I gotta say - I agree, it sure seems like he doesn't like him. I noted yesterday it seemed JD was making a real effort to at least conversate with him - as there have been games where it seems like anything but, it was literally cringeworthy it was so awkward. I also agree with Bote on the buh-bye, that is also cringeworthy. It is good to get a break from Boog's I know more baseball than all of you act from time to time, but the chemistry seems so bad with Cohen and JD I find myself thinking "Come back Boog"!

He had more hard contact this weekend than he had in the whole month prior, and I don't believe that to be an exaggeration.

I've been really concerned about that all year and they have surpassed what I expected of them and are still pitching effectively. How much longer can they go? I know they use different means of measuring these things now outside of sheer pitch and inning counts, but I just keep waiting for the bubble to burst. I hope this continues to be a pleasant surprise and they can keep this up.

Exactly - people - and I gotta say I was at times one - were saying how much better Smith was than Shaw and another example of the FO mis-evaluating talent and keeping the wrong player out of two guys who were at the time playing the same position. We just typically don't have the patience to let things play out but I think they will both end up being pretty good MLB players.

It's a legit question Wilson. I think you have seen his agent try to get out in front if it is emphasizing the pinkie injury but at this point I think most perceive the issues to be beyond that now and mostly mental. I think Nico played through a more physically limiting injury last year and while his production did suffer a bit it was not near to this extent in length or severity. Unless he breaks out of this somehow and finishes strong, I can't see him getting near what he would have two months ago, but I could still see someone like the Dodgers paying him very well on the hopes this is a blip.

Brasier had a really rough stretch after a really, really good stretch when he came back from the injury. But he did o.k. last outing, hoping he can stabilize, we need him to.

I agree I don't think they are. But organizationally they seem to have a knack for getting the most out of what they have. Like Sharma was saying the other day, if the Cubs had picked up Vaughn and Collins off the scrap heap our fans would have been screaming about dumpster diving.

He's another one of those Brewers who has been producing well above what was expected of him and part of why they have been so hot for so long. He has been very mediocre in the majors prior to his stint with Milwaukee this year.

Is there an area on this site for political discourse that those who want to have at this can got to and have at this? All due respect, and I may be in the minority here and I may get blasted for this - so be it - but I come here for baseball discussion and to get away from that toxic and hateful discourse that things like this always turn into.

He is in the process of silencing the "we traded the wrong prospect" rage from a couple of months ago. Cams numbers have been regressing for a bit while Matt's are continuing to climb.

I've been worried about innings for Horton all year, but he's already exceeded what I expected and seemingly got better the more he pitched.....so what do I know.

I would say it definitely would not have been replayed as much, but I can tell you had I seen it as it was in real time - this guy would still have been upset. He shut it down before it hit the guy's glove. But HE probably doesn't do that if things were going well. And yes it was definitely time for a sitting down, probably even a couple of games before that. The two hits he got Saturday were both 6 hoppers just between first and second.

I'm the stereotypical old man get off my lawn on this and - I get it, most people don't get that upset about not running it out in all circumstances. So be it. I don't think it's very much to ask, but that's just me. Whether Tuck didn't run because he was pouting and feeling sorry for himself (my opinion of why he didn't run) or it didn't matter he had no chance, or it was a business decision as there's a 1% chance he pulls a hammy trying to run fast - none really excuse it....at least for me. If it doesn't bother you at all I won't be upset with anyone who it doesn't bother. It's always going to bother me though.

Those did feel great didn't they? It's been a while since I've smiled thinking about this team but last night made me smile. Those Milwaukee fans were all up in Wrigley hooting and hollering and the Cubbies pretty much silenced them - at least for a day and two games.

You and I disagree on this one sir, and that's o.k. - I do understand what you are saying, but it really doesn't change the way I think of that particular instance. From what I observed it was much more a pouting, feeling sorry for himself, lack of effort than and I don't want to get hurt lack of effort, which by the way, I don't care much for either, but I realize the business decisions exist...I'll just never care for it.

I'm honestly not prepared or inclined to give him excuses for this stretch, and if there is an injury it's absolutely on him to be honest about it. But on the not running to first, there is no inclination on that. That is inexcusable and there is probably not any other on field action that both disappoints and infuriates me as much as that.

At this port there is in my opinion, without question a large mental component to this. The body language is very telling to me that most of our guys are feeling the anxiety we are feeling just watching them. They are pressing and it's showing.

That IS strange. It appears from a quick check on Little that the control issues that forced his quick demotion earlier this year are still largely there.

I am under no delusion that this solves our problem in the long run, we'll need our best hitter to be himself and not Jason Heyward like he's basically been the last 6 weeks and we'll need our other good hitters to at least start hitting to their mean the rest of the year. But sometimes one spark can re-set a team - I do believe that happens an exists. What's happening is in their heads pretty bad right now - I'm not saying - if he falls on his face which is a possibility, it's not like whoever's place he was taking was doing much better.

We need to at least try something to get us out of our hitting malaise - get some juice. Hope he can give us a bump.

Yet, I agree - looking back on this if the issue is it cost too much, and I'm not saying it doesn't, then we need to move in the offseason and not hope the stars align. Either way it's a Jed and Tom problem, gotta quit trying to always thread the needle. I mean I want to give them the benefit of the doubt I'm not one of the everything they do is wrong folks - I know alot of those. But man the really stepped in their own horsefeathers here.
