  1. for those people who grew up cubs fans because they could watch them on tv, it will mean that you are probably the last of your kind. the cubs stand to lose a lot of money over the next few decades due to the fact that there will simply be fewer cubs fans around the country buying their stuff.
  2. thabo is their 2 guard with size. he just hasn't been given the minutes this year. i'm sure he'll be phased into the standard rotation eventually. he's good when i've seen him out there, and he'll be able to guard players like kobe and lebron when he gets more minutes. edit- there isn't anyone we could get in the draft who'd be a better option. Disagree. Nick Young will be better than Thabo. http://media.collegepublisher.com/media/paper679/stills/x8i3om5y.jpg I'd definitely go after a big man - Horford, Hawes, Hibbert - any of those would be fantastic. imo, thabo will be one of the best all-around players in the NBA at one point in his career. that's pure speculation, but i really believe that it will happen.

Thabo's 8.39 PER this season leaves a lot to be desired. Duhon's PER his rookie season was 9.87. Hinrich's was 13.12, Gordon's 14.92. Perhaps Thabo will blossom with more minutes, but there's also a good chance he'll never be more than a role player like Duhon. duhon and hinrich were 4-year college starters and gordon was the top reserve in the NBA. the american game is relatively new to him, and the amount of PT makes a valid assesment, either quantitative or qualitative, very hard.
  4. i don't think cuban has enough money by himself. he'll have to head up an ownership group or something. i doubt that anyone will buy a franchise as expensive as the cubs by themselves.

  6. I guess it's nice that Angelo is being selective but I doubt we'll see a better offer than that. I'm dissapointed. briggs is a 2-time all-pro selection after 4 years in the league. a sure-thing. letting the redskins get away with swapping picks would be absolutely criminal. Briggs is as good as gone. Letting him walk and getting nothing in return would be criminal. briggs isn't in any kind of position to be dictating what the bears do. the seahawks went through this for a couple of years with walter jones. no one has ever held out after being tagged. Sean Gilbert is one example of a player who held out the entire year after being franchised. More and more players have also shown they are willing to hold out until week 10-Joey Galloway held out until week 10, Keenan Mcardell was at week 8 or 9 when he was traded, and the Patriots traded Branch after week 1 last year when it became apparent he wasn't coming back are all examples in the last few years of a player holding out for a long, long time. Is there a decent possibility that Briggs comes back? Sure-but there is also a decent possibility that he wouldn't come back until week 10 either following the examples of these other players. but hadn't gilbert been franchised before that? i'm not sure and don't know much about it, so i could be wrong. nonetheless, it's still a mistake to let one player run a team. let him hold out if he wants, i still doubt that he would sacrifice one of his prime years just to prove a point. anyway, i know that you don't want him to come back, the bears are a pretty good team with him, capable of challenging for a superbowl.

  9. YES! Notes from Phil Rogers Cuban can't afford droping a billion on the Cubs. Unless he gets partners. He's worth 2.3 Billion. I can't imagine him cutting his net worth in half. As a point, it wouldn't be cutting his net worth in half. It would be tying up half his net worth in one set of assets though. it would be a low-risk, low-yield type investment for him. it may make snes, but simply pruchasing the team isn't the end of the expenditures.
  10. with tebow running that offense full time? i don't think so. Tim Tebow's high school passing stats: Year ATT COMP PCT YDS TD INT Soph. 151 233 64.8 2194 18 8 Jun. 247 402 61.4 4304 46 6 Sen. 214 338 63.3 3324 31 4 The guy can do a lot more than just run the ball. so his high school stats are good, so were billy garza's. big deal. doesn't convince me he's anything more than a bulldozer at QB.

  12. i'm hoping that bruce wayne makes a bid. that would be so awesome!
  13. and that's enough already from noah.
  14. :D are they referring to the Magic Shotgun? because the Magic Shotgun is the formation that instantly turns rex grossman into a hall of fame player. Is there a non-magic shotgun? I thought it was just assumed. i always thought that the Magic Shotgun would be well used with orton at QB, as he often falls down for no reason when dropping back.
  15. i can't wait until dempster's ninja training is complete.
  16. what would make you think that, the way dwight howard goes over to our bench after the tip-off, grabs all 12 of our players' lunches and procedes to eat them on the court?

  18. the reds are willing to go up there and make the pitcher dig himself into a hole, the cubs aren't. not that harang would, anyway. apparently he's become cy harang since the beginning of last season. we get cy arroyo on wednesday, right? that'll probably be a goose egg.
  19. if i were zambrano, i would have melted down and killed the umpire a long a time ago. oh well, meet the new cubs, same as the old cubs. harang witha sub-10 pitch inning.
  20. better be an april fools thing.
  21. as a cubs fan i've known that the world isn't fair for a long time. but this latest development in major college sports is cartoonishly ridculous.
  22. sorry. just giving some background info on a person that i'm terribly proud of.
  23. you like, Chris? The quote was a reference to the Diamond Jaxx broadcasts over the years. When Ria would be part of the crew for the game, Ron would always introduce her as "The lovely Ria Cortesio". Sorry for the confusion. i was joking.
  24. http://www.npr.org/programs/theride/aborstein/swan.jpg  In all seriousness, good for her. Her gender doesn't matter to me. not at all. ria's a very attractive girl, and not just personality-wise.
