  1. I think a team like Illinois needs to at least control the pace of play. Even when they struggled running the ball in the 1st 3 games, they stuck with it and it played dividends in the 2nd half. The poor performance from their defense got the offense out of their strength. Then it snowballed on them. I know the defense had some injuries and lost a key player to a borderline targeting call, but Indiana so quickly getting the ball to a wide open receivers was should scare Illinois fans
  2. They won't be
  3. I used to think their SEC game every week was well done. They just had some really great camera angels today. Play by play was very solid also. Now that Gus Johnson has lost several steps, the CBS game might be the best
  4. Indiana wow! This game isnt even as close as the score
  5. I know Dabo is reluctant on using the portal, but what are Clemsons NIL capabilities? Watching some of the Michigan/Nebraska game. For some reason I thought the camera work, cinematography was great.
  6. I was thinking about doing something I hate. Bet against the Cubs today. You just talked me out of it
  7. I hate losing,I hate losing more than I like winning, and there is a difference-Billy Beane(Brad Pitt) Moneyball. I know I am a grumpy old man, but this quote has always resonated with me. That being sad, the other thing about being a grumpy old man is I have lived thru a lot more non playoff Cubs team than playoff teams. I am excited that the Cubs will probably be playing 3 home playoff games.
  8. So he is what he is....a valuable bench player. Why is everyone expecting an all star?
  9. I hope the Dbacks or Giants sneak in. Not only would that probably leave the Mets out, it would be 2 yrs in a row that a seller at the deadline made it.
  10. It would be great if the circle of trust can get a day off
  11. Im not sure Penix was any better, Atlanta just had a consistent running attack and he was more protected
  12. 1. What Counsell makes is moot. His salary does not count against the luxury tax, which seems to be the Cubs self imposed spending limit 2. Ultimately I think he was hired because the Cubs owner and front office view player development as crucial to overall team success. Overall, as frustrated as I get about Caissie and Ballesteros coming up and sitting the bench, he has worked well with developing others. Both from our system and getting value from other system rejects. 3. We were projected as a mid 80 win team. Best pitcher out for season after 2 starts and will finish with 90+ wins. Also, had a trash bench for 1st 110 games. I'll give him a B
  13. Ha, I missed that one. I used to coach HS and American Legion. I know not even close to MLB. But he seems to be in front of everything. Its probably how just about anyone would try to coach him. Like I said though, alot more difficult at the MLB level than I could even imagine.
  14. I meant since their head to head was 3-3, the next tiebreaker is division record. I think. Which really doesn't make sense since they play in different divisions
  15. The thing that would absolutely give the young QB all the support he can get is a real running attack. I dont think the comparison is Loveland v Warren. Its why wasn't more done to improve the run game?
  16. The most embarrassing roughing the passer ever just happened on Mahomes
  17. Unpopular opinion.....drafting is overrated.....player development is underrated.
  18. Isn't it who has the best record against division? Which is weird for WC
  19. I put some money on Florida tonight. I dont dislike LSU, just think they are a bit overrated after beating not very good Clemson. Plus Florida should play somewhat inspired
  20. He needs to let the ball get deeper. Its like everything he swings he expects something middle in that he can pull hard. I would almost like to see him intentionally try to let breaking balls get a little deeper and send them the other way. Easier said than done against MLB pitching
  21. Honestly, I actually kind of think of him like Ditka. Probably a perfect head coach as long as you have a good GM and coordinators. Not sure he can actually judge talent or make a good game plan. But I do think there is a lot of value in someone to be the front man and run the team on field
  22. The Matiners, Mets and Astros playoff spots are all still kind of questionable. So I really dont get them having better odds. To me the Padres have a scarey good playoff team. I dont know how my personal belief about the Padres correlates better WS odds, but obviously they do:)
