's a double header, but why did cincinnati think it was a good idea to use drunk uncle as a starting pitcher
  16. okay i gave in and voted like fifty times everyone else do the same, it's not hard at all and it will make anthony happy.
  17. pretty much inevitable given that half of our offense will be in iowa for the first month.
  18. http://i.imgur.com/nBHlz8J.gif
  19. castro's contract also has nothing in it about all-stars and some minor stuff for mvp voting.
  20. cot's says no:
  21. i really like the idea of a pitcher in samardzija's spot getting so into the idea that IT COJNTS that he talks his way into the game and intentionally gives up a million runs
