  1. ditto more small words that nobody can read i can read them. but anyway, don't want to start a big thing with the small-ballers who see depodesta's firing in LA as a chink in the sabr-armor.
  2. Not really. A majority of the people who love Wrigley have seen games in other places, and can legitimately say that the new parks aren't even close. I have been to probably 1/2 of the newer parks, including the wonders that are Baltimore and Philly. NOT EVEN CLOSE. They dream of being as "baseball" as Wrigley is. It's about baseball, baseball by its nature is a game of history. I also believe it should be watched CAREFULLY, for the nuances that often are the deciding factors in the end... I travel for my job and try to see games when I can. Safeco is nice, as is Turner Field, AT&T Park is fantastic. All of which are better places to see a ballgame than Wrigley IMO. i've been to safeco and coors more times than i've been to wrigley. safeco is a really awesome place to see a game at a great location in SoDo. Coors is state of the art, all amenities and no sewer-smell near bathrooms. it, also is in an awesome location in LoDo Denver, near many many bars. i once saw chip caray walk straight out of coors and right into The Falling Rock Tap House--my favorite bar in the world.
  3. bush owns the cubs, so i'm not too optimistic about this game. we couldn't hit lohse for pete's sake, how are we going to hit a guy with DECENT stuff?
  4. It's not. I remember a pitcher got in trouble for trying to put glue on a blister before he pitched. what about liquid band-aid? probably not. can't they claim that blood flying off the ball could pose a health risk?
  5. QFT. if hendry is fired, i want a GM who embraces statistical analysis a bit more. depo, to be specific.
  6. if a pitcher is having a blister problem, is it legal to have some sort of foreign substance on his hand?
  7. OK so is it ROSIN or is it resin? lol resin is what's left after you smoke, i believe. I think resin is nothing more than pine sap: resin [ˈrezin] noun a sticky substance produced by certain trees (eg firs, pines) and some other plants well, it is a sticky substance.
  8. Not so much a bad call. He was great in spring and showed improvement. I'm sure Lou will pound into him not to be so aggresive with 2 balls. If he is to get better, he needs to be in those game situations and learn from them. it was a bad call. his decision to replace murton with theriot was a bad call, too. no, it wasn't. floyd has been atrociuous against lefties, with a far greater sample size than cedeno. lou was trying to get cedeno a meaningful plate appearance and it didn't work. but this is baseball, most offensive moves don't work.
  9. i don't understand for the life of me why contracts that professional athletes sign automatically lock them in for a set duration of years, prohibiting free agency. but why coaches are free to look into any offer they want--even after signing extensions the same years in which they move on.
  10. OK so is it ROSIN or is it resin? lol resin is what's left after you smoke, i believe.
  11. word on the street is that gillespie is leaving A&M for lexington.
  12. why in the heck would calipari insist on staying at a c-usa school? is he that married to a kid a who'll probably only play one year for him anyway? Nah, Calipari wanted to stay at Memphis last year as well-he's made a few stops now, so maybe he just had found a job he feels comfortable at and doesn't need to jump schools-he still schedules well enough that Memphis can get one of the top seeds most years. it just seems like a lot more work for him is all.
  13. why in the heck would calipari insist on staying at a c-usa school? is he that married to a kid a who'll probably only play one year for him anyway?
  14. that's what it looks like. i wouldn't worry too much about it.
  15. Ignoring the two facts that Lynch wont drop this far and the Bears wouldnt draft him if he did. Benson being disappointing? Im not disapointed with Benson in the slightest(except when he opens his mouth). benson really does sound like an idiot when he talks. he doesn't even regurgitate cliche well.
  16. not hardly. the season is young and cedeno needs some plate appearances with something on the line. just because cedeno didn't get a hit doesn't mean it was a bad move.
  17. i still think it was a good move. cedeno had been hitting well, and no harm in showing some confidence in the youngster. he just missed it.
  18. and why can't we hit lohse? he's terrible. failing to hit pitchers who are just trying to give you 5 runs per game is criminal. our guys are sucking in the hitting dept. so far.
  19. don't these pitchers understand that lou will whip them if they continue walking hitters?
  20. freel is awesome. he just doesn't swing at anything out of the zone, even against a guy like howry who doesn't walk anyone.
  21. why are we playing stupid? why are we trying to make too much happen with a pitcher as bad as lohse on the mound?
  22. If only we had a really good hitter coming up after Lee, if only. hahaha
  23. wait, i though that "making things happen" was supposed to be a good thing.
  24. keep pounding the strike zone, force red hitters to swing. they apparently don't like to.
