  1. Cubs will not advance in this series unless Boyd gives them 1 okay start. Unless you are hoping on Soroka, Civale orBrown
  2. As someone who has lived in the Champaign area for a lot of years, but am not an Illinois fan. I just want to say, be okay with being good most of the time and great every now and then. Lou Tepper was so under appreciated. Illinois is probably never going to be OSU. But they can be Iowa or what Wisconsin was for several decades
  3. I think Beilema has a way with 3 star players. He was never a great recruiter at Wisconsin either. Not everyone gets good results out of 5 stars
  4. I would live Peralta pitching tomorrow. He is pitching 1 of these games and I prefer it be tomorrow.
  5. Put me down for not taking Taillon out....in the after the fact chest thumping contest
  6. Javier Baez 2-3 with 3 rbi and a Homer today. Its all things Cubs today
  7. I know i am old, but some of the arguments here are so stupid. Hoerner is not what is wrong with this team. He is also far from what is right. Arguing over some extension that probably isnt happening is just stupid. I dont think the current Cubs value him as much as some pro Hoerner people think. So he is not getting extended. End of story
  8. I watched the Cardinals do it for so many years, I do believe its more than Pixie Dust. Some organizations are just good at what they are doing.
  9. Yeah Kiki effing Hernandez who is awful, will out Brewer the Brewers
  10. Would have gotten out of that inning with no runs allowed if he made the play
  11. Sure helps that Snell, Glasnow and Ohtani probably have less innings pitched combined than Boyd
  12. If Shaw comes up against a RH later in the game if runners are on,PH for him. I would have Busch behind Happ or between Kelly and Swanson. Its just my counter to starting Ashby. Could put Swanson at 2 also.
  13. I think Texas does also.
  14. Because Ben Brown was the only pitcher who was well rested and had success against the Brewers this season, which seemed to be your criteria. I get the criticism, but all of the options came with big question marks. They picked wrong and adjusted quickly. Unfortunately Soroka was worse. Here is the truth with this series, the Cubs are in a bad way with starting pitching. They are going to need to score 5+ runs a game to have a chance. A healthy Horton or close the Padres out in 2 and it would not have been so bad
  15. 3 of the top 4 preseason teams not ranked this week. Really hard to see any of them making playoffs
  16. Using this logic, Ben Brown should have been the game 1 starter.
  17. At the end of the day, players need to perform well. Its that simple. The Cubs first 2 pitchers didn't get the job done. I still like their stuff better than Rea and Civale. I think they are going to be in a bad way all series with starting pitching. Cubs hitters are going to score 5 plus runs a game to have a shot.
  18. In this case its true. Its not like Colin Rea was the obvious correct decision. It wasnt an egregious decision.
  19. No. But his name has made him more highly rated than he should be. I think if he sticks around another year, he will improve quite a bit. I also think Texas high preseason ranking had a lot to do with his name.
  20. He might be gone tomorrow UCLA got smoked by New Mexico who lost to San Jose St last night
