  1. Same year as the record was set? I think 1988 was when the record was set. if he's talking about the cub record then maybe lancaster's streak was 44. maybe i'm confusing that with walton's 30 game hitting streak.
  2. Same year as the record was set? nope, the year after. hershiser set it in 1988, the year he won the cy young.
  3. i remember les lancaster having some sick string of scoreless innings pitched back in 1989. i think he hit 30, but he was a reliever.
  4. if they want dempster, one of lee, reed, eovaldi, or webster need to be included, especially with detroit in the mix.
  5. Honestly, posts like those piss me off. If you're going to give us obvious "clues" that make it pretty easy to know who you're talking about, then just tell us the actual names in the first place. those dodger arms have to be guys we've been talking about. eovaldi and gould please.
  6. he's going to be a 4+ WAR player this year. it sucks that it's going to be wasted because no one will take him.
  7. Yeah he'll be worth his contract this year. If we''re paying for production, we better get something real nice back.
  8. i have no idea why it took that long.
  9. i think it's easy to confuse those things. there's a bit of hyperbole in "everyone loved michael jordan", but really, most people were michael jordan fans.
  10. like tightrolling your jeans. that will come back some day.
  11. people are coming full circle on the player evaluation thing. soon they will be all hot and bothered over BA/RISP again.
  12. i don't see cable networks doing that ever. espn is so expensive because of demand, espn knows that people want it and cable providers know that they can't get by without it. same goes for every other cable network with a popular channel.
  13. Why not? They've won some, lost some, and broke about even. Overall they have been good but not a group I think anyone should be afraid to deal with. well, since they joined the cubs front office they've been acquiring positional talent. i just don't think anyone wants to get taken by them right now, and would be reticent to give up a player that they would show interest in for the simple fact that they've shown interest in them.
  14. i'm not really sure that anyone wants to deal with epstein and hoyer at this point.
  15. He's a fringe-average defender on the good side of the defensive spectrum. and baserunning really isn't a fixed virtue.
  16. (for reference) Soriano: 6.5% soriano's isod is .058, i'll take an isod around .060 from vitters, with a better k rate than soriano.
  17. this question has been answered a lot lately. it's really hard to say that the ship has sailed on a 22-year old hitting very very well in AAA. he likely won't make it back into anyone's top 100 simply because he HAS been written off, but i believe that he's easily a top 100 prospect, maybe even top 50 at this point.
  18. game 1 of a cubs series would be the highest rated baseball game in history, only to be surpassed by game 2 and so on.
  19. i'm just kidding. that would have topped the time kendrick nunn committed there for 2 weeks
  20. Who are the finalists? Texas A&M is one of them.
  21. and most exciting recruiting coup since crandall almost transferred there
  22. i am having fun tweeting bible verses on disloyalty at jabari
  23. i will add that Tyler Ennis has us in his top 3, though.
  24. nobody gets players like him except top 5 programs. it's kind of weird depaul is on the list, though. but anyway, this is nothing new. another top player spurns illinois, i've heard this before.
